Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 779: Chapter 399: The Best Defense Is a Good Offense (First Update)

It’s a pity that I was careless for a moment and nearly fell into someone else’s trap and crashed.

After Lawrence Winters turned the tide, he also pondered how to help Nick Zeller expand his business scope.

Today’s result at the Sheldon Family birthday party wasn’t in vain, as she repaid grievances with kindness, offered guidance, and accumulated good fortune.

Edward Foster teased as he approached, ”Lawrence, looks like I should set up a position of Geomancer Director for you in the company. After all, every time in the entertainment circle we start shooting, we worship the gods. With you as the Geomancer Director, we can include this worshiping segment in the performance review category.”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

She said seriously, ”Mr. Edward, don’t dream of having it easy. You can’t afford to have me as the Geomancer Director.”

”... No way? Isn’t there a permanent twenty percent discount card?” Edward Foster said with a grin, ”Give me one too?”

”At my rate, even at twenty percent off, it’s still a seven-figure sum. How many films and TV series does the NewHuman Corporation start shooting in a year? Are you sure you can afford it?”

Edward Foster clicked his tongue, ”Lawrence, your persona as a money-lover never crumbles...”

”I’m earning through my skills.” Lawrence Winters said with a smile, ”Never talk about freebies with a Heavenly Master, because the most expensive ones are those that come free, and you pay back with your family’s descendants.”

As the two continued their conversation, Evan Stetford joined in and asked Lawrence Winters for a business card.

Not long after, the thunderstorm outside stopped, the thick black fog dispersed, the lights in the courtyard flickered again, and the night sky seemed as heavy as soaked black velvet.

When Mrs. Foster was about to leave with Lawrence Winters, Ryan Sheldon couldn’t help but call out to her, ”You mentioned the solution method earlier, you only mentioned the first point, what about the rest?”

Lawrence Winters laughed and said, ”Mrs. Stetford will consult your family’s feng shui advisor, I won’t step over my bounds. By the way, regarding tonight’s matter, I’ll send you the bill tomorrow. I don’t work for free.”

”Bill?!” Autumn Stetford suddenly looked up, ”Did I hear that right? You caused us Betty...”

”Mrs. Stetford, please watch your words. I’ve said it clearly, tonight’s matter is your family’s problem, and I even pointed out the feng shui issue in your house. Charging according to regular consulting fees.”

”Trust me, you don’t want to owe money to a Great Heavenly Master.” Lawrence Winters said with a smile while looking at Peter Grant, ”As for dealing with this little Master Grant, I won’t charge your family, I’ll send the bill directly to his teacher.”

Peter Grant rubbed his throat, his eyes nearly bulged out, and he said hoarsely, ”What did you say?! You hit me and still want me to pay?!”

”Well, that’s the logic, but you don’t need to yell it out loud. Which grandson talks money with the ancestor?” Lawrence Winters casually raised her eyebrows, ”Teaching you a lesson is giving face to your teacher. If your teacher ignores it, this karma becomes an owed debt.”

Lawrence Winters knew the Zeller branch and Grant branch originally had no conflict.

But now that the Grant branch had bullied her, if she chose to keep peace, it would mean she hadn’t done enough.

The best defense is always offense.

...

After a few minutes, all the guests in Moonlit Tower had left, even Peter Grant, leaving only a few members of the Sheldon Family.

Ryan Sheldon was sending three billion sister home, and those truly left in the hall were only Aiden Sheldon, Autumn Stetford, Ruby Sheldon, and Nathan Sheldon.

The staff had also clocked out, and as the window was opened, fresh air outside mingled with the scent of grass and damp soil wafted in.

Autumn Stetford wiped her tears and choked as she said to Aiden Sheldon, ”Aiden, let’s take Betty abroad, go find the Great Heavenly Master Grant. Our current problems, only he can solve.”

Aiden Sheldon was silent for a moment, then said, ”Why did you refuse the Heavenly Master office of Lawrence Winters’ family?”

”Their minor antics, how could they possibly solve our family’s issue?” Autumn Stetford dismissed, ”The Great Heavenly Master Grant is the orthodox successor of the Grant branch, has many believers abroad, our Stetford family has always worshiped the Great Heavenly Master Grant. Among the Celestial Master sects, the Zeller branch name is prominent, but they’ve always been domestic, their development and vision are limited.”

”The Grant branch is currently the largest sect in the Celestial Master realm. Do you know how many they have abroad?”

”How many?”

”About fifty thousand.”

”But the Zeller branch domestically currently has only three people, one grandmaster, one master, and the last is just Lawrence Winters this little disciple.” Autumn Stetford said blandly, ”Do you think this small sect of three people can be compared to the large sect of the Grant branch?”

”But earlier, the senior disciple of the Grant branch, Peter Grant, was beaten by the senior disciple of the Zeller branch, with practically no ability to retaliate. Do you still think Grant branch is stronger than Zeller branch?” Aiden Sheldon is not easily convinced.

”Doesn’t this precisely mean Lawrence Winters came prepared?” Autumn Stetford lowered her eyes and embraced Ruby Sheldon, ”She has such abilities and harbors hostility towards Betty, isn’t that even more terrifying?”

Ruby Sheldon then tugged at Aiden Sheldon’s arm and quietly said, ”Dad, I’m scared, can we go abroad? I want to go to grandpa’s house, at grandpa’s house I’m very comfortable, I’ve never had my illness act up.”

As soon as Ruby Sheldon spoke, Aiden Sheldon’s heart softened immediately.

What Lawrence Winters said tonight was news he had never heard of.

For a moment, he was unable to decide whether or not to believe her words.

Tonight’s matter was also greatly shocking to Aiden Sheldon.

If it were true, then his Betty... is truly pitiful...

How could he let his daughter suffer such hardship?!

Who exactly has let his daughter endure such hardship?

Who is the mastermind behind the scenes?

He didn’t think it was Lawrence Winters, but why did Peter Grant drag Lawrence Winters into the mess, that needs further investigation.

He wouldn’t allow anyone to use his daughter as a pawn in a power struggle.

Aiden Sheldon pondered silently as he held Ruby Sheldon’s hand and patiently said, ”Okay, Betty, mom and dad will both accompany you abroad, to stay at grandpa’s place.”

Ruby Sheldon curved her lips into a smile, ”Dad is really nice to me.”

Autumn Stetford sighed in relief and said, ”Since that’s the case, why don’t we take this opportunity to let Nathan reveal his identity. Let him become the Vice President at Sheldon Investment, while you’re away, he can fully handle the affairs on your behalf.”
