Chapter 2243: Chapter 2244: Why Does He Need His Approval?

Then, Su Chengyu confidently went to E City to continue pursuing Ning Wenxian.

In E City, he pursued Ning Wenxian for about half a month, then returned home for a few days before heading back to E City.

Although he was pursuing Ning Wenxian, he couldn’t ignore his business and family, especially his father, to whom he promised not to stay away for too long.

So, he returned home again.

Basically, he was running back and forth between S City and E City.

That day, Su Chengyu called Ning Wenxian from home: ”Wenxian, we’ve known each other for two and a half months now, and I’ve been very earnest in pursuing you. Do you still have no feelings for me?”

Ning Wenxian smiled: ”You’re very cheerful.” Anyway, being with him always made her feel good.

”That’s all you feel?” Su Chengyu was a bit disappointed but persistently asked, ”Anything else?”

Ning Wenxian paused briefly, then smiled again: ”Even though we’ve only known each other for two and a half months, you’ve brought me a lot of joy. Being with you makes me happy, though I’m not sure what exactly I feel for you now. But if my brother agrees with us being together, I can try dating you first.”

Hearing Ning Wenxian mention dating him, which indicates a closer connection, Su Chengyu was ecstatic yet puzzled: ”Why do you need your brother’s approval to date me?”

Ning Wenxian said, ”I listen to my brother. If he doesn’t like me being with you, then we can’t be together.”

Su Chengyu: ”...”

Su Chengyu was silent for a long time before anxiously saying, ”No, no, you can’t do that. What does your brother have to do with you dating? Shouldn’t you decide for yourself? Even if you listen to your brother, you can’t do this. I see you don’t dislike me, and I like you so much. If we’re together, I’ll absolutely give you happiness. Trust me, Wenxian!”

Ning Wenxian calmly and gently explained, ”You don’t understand how important my brother is to me. I really value his opinion. I would never do anything that makes him unhappy. I...”

Before Ning Wenxian could finish, Su Chengyu said in disbelief, ”You have brother complex?!”

”No.” Ning Wenxian chuckled. ”Don’t be so hasty. Let me finish speaking, okay?” Her voice remained gentle and composed.

”...Alright.”

Only then did Ning Wenxian continue slowly: ”It’s like this, you’ve probably seen some reports. My mom cheated when she was still married to my dad. Later, my dad and mom got divorced. My brother was given custody to my dad, and I was given to my mom. But my mom only cared about dating her boyfriend and didn’t care about me. I recall being six years old at the time, with a high fever at home. Instead of staying with me, my mom went on a date with her new boyfriend. I called her, she answered but only told me she was busy before hanging up. Then, I called my brother. At the time, he was only eight years old. Knowing I was sick with a high fever and no one was looking after me, he took an axe to break down the door of my mom’s house and took me to the hospital.”

”After that, my brother wouldn’t let me go back to my mom. I didn’t want to either since my mom didn’t care about me at all. I truly didn’t want to go back, but my mom refused to give my custody to my dad. My dad couldn’t do anything, but my brother held a kitchen knife to my mom’s neck, causing a lot of blood to come out. My mom got scared, afraid my brother would kill her, so she voluntarily gave up my custody.”
