Chapter 1914: Chapter 1915: There, at Least Someone Serves You

As soon as An Jing heard that Feng Feiyan wanted to learn to cook, she readily agreed: ”Sure.”

However, although An Jing was willing to teach, learning was a big headache for Feng Feiyan.

No matter how she held the kitchen knife, it felt awkward, and she even ended up cutting her hand instead of the vegetable.

Seeing Feng Feiyan cut her hand, An Jing told her not to learn anymore, that she and her husband could do it just the same. But Feng Feiyan insisted on learning to cook, quickly wrapped her hand, picked up the kitchen knife again, and decided to start by learning how to cut vegetables.

Feng Feiyan not only learned to cook, but also to grow vegetables, wash clothes, and clean inside and outside the house.

In Feng Feiyan’s view, as a daughter-in-law, how could she let her parents-in-law cook for her while she did nothing and simply waited to eat?

Besides, once she learned these tasks, she could cook for her parents-in-law, do housework, and help plant vegetables, which was also a form of showing filial piety to them.

Her way of showing filial piety was never just words; she wanted to take action. No matter how hard, exhausting, or uncomfortable it was, she was determined to learn everything.

After a month of learning, Feng Feiyan made some progress in various aspects, but she had lost a lot of weight. An Jing couldn’t bear to see this, so that night, she discussed it quietly with Xiao Changyi while An Baobei was asleep.

”Husband, let’s have Jing’er take Qingqing back to the Imperial City. I can tell that Qingqing wants to be a good daughter-in-law and to show us filial piety through her actions. But she is a princess, once an emperor, always attended to by others. Now married into our family, she doesn’t have anyone to serve her, yet she’s thinking of how to serve us.”

Sighing, An Jing continued, ”Let’s let them return to the Royal Palace, at least there, there are people to attend to her.”

A princess of the kingdom, once emperor of a nation, marrying their son and willingly following him into seclusion, and willingly being filial to them, clearly shows Feng Feiyan truly loves their eldest son.

And all the efforts Feng Feiyan put in over the past month, Xiao Changyi saw it all. Hearing An Jing’s words, he nodded, ”Tell Jing’er tomorrow, we may be getting older, but we don’t need them to stay by our side like this.”

”Alright, I’ll talk to him tomorrow.”

...

The next day, An Jing spoke to Su Yi Jing about this matter.

Even though Su Yi Jing felt that Feng Feiyan being filial to his parents was what a daughter-in-law should do, thinking about how hard Feng Feiyan had worked over the past month to learn and do this and that, he felt heartache for her.

Feng Feiyan was born into the Wufeng royal family and had never endured such hardship. Not that he was expecting her to enjoy luxuries once married to him, but...

Thinking of this, Su Yi Jing didn’t oppose the matter but also didn’t agree with An Jing right away. Instead, he returned to the room to tell Feng Feiyan about it, to see her attitude. If Feng Feiyan wanted to return to the Imperial City, he would take her back.

But upon hearing this, Feng Feiyan immediately teared up. Without saying anything to Su Yi Jing, she turned to find An Jing and Xiao Changyi.

As soon as she saw An Jing and Xiao Changyi, she said, ”Father, Mother, before I married Yi Jing, I did almost no work, but now that I’m married to Yi Jing, I’m your daughter-in-law, and I want to be a good daughter-in-law.”

”I won’t lie to you, growing vegetables and plowing the land are very strenuous for me now, but no one can learn these things without trying. I beg you to give me time, and once I learn, everything will be fine.”
