Chapter 1690: Chapter 1691: Rather Die Fighting Than Wait for Death

”Ugh...” This was the sound Dongfang Tianchong made as he died.

”Hiss...” This was the sound Xiao Changyi made when his back was slashed.

”Prince!” This was the voice urgently cried out by the Deputy General, cavalry, infantry, and other Dongqing soldiers. Especially the Deputy General, who never expected Xiao Changyi to move so fast. Before they could even react, their Prince had been killed by Xiao Changyi.

”Master!” This was the sound Meng Zhuqing and his group made immediately when they saw Xiao Changyi get slashed.

All these sounds were made simultaneously.

The battle was triggered at this moment.

One hundred thousand troops charged towards Xiao Changyi, Meng Zhuqing, Meng Lanqing, Gong Juese, Tobanya, and Qin Yi.

Meng Zhuqing, Meng Lanqing, Gong Juese, Tobanya, and Qin Yi surrounded the injured Xiao Changyi, killing anyone who attacked them.

Although they were struggling desperately, it was absolutely impossible for them to stand still and let the Dongqing soldiers kill them. Even if they were to die, they would take some people with them to their grave!

Xiao Changyi had several wounds on his arm, his back was slashed open, and blood was flowing out. Xiao Changyi took out the golden sore medicine and hastily applied it to his wounds to stop the bleeding. Only then did he wield his longsword again, no longer letting Meng Zhuqing and the others protect him, and instead joined in the enemy killing.

Better to die in battle than to wait for death!

Just as Xiao Changyi started fighting again, several thousand masked individuals rushed in from all directions, joining the battle.

Since the Dongqing’s army of a hundred thousand had heavily surrounded Xiao Changyi and his group, like a sea of darkness with no end in sight, Xiao Changyi and his group had yet to realize that masked people were assisting them.

It wasn’t until thirty masked individuals had carved a bloody path through and were near Xiao Changyi’s side that they finally noticed.

By that time, Xiao Changyi and his group had already killed many enemies.

The ground was littered with the bodies of Dongqing soldiers.

When they realized that there were masked people helping them, Xiao Changyi and his group were instantly overjoyed, as it represented a glimmer of hope for survival.

Thirty masked individuals fought their way to Xiao Changyi’s side, then spread out around him, killing those Dongqing soldiers who were attacking Xiao Changyi and his group.

The other masked individuals continued fighting on the periphery, gradually making their way towards Xiao Changyi’s position.

The Dongqing soldiers saw their heavy losses, yet they dared not easily retreat. The Emperor Dongfang Tianyang had insisted that Xiao Changyi must be beheaded, and for now, they could only press on.

The leader of the masked men stood beside Xiao Changyi. Seeing the blood continuously oozing from Xiao Changyi’s back, realizing that if he didn’t leave for treatment soon he might die from blood loss, he immediately ordered, ”You ten, come with me and escort Young Master Xiao to safety. The rest of you, eliminate all these people for me!”

”Yes!” All the nearby masked individuals immediately received the order.

Then, the leader of the masked men, leading ten others, carved out another bloody path to escort Xiao Changyi to safety.

Meng Zhuqing and the others also realized that it was not the time to kill enemies, but more important to save their master, so they helped clear a path and escorted Xiao Changyi to safety.

By this time, Xiao Changyi had stopped resisting and allowed himself to be escorted away.

Just a moment ago, he thought he would die here, preferring to fall in battle, but now that he could live, why not? His wife was still waiting for him to save her.

Xiao Changyi almost stepped over the corpses of Dongqing soldiers as he left, not leaving the Dongqing Imperial City but instead being taken by the leader of the masked men to a brothel.
