Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 785: Chapter 401: Crossroads of Fate

But the person who had shot the tire of the previous car was also very skilled. He quickly raised his hand to counterattack.

Moreover, his shooting was more accurate, quickly piercing through the car window glass, breaking the gunman’s arm inside the car, and swiftly throwing a round metal canister onto the roof of the car.

The people inside the car were unaware, and the driver slammed on the brakes.

The left rear car door opened, and the driver who had jumped from the overturned car earlier actually climbed into this car!

They were actually a group!

Lawrence Winters turned back angrily and once again lunged towards the middle of the road, trying to pull back Ian Lothrop and Nick Zeller together.

The car started again, heading towards Nick Zeller and the old Daoist in the middle of the road, and the driver who had just gotten into the car, the driver of the previous car, actually had a gun too.

He didn’t hesitate to shoot at Lawrence Winters!

At that moment, Lawrence Winters felt the world become incredibly clear.

Her mind went blank, and she could even see the trajectory of the spinning bullet coming towards her!

To bystanders, it was merely a split second of lightning fast action.

For Lawrence, however, it felt like experiencing the changes of an entire era; she was a leaf drifting from a cliff, dodging a droplet falling from above.

Her body swayed slightly, and the bullet grazed past her shoulder, missing her skin by only a fraction of a millimeter.

But because of this interruption, she paused for a second.

The car had already rushed over!

The old Daoist used all his strength to push Nick Zeller back to Lawrence Winters’ side, getting hit by the car and flying through the air.

His robe billowed with the wind, like an old, broken kite, flying over ten feet before landing with a thud on the ground.

Lawrence’s eyes widened, and she uncontrollably shouted, ”...Master!”

She immediately ran towards the car, moving faster than she ever had before, truly like a gust of wind, running past the roadside and casually pulling over a double-seated stroller which no longer had a child inside, stepping on the mechanism so that the stroller immediately folded up.

Lawrence threw the folded stroller toward the right front of the vehicle with force.

The folded stroller was of good quality, with its main structure made of steel.

The car rushed forward, unable to avoid it, directly running over it and inevitably getting slowed down, the car body slowed by a step.

Lawrence took advantage of this brief moment to pick up the old Daoist who had been thrown, dragging him to the sidewalk on the opposite side of the road.

At this time, the man who had been exchanging fire with the people inside the vehicle also ran to Lawrence’s side, using his body to tightly shield her and the old Daoist.

And not far away, the sounds of police and ambulance sirens grew closer and closer.

The people in the car could not continue and had to quickly hit the gas and flee.

The man shielding her turned back and said, ”Miss Winters, I was sent by Professor Lothrop to protect you. I’m sorry for frightening you. I’ve already called for an ambulance and police.”

Lawrence seemed not to hear him, her attention solely on the old Daoist.

The dark blue robe she was used to seeing was slowly being soaked with blood.

Lawrence hurriedly wiped it with her hand, only to have her hand covered with blood.

”Grandmaster—!” Lawrence began to cry out loud.

She had almost had her arm severed but hadn’t cried, and yet now she couldn’t stop crying.

Nick Zeller hobbled over from the opposite side of the street, tears streaming down his face, ”Master... Master... Master, you must hold on!”

Lawrence wiped away a tear at this point.

The blood she had just wiped from the old Daoist’s robe was inadvertently smeared all over her face.

She didn’t care, stepping aside and asking the man with the gun, ”Were you sent by Professor Ian Lothrop to protect me?”

”Yes, Miss Winters, your security level is very high. Don’t worry, we’ll do our utmost to keep you safe.”

”I don’t need your protection! You should be protecting my master! My grandmaster!” Lawrence shouted angrily, her fists clenched at the ordinary-looking man.

The man wasn’t angry, instead responded gently, ”My orders are to protect you. Of course, we also won’t let bad people harm our citizens. I’ve already thrown a tracker onto their car; we should catch them soon.”

”A tracker? How will you track them? Do you have a receiving device?” Lawrence asked, eyes blazing with anger.

”Yes.” The man, seeing how tense and anxious Lawrence was, quickly took out a small receiver to show her, ”Look, we all have this equipment, and now my colleagues already...”

Lawrence suddenly tapped the back of his hand lightly with her left hand, causing the receiver to bounce up.

Lawrence caught it with her right hand, shaking it slightly, ”Thanks, you help take my grandmaster to the hospital, and I’ll return this to you later.”

With that, she turned and ran, her pace unbelievably fast.

Though the man was well-trained, he couldn’t run faster or react quicker than Lawrence.

He smiled wryly and shook his head, taking out his phone to call his department, reporting the incident of Lawrence taking the receiver, meanwhile working with Nick Zeller to help get the old Daoist into the ambulance that had just arrived.

Meanwhile, Lawrence had already hurried back to the parking lot of her apartment complex, driving out Nick Zeller’s sturdy and crash-resistant Grand Cherokee.

Damn it! Anyone who dares touch her family, nobody’s gonna live!

She gritted her teeth and slammed the gas pedal, speeding away like an arrow.
