Chapter 1051: Chapter 458: Lorgar and the National Church (3)

”You are God, my father, my faith’s God tells me he is not God yet I found he is indeed God, so contradictory, so divided, you split me in two, you drive me mad! You overturned everything with a single sentence!”

”Do you even know how painful it is to force someone to repeatedly deny their own beliefs?! Yet you did it to me twice! You forced someone who believed in the Deities since childhood to switch their faith to you! Then you forced your most loyal follower to abandon their faith once again! I was forced to kneel before you and admit my mistake.” By the end, Lorgar’s expression was nearly insane, and he shouted with a hoarse voice: ”After I was forced to accept the viewpoint that you are not a God, I then found through countless signs that you indeed are God, but I had already accepted the viewpoint that you are not God, and I almost went mad! I am not your toy, instead of continuing to endure your lies, I might as well embrace Chaos; at least they gladly accept faith!”

”Therefore I admit, during the Great Expedition Era, some of my methods were wrong. I thought spreading the Imperial Truth could keep humanity away from corruption, but I didn’t realize the forced implementation had the opposite effect, as it couldn’t provide spiritual consolation, and compared to educating humanity with reason and science, religious fanaticism could more easily unite the masses.” The Emperor nodded in agreement with Lorgar’s perspective: ”We need some changes, some subtle changes.”

”I am glad we could reach an agreement, father, if you had realized this problem earlier, I wouldn’t have betrayed you.” Lorgar was still angry, feeling emptiness from body to spirit, instinctively wanting to grasp the last straw: ”You wouldn’t have spent all this effort to capture me and transform me, tell me, father? What do you want me to do for you? You need me, right? Right?”

”I need a new Holy Words Record, rewritten sentences, more exquisite illustrations, and more enlightening stories. I need someone to help me manage and reform the National Church.” The Emperor said to Lorgar: ”You are an important piece in my plan.”

”Huh~” Hearing the Emperor’s words, Lorgar let out a long sigh of relief; this is what he wanted, being needed by his own God, sustaining the thing called Lorgar is made of both faith and being needed.

”Give me some time to think, father, I don’t understand whether the Book of Chaos Roja or the Holy Words Record is what I want. You want a Demon Prince, Dark Apostle (Chaos Devotee) to become the Genetic Primarch in charge of the National Church for you? You want to destroy my faith for the third time; I know, after being transformed back by you, I can’t go back to Chaos, but I need some time.” Lorgar painfully clawed at his scalp with his fingers: ”You are always so relaxed.”

”Okay, during my time in Lustria until I return, you stay here with Laine, and then we’ll return to Terra together.” The Emperor closed his eyes, falling into a short silence, seemingly reminiscing about something; the thoughts of the Master of Humans are unknown to anyone.

”Laine.” After a short silence ended, the Emperor turned to Laine and said: ”Bring your wife to Angerong’s Forest Cottage.”

”Surya Kumari Antley de Winford, as the Empress I have appointed, I wish to see her.”

”Alright!”
