Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1918: Chapter 1919: It’s Really Unbearable

But Feng Feiyan didn’t think she couldn’t do anything at all, so she argued with Su Yi Jing, hoping to do some things herself so Su Yi Jing could also relax a bit.

However, Su Yi Jing wasn’t willing to give in at all.

Feng Feiyan could only stand aside and watch Su Yi Jing do the work, but she wasn’t in a good mood.

She was just pregnant, not sick, so why couldn’t she do a little work? Besides, if she did nothing at all, what if her parents-in-law and brother-in-law thought she was using her pregnancy as an excuse to slack off? She didn’t want the good image she worked so hard to build in her parents-in-law and brother-in-law’s minds to be destroyed by her pregnancy.

Seeing Feng Feiyan following behind Su Yi Jing looking unhappy, An Jing was a bit puzzled and walked over to ask Feng Feiyan, ”Qingqing, what’s wrong? Are you in a bad mood?”

Feng Feiyan looked at Su Yi Jing chopping wood before lowering her head and quietly saying, ”Yi Jing won’t let me do any work, not even a little...”

An Jing immediately laughed and said, ”You’re pregnant, of course he can’t let you do any work at all. You need to have a good rest for the baby.”

Seeing that Feng Feiyan wasn’t comforted at all, An Jing laughed again and said, ”This is just how our family is. Every time I was pregnant, your father-in-law wouldn’t let me do any work, especially when I was pregnant with our precious baby. You don’t know, but Yi Jing even came over to serve me. Initially, it was just your father-in-law who wouldn’t let me do any work, but then Yi Jing, representing himself and his brothers, even more so refused to let me do a thing. It’s really thanks to my constitution that I didn’t become as fat as a pig from the pampering.”

Feng Feiyan was amused.

”Alright,” An Jing held Feng Feiyan’s hand and gently patted it kindly, ”Stop overthinking. If you really can’t stay idle, just walk around our house a bit. The worst thing during pregnancy is to stay still and lie down all the time, as it’s not good for the baby’s development. But just walk, stroll slowly, and don’t exert yourself.”

”Okay, I understand, mom.” Feng Feiyan smiled and nodded. It was clear she was successfully comforted by An Jing, no longer dwelling on the fact that Su Yi Jing wouldn’t let her do any work.

Su Yi Jing gratefully glanced at his mom. No matter how he tried to convince Feng Feiyan, she couldn’t accept the idea of doing no work at all. It was thanks to his mom’s intervention that Feng Feiyan could finally accept it.

...

An Yiqing, An Yiyun, An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi always came to An Jing and Xiao Changyi’s place for the New Year, and this year was no exception. The five of them arrived on the twenty-seventh of December.

An Yilin, who had a cleanliness obsession, couldn’t stand the dust and fatigue from the journey. As soon as he got off the horse, he hurriedly rushed into the courtyard, calling out, ”Mom, has sister-in-law prepared my bathwater? I’m so uncomfortable.”

Over the years, An Yilin’s love for cleanliness had grown even more severe, to the point where he could now be considered to have a serious cleanliness obsession. Every time he came to An Jing’s place, the first thing he did was take a bath.

An Jing was already accustomed to An Yilin’s behavior and just laughed, ”Your sister-in-law is pregnant and didn’t prepare your bathwater, but she reminded your brother, and he’s already prepared it for you. Go take a bath in the bathroom.”

”Sister-in-law is pregnant?!” An Yilin was initially delighted before rushing off to the bathroom. ”Let me finish my bath first! It’s too uncomfortable; I feel like all the world’s dirt is on me right now!”

”You just bathed before you left the inn in town, and it’s only been a few hours. Do you really need to bathe again? Sixth brother, is it necessary?” An Yiqi couldn’t understand An Yilin’s obsession with cleanliness and spoke grumpily as he entered the courtyard.
