Chapter 1071: Chapter 467: Legion Reborn

The Skogji Port was ablaze with fires everywhere, and artillery from the Tiriel Engineer College was brutally bombarding the barely resisting Barbarians. The cannons roared, and the mortars carefully aimed, tearing apart the last futile resistance of the Barbarians.

The Ash Legion soldiers advanced like a tidal wave, forming a sturdy formation. Through tight ranks, they attacked while the musketeers and crossbowman corps eliminated the stubborn forces with dense barrages. Lacking cavalry, the flanks were heavily protected by sword and shield soldiers under the Legion Commander’s orders. Additionally, these Human Expeditionary Army troops were supported by a legion of Lizardman Cold Lizard Riders.

Simultaneously, a group of Winged Dragon Riders soared in the sky. The lizardmen atop them hurled boulders and executed bloodthirsty charges to inflict massive damage on the recalcitrant Barbarian warriors. Once the lines of defense erected by the Barbarians from the Northern Wasteland were breached one after another, all that remained of the Barbarians’ strongholds were a few taverns and some street corners.

In the depths of the forest visible to the naked eye, Great Lord Shilan, the Demon Toad Mazda Moody Master, sat quietly on the high Holy Throne atop the Triangular Dragon Zelarach. It appeared to be asleep, with its head drooping in silence, as only the terrifying magic power emanated from the black cobra staff in its hand.

”Great Lord, our Bloodthirsty Alliance is steadily advancing. It seems the enemy’s adherents are about to face irreversible destruction. The astrological signs indicate this will be a great victory for us.” Near Mazda Moody, among the hundreds of Temple Guards in escort, the Spirit Lizard Priest known as ”Maintainer” Isis whispered: ”The Chaos Champion has already been beheaded by Fugen’s sword.”

”Very well, order the Bloodthirsty Species to continue pushing forward.” It seemed to take Mazda Moody a while to respond. Satisfied, the Great Demon Lord looked at the fierce battle on the beach: ”The coast must also be purified.”

Having said that, Mazda Moody seemed to realize there was something he should do.

The Great Demon Lord raised its hand toward the sky.

The stars shimmered, and the Light of Order illuminated the universe.

The incantations were recited, and the cosmic power suppressed the evil beings.

A pure beam of holy light, as bright as the sun, shot down from above, crashing into the warring Skogji.

The last stronghold of the Barbarians was utterly destroyed by this terrifying beam of light. Thousands of Barbarians perished, leaving the fortress they occupied as an empty expanse, with nothing remaining on the beach.

”Rumble, rumble~” The ground shook as a 20-meter-high tidal wave was summoned by the Great Demon Lord’s will. All Barbarian ships attempting to retreat were engulfed by the raging tides, torn into shreds.

On the ground, an earthquake fissure tens of meters wide swallowed more than three hundred Barbarian Raiders attempting to escape to the forest. The crevice instantly closed, with the sound of crushing flesh echoing from beneath the earth.

The Battle of Skogji thus came to a close. The Skogji Tribe’s army, under joint assault by the Ash Legion and Lizardman Legion, was entirely annihilated. Not a single Barbarian escaped.

When the war ended, the Lizardmen said nothing. The Great Demon Lord Mazda Moody merely nodded at Legion Commander Fugen from afar before turning around and disappearing into the rainforest with hundreds of Temple Guards. The remaining Lizardmen also retreated systematically.

”A glorious victory, Legion Commander,” said Deputy Legion Commander Fernando Pilazzo of the Ash Legion, smiling joyfully: ”We have finally eradicated that damned Barbarian group! From now on, this land is ours!”

White long hair fluttered in the smoke as Fugen, the Legion Commander, gripped the Golden Power Sword ”Glory”. He dispassionately gazed at the Chaos Champion Rostlinksen-Kur’s head, showing no interest in collecting it. The dueling opponent had been too weak to excite him. Nonetheless, after more than a year of effort, it was satisfying to have resolved this troublesome Barbarian tribe.

Yes, troublesome. Fugen rarely used such words to describe his enemies. Even during the Great Expedition, he rarely encountered foes so bothersome.

But the Skogji Tribe was indeed very troublesome. The tribe’s army consisted of a large number of rapid Raider Cavalry, possessing high mobility, complemented by a substantial number of Chaos Warriors. These Barbarians, encased in Chaos Armor, were exceptionally formidable, demanding at least five human soldiers working together for any chance of success.

Even that would have been manageable, but the Skogji people, during their long settlement, learned a unique skill—disguising themselves as Southern People. These Barbarians mastered the use of Low Gothic Language to infiltrate the Expeditionary Army, stealing intelligence and conveying messages.

This forced Fugen to spend time purging his army. Simultaneously, he launched the Lustria Land Bridge Battle, aiming to clear out the Barbarian strongholds established in the forest.

This brutal war took place in the forest, pitting an Expeditionary Army numbering over five thousand against a Barbarian Army of more than eight thousand in direct confrontation.

Facing the superior Barbarian forces, Fugen opted for a stable and methodical approach. He personally stood on the frontline, ordering the soldiers to build defensive fortifications in a lowland area, preparing diligently, and relinquishing the high ground.

A large group of Barbarian Raider Cavalry, seeing the Expeditionary Army daring to construct defensive works in the low ground while they were positioned on high ground, believed they could charge down and easily break through. They judged this battle to be secure,
