Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1903: Chapter 1904: You Schemed Against Me

Upon learning of Feng Tianlan’s rebellion, Su Yi Jing suggested to Feng Feiyan to have Liang Zhiyao and Sheng Qingfeng each lead an army to suppress Feng Tianlan.

Feng Feiyan agreed.

A year later, Feng Tianlan, after suffering a military defeat, took his own life, and Liang Zhiyao and Sheng Qingfeng returned in triumph. Feng Feiyan immediately promoted both to Great General.

Half a year ago, the Empress Dowager of Wufeng gave birth to a son, naming him Feng Feiming.

On the day Feng Feiming was born, Feng Feiyan appointed Su Yi Jing as Empress.

Feng Tianji, the Retired Emperor, had long since recovered his health, and now having a son, was full of vigor. With Liang Zhiyao and Sheng Qingfeng’s triumphant return, peace was restored to Wufeng, and the civil and military officials began to ponder, submitting petitions to Feng Feiyan to abdicate, hoping Feng Tianji would once again ascend the throne of Wufeng.

Feng Feiyan and Su Yi Jing originally intended to incite the ministers to submit such a petition, to facilitate Feng Feiyan’s abdication. As it turned out, the ministers voluntarily submitted petitions, leaving them at ease and without need to instigate.

Thus, that day, Feng Feiyan told Feng Tianji that she would ’go with the flow’ and abdicate, returning the throne to Feng Tianji.

Feng Tianji laughed in exasperation and said, ”Feiyan, your father never imagined you would scheme against him.”

”Father...” Feng Feiyan forced a laugh, ”You saw through it all?”

Su Yi Jing remained unfazed and extremely calm.

Feng Tianji snorted, ”Step by step, you plotted me into this, ensuring everything developed in your desired direction. I have been Emperor for over ten years; do you think I couldn’t see through this at all?”

Feng Feiyan continued to laugh awkwardly and said, ”Father, just agree to it. Return to the throne. Furthermore, it is only with you on the throne again that your son Feiming can rightfully inherit it. If I continue as Emperor and have a son, would you want me to pass the throne to my son or to my brother Feiming?”

”While what you say is reasonable and sounds pleasant, it doesn’t change the fact that you schemed against your father.” At this, Feng Tianji looked at Su Yi Jing and asked, ”Alright, tell me, who are you really?”

Afraid that Su Yi Jing would lie again, Feng Tianji added, ”Don’t try to fool me by claiming you’re a farmer’s son. How could a farmer’s son have such demeanor? Could a farmer’s son’s brother be that skilled in medicine? Could a farmer’s son scheme and guide my daughter to plot against me step by step?”

He had long realized that his son-in-law was anything but a farmer’s son.

Su Yi Jing said, ”Father, my surname is Su.”

”Su... Are you a member of the Xiyun imperial family?!” Feng Tianji was shocked beyond words. He had considered countless identities for his son-in-law but never thought of him as a member of the Xiyun imperial family. ”What is your relation to the Emperor of Xiyun and King of Xiyun?”

Su Yi Jing replied, ”King of Xiyun is my father, and I am his eldest son.”

Feng Tianji was even more astonished, unable to stay seated. He stood up and exclaimed, ”You, the dignified Prince of Xiyun, actually married into Feng Feiyan’s family?! Has Xiyun lost all face?”

Su Yi Jing corrected, ”The farmer boy Xiao Yijing, who married your daughter Feng Feiyan, is not the Prince of Xiyun.”

Feng Tianji was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter and said, ”You’re quite cunning. So, all your painstaking efforts to get me back on the Wufeng throne was so that Feiyan wouldn’t be Emperor, allowing her to marry into Xiyun?”

Before Su Yi Jing could speak, Feng Feiyan said, ”Father, if I abdicate, it won’t be easy for me to marry into Xiyun with my past. I’m a woman who has married several men and been the Emperor of Wufeng... Let’s do this instead. At that time, you will say I am your adopted daughter, named Feng Qingqing.”
