Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1948: Chapter 1949: Boss of the Gambling House

An Yiqing gritted his teeth instantly. After a moment, he squeezed words out through his teeth, ”Second Brother, I used to think I was the most shameless in our family, but now it seems it’s actually you.”

Su Yixing wasn’t angry; he continued to smile and said, ”You look at the conduct of my master, then you’ll know why I’ve turned out this way.”

An Yiqing was irritated. His master, Gong Juechen, was truly shameless!

”Alright, I’m full of anger now, so I’ll go do what I should do.” Saying that, An Yiqing intended to turn around and leave. But his gaze caught sight of Gong Le still pouting, looking unhappy. So, he said, ”There are some matters at the casino, I need to go check them out.”

Gong Le immediately cheered up, ”Then you better hurry and go, Brother Qing!”

Su Yixing then laughed and said, ”Are you planning to open casinos all over Xiyun?” This third brother of his was truly adept at eating, drinking, and having fun, especially in gambling—he never lost.

From what he knew, his third brother had already opened a total of forty casinos throughout many cities in Xiyun, with each casino being particularly large in scale.

Of course, being the Third Prince of Xiyun, how could he earn money so vulgarly? So, everyone knew about the boss of the casinos—Lord Qing—yet completely unaware that this Lord Qing was the Third Prince, An Yiqing.

And the casinos were incredibly profitable. Whenever their Second Uncle had no funds in the national treasury, he’d come to this third brother of his, who didn’t care much for money, and as soon as their uncle asked, he’d generously provide.

In any case, their Second Uncle couldn’t wish more for his third brother to expand the casino business further and further.

”I have this intention.” After a pause, An Yiqing added, ”I will stop once I find the casino business no longer fun.”

Su Yixing immediately laughed, ”Then our Second Uncle would cry, right?”

An Yiqing snorted, ”Second Uncle is too compassionate, considering the populace, reducing taxes again and again. Which country has taxes lower than ours? And without those taxes, how can the treasury ever be filled? Naturally, he’d set his sights on my casinos. Also, our family’s grain stores—what place in Xiyun doesn’t have them? But where does the earned money go? Doesn’t most of it end up in the treasury!”

”Anyway, you don’t care much for money, so why huff about it.”

”I’m huffing because out of ten times Second Uncle comes to me, nine are for money to fill the treasury.”

”Hahaha...” Su Yixing could no longer hold back and burst into loud laughter.

Gong Le, however, earnestly advised, ”Brother Qing, you can choose not to give money to your Second Uncle.”

”I say you’re silly, yet you call yourself dumb. If I don’t give money to my Second Uncle, where will the treasury get enough money for so many expenditures? Then they’d have to levy heavy taxes, and wouldn’t the common people suffer.” Although he thought his Second Uncle was too kind, he actually also wished the common people could live well, and for Xiyun to remain prosperous and peaceful.

”Alright, you wouldn’t understand even if I told you. I’m leaving now; you take good care of my Second Brother, and I’ll be back for dinner with you tonight.” Without saying more to Gong Le, An Yiqing turned and left.

The main site of the casino was in the Imperial City, and now he needed to go there to handle some matters that required his personal attention.

After An Yiqing disappeared from sight, Su Yixing finally smiled and said, ”Lele, stop staring, he’s already far away. Come on, let’s go to my courtyard; this isn’t my turf, it’s inconvenient to talk here.”

They were currently in the courtyard where An Yiqing resided.

And since An Yiyun wasn’t in the Royal Palace, Su Yixing couldn’t check on An Yiyun’s health. So, he planned to have a good chat with Gong Le first.
