Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1924: Chapter 1925: Racked with Guilt

”Heaven is helping me!” Gong Le was especially happy, got up and ran out of the house, into the courtyard to be drenched by the rain.

Watching Gong Le run out so joyfully to get soaked, An Yizhi couldn’t help but worry, ”Fifth brother, sixth brother, Lele going out like this, will she be alright?”

An Yiqi glanced at him, ”Isn’t the point to make her sick? How else would she catch a cold if not drenched by the rain?”

An Yilin looked at the heavy rain outside, and cautiously said, ”Let her get rained on for a while, then we’ll bring her in. A slight cold is enough, but let’s not really let her catch something serious.”

An Yiqi, feeling uneasy after hearing An Yilin’s words, quickly agreed, ”We’ll let her in shortly.”

After a cup of tea’s time, An Yiqi and the others held their umbrellas wanting to bring Gong Le, who was standing in the middle of the courtyard, into the house, but Gong Le said, ”I don’t feel it yet, probably won’t get sick.”

An Yiqi and the others, seeing Gong Le drenched like a drowned rat but in high spirits, realized she probably wouldn’t get sick, so they let her continue.

However, they didn’t go inside either, instead they stood in the rain under their umbrellas, and taught Gong Le a few tricks to deal with An Yiqing.

Gong Le listened, particularly delighted, ”A Qi, A Lin, A Zhi, you all are so good to me.”

An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi immediately felt guilty, not daring to meet Gong Le’s grateful and happy gaze.

Actually, they just wanted her to go bother their third brother, not them, but this silly girl naively thought they genuinely meant well for her, which made them...

...

Because it was raining heavily, An Yiqing wasn’t in the mood to play and returned to the Royal Palace. As soon as he got back, a guard reported to him, ”Third Prince, you’d better go take a look, Miss Gong is standing in your courtyard getting drenched; it’s been two hours.”

Upon hearing this, An Yiqing was startled. In such heavy rain, being exposed for two hours, she’d surely get sick.

Just as An Yiqing hurried back to his courtyard, An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi got the news of his return, and the three of them dashed away immediately, afraid to be caught by An Yiqing.

They hadn’t meant for Gong Le to be in the rain so long, but Gong Le, having stood in the rain for such a long time, still seemed perfectly fine, chatting and laughing with them, displaying great stamina, making them let her continue.

Having been out there so long, she should really get sick on her own by now, they thought.

”A Qi, A Lin, A Zhi, where are you going?” Gong Le, still in the rain, squinted through the rain, but clearly saw An Yiqi and the others running out of the courtyard.

An Yiqi, while running out, still didn’t forget to answer her, ”Third brother’s back, we’re leaving now, keep it up!”

”Alright, I’ll keep it up!” Gong Le immediately clenched her fist, her expression full of determination.

And just as An Yiqi and the others ran off, Gong Le gave a huge sneeze, her head feeling even dizzier.

Actually, she had already started feeling light-headed, but she felt it wasn’t enough to get sick, so she pretended to be fine and continued standing in the rain.

When An Yiqing came running into the courtyard with an umbrella, he saw Gong Le pale-faced, standing in the middle of his courtyard, getting drenched, and he immediately flew into a rage, striding towards Gong Le while grumbling angrily, ”Gong Le, I don’t think you’re stupid, you’re just sick! Can’t you see the house is right there? Why stand here in the rain? And for so long!”
