Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2161: Chapter 2162: An Jing Clings to a Powerful Backer (Part 2)

Whether her daughter can marry a wealthy man is still unknown. Right now, it’s crucial that she doesn’t have to go out and work and can still survive.

So, the money naturally has to come from Lin Anrou’s daughter.

Seeing that Wu Meifeng wasn’t pleading on her behalf, Lin Anrou cried in frustration, ”You can’t find her, why don’t you report to the police and ask for her support? Why must you come to me?”

Lin Jiecheng replied immediately, ”How dare we call the police? We beat and scolded her when she was little, and you pushed her down the stairs. All the neighbors here would gladly testify for her. If they randomly accuse us of domestic violence or attempted murder, we’d be in big trouble.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Anrou’s heart sank, and she dared not bring up the police report again. She muttered softly, ”Then you guys should go look elsewhere for her.”

Hearing this, Lin Jiecheng’s temper flared up again, and he shouted, ”Where else am I supposed to look? She was always either at the textile factory or home. Now she’s not at home, and she’s not at the textile factory. Where do you want me to find her?”

Lin Anrou bowed her head, saying nothing, but her mind was racing. Her salary was just enough, and she was unwilling to give even a penny to her family. She had to think of a way not to hand over any money.

After a long while, her eyes lit up, and she raised her head, ”Dad, Mom, doesn’t she still owe hospital fees? She’ll definitely pay them back; otherwise, the hospital will come after her. How about I accompany you to the hospital tomorrow to inquire? Maybe we can find out where she is.”

Lin Jiecheng and Wu Meifeng were delighted as if Lin Anjing would give them 4,500 yuan again every month in the future.

”Old Lin, Anrou is right, let’s go to the hospital and ask tomorrow.”

”Yeah.” Lin Jiecheng agreed. Upon agreeing, he then said to Lin Anrou, ”Until your sister is giving the family 4,500 yuan every month like she used to, you must give the family 2,500 yuan every month. If it’s a penny less, I’ll cause a scene at your company, and you’ll be kicked out. Then the three of us will starve at home together!”

Lin Anrou, fuming, wanted to argue with Lin Jiecheng again, but Wu Meifeng pulled her aside, telling her not to confront Lin Jiecheng, as it would do her no good.

Lin Anrou also knew her parents would shamelessly cause a scene at her company, and if they did, the company would definitely fire her to avoid trouble.

Despite her good looks, she had no degree, and her work experience was just as a receptionist. Finding another decent job like her current one would be difficult.

So, Lin Anrou heeded Wu Meifeng’s advice and did not confront Lin Jiecheng further.

...

The next day, since it was Sunday and Lin Anrou didn’t have to work, she could accompany Lin Jiecheng and Wu Meifeng to the hospital.

The three of them went directly to the information desk and asked the nurse about Lin Anjing’s unpaid hospital bills.

The nurse at the desk quickly checked on the computer and replied, ”Miss Lin’s hospital bills were settled during her hospital stay.”

”Settled?!” The three were very surprised.

Immediately, Lin Anrou whispered sarcastically to Lin Jiecheng, ”Dad, I think her salary is definitely more than 5,000. Look, she settled the hospital bills during her stay. She was hospitalized for so many days and underwent major treatment. The hospital bills must have been at least 10,000.”

Lin Jiecheng was instantly infuriated.

Wu Meifeng was also frustrated, sneering at how easily manipulated Lin Anjing had been before, yet managed to secretly stash away so much private money.
