Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2193: Chapter 2194: Love, Yet Letting Go (Part 1)

...

Over here, An Jing and the others are celebrating finally getting their certificate, while on the other side, Ning Zihan is restlessly waiting for a call from An Baobei.

An Baobei calls him every night, the length of the conversation varying, but she does call him every single night without fail. Yet tonight, it’s already eleven pm, and An Baobei still hasn’t called. He’s truly not used to it, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

He’s even worried that something might have happened to An Baobei.

”It would be better if something did happen to her...” Ning Zihan, struggling to fall asleep, suddenly opened his eyes and muttered this unpleasant thought.

The influence that An Baobei has on him is growing; he has never been unable to sleep over anyone else. An Baobei is the first.

If something did happen to An Baobei, it would be best if she completely disappeared; then he wouldn’t be affected by her anymore. And that, to him, would truly be a relief.

Yet the more Ning Zihan thinks it’s good for him, the more worried he becomes that something has happened to An Baobei. Finally, he irritably sits up, leaning against the headboard, expressionless, deep in thought.

He has never initiated a call to An Baobei. Even now, no matter how restless or worried he is, he still doesn’t call her.

Glancing at the phone on the bedside table, Ning Zihan raises his hand to pinch his brow. He does want to call An Baobei, but reason tells him not to. He can’t call. Calling might give An Baobei hope. He really can’t call.

An Baobei has been calling him every night; he’s not a fool. He knows naturally that An Baobei still likes him.

An Baobei told him back in April that her illness was almost cured. But now it’s the end of September, and she’s still saying it’s almost cured.

He actually knows in his heart that An Baobei’s illness should have been cured a while ago. After all, An Baobei’s behavior now doesn’t give off any impression that she’s mentally ill anymore.

But even though he knows it clearly in his heart, he still doesn’t expose her, allowing An Baobei to call him each night.

He doesn’t even dislike it.

Even knowing that An Baobei isn’t mentally ill anymore, he surprisingly doesn’t dislike An Baobei...

This fact, he knew before but didn’t dare to think deeply about why. Now that he’s thought about it, he’s no longer deceiving himself, he admits: he doesn’t dislike An Baobei, whether she’s ill or not, he doesn’t dislike her.

Not only does he not dislike her, but he even looks forward to her calls.

And what does this mean?

He despises women and has never been in a relationship, but he is not emotionally clueless. He previously didn’t dare to think deeply, didn’t want to admit it, but he actually understands clearly in his heart — he likes An Baobei.

He likes An Baobei?

What a terrifying conclusion for someone who loathes women to the extreme, who had long decided to stay single for life.

Thinking about this, Ning Zihan, rarely, lets out a helpless and deeply conflicted sigh: ”Sigh...”

Then he pinches his brow again, feeling his head throbbing with pain.

No woman has ever affected him like this.

And he particularly dislikes this feeling.

It’s as if it’s about to change the life trajectory he had set for himself.

He had it all planned out how to live his life, and suddenly someone comes along, wanting to change everything...

The more he thinks about it, the harder it becomes for Ning Zihan to accept how much An Baobei has influenced him.

He should even dislike An Baobei too.

He’s truly afraid of following his father’s path.
