Chapter 1904: Chapter 1905: I’ll Be by Your Side

Feng Tianji finally felt like his daughter had grown beyond his control, and teased, ”You seem eager to marry him, huh.”

Feng Feiyan’s face instantly turned red, but she still nodded, ”Not to hide from you, Father Emperor, during the days I stayed at his house, I already agreed to marry him. It was later that I had second thoughts... I don’t want to delay any longer, fearing that dreams might fade away over time, so it’s better to marry early.”

Feng Tianji laughed and cried, ”No matter how much you want to marry early, I still need to regain the throne.”

Upon hearing this, the Empress Dowager hurriedly said, ”Feiyan, Yi Jing, quickly thank your Father Emperor! Your Father Emperor is willing to return to the throne to fulfill your marriage.”

Feng Feiyan and Su Yi Jing immediately expressed their gratitude, making it impossible for Feng Tianji to change his mind.

Feng Tianji looked helplessly at the Empress Dowager, ”You just spoil them! Once I am Emperor again, you’ll be the Empress again, ranking below Empress Dowager.”

”What’s there to worry about,” the Empress Dowager said indifferently, ”Aren’t you going to be demoted from Retired Emperor to Emperor.”

Upon hearing this, Feng Tianji laughed, ”Yes, and I’ll be with you.”

After Su Yi Jing and Feng Feiyan left, Feng Tianji said to the Empress Dowager, ”You’ve suffered all these years, you’re the only one who never looked down on me.”

She was his first wife, the same age as him. They married at fourteen, she gave birth to their daughter Feng Feiyan at fifteen, and then he became Emperor. Somehow, his health deteriorated, making it difficult for him to father more children, even if he wanted.

While his health was poor for so many years, she, his first wife, never despised caring for him. Other Concubines pretended to treat him well, but secretly looked down on him, thinking he was useless and better off dead sooner. Yet his first wife treated him well both in front of others and behind closed doors. He was deeply in love with her already, and now he was especially grateful to her.

The Empress Dowager shook her head, ”You are my husband, my sky. Even if I despise myself, I would never despise you. Enough, stop saying these things. Since your health improved, you’ve been repeating this, and I’m tired of hearing it. You should prepare for being Emperor again.”

”Yes.” Feng Tianji nodded, then added, ”Once I’m Emperor again, I’ll disband the harem, leaving only you.”

”Retired Emperor...” The Empress Dowager’s eyes reddened.

Feng Tianji just gazed at her affectionately, ”Feiyan dares to leave only Yi Jing in the harem; as her Father Emperor, how can I lack the courage? How many tears have you secretly shed for me over the years? I will never let you down in this life.”

”Hey.” The Empress Dowager smiled as she replied, her eyes even redder.

Feng Tianji gently held the Empress Dowager’s hand, then looked at the cradle with Feng Feiming inside, ”We have a son now, the Feng dynasty truly has an heir. Before, I worried about Feiyan continuing as Emperor; if she had a son, how would I ask her to give the throne to her brother? Now, it’s resolved; she willingly gives up the throne. Although she listened to Su Yi Jing and schemed against me, with heavy personal motives, I’m not angry at all. My selfishness is greater than hers. I feel I’m indebted to her. She never wanted to be Emperor; I forced her to be. She is truly a filial child.”

The Empress Dowager laughed, ”Since you feel sorry for her, return to the throne soon to fulfill their marriage. I can tell they truly love each other.”

”Yes.”
