Chapter 1674: Chapter 1675: Received the News

Empress Xu, upon hearing this, was instantly filled with hatred, but being helpless to do anything, she could only accept that she deserved it.

An Jing said nothing, watching Empress Xu and Dongfang Tianyang as if watching a monkey show. However, she could tell that the relationship between Dongfang Tianyang and Empress Xu was not good.

”Empress, if you have no business here, please leave. Do not come here again in the future. If you force your way in again, no matter the reason, I will have to charge you with insubordination.”

”Yes, I will definitely heed the Emperor’s teachings and will not come to visit Concubine Intention, my sister.” Clearly, An Jing looked older than her. If it weren’t to avoid Dongfang Tianyang punishing her, Empress Xu would never have called An Jing ”sister.”

Empress Xu felt particularly uncomfortable deep down.

An Jing didn’t care. After all, she never admitted she was Dongfang Tianyang’s Concubine Intention. So, Empress Xu calling her ”concubine sister” was just like her calling anyone else, completely meaningless to her.

After Empress Xu left with her entourage, Dongfang Tianyang smiled at An Jing and said, ”I heard the Empress came to you, and I was quite worried about you. Turns out, my worry was for nothing.”

An Jing ignored Dongfang Tianyang and continued reading her book.

Dongfang Tianyang had gotten used to An Jing constantly ignoring him, but still felt uneasy. After making small talk with An Jing, he returned to handling memorials on land.

...

When Empress Xu left An Jing, she returned to her own palace.

She then threw a fit of rage in her palace. Just as her mother visited her, she immediately cried out due to grievance, ”Mother, the Emperor hasn’t come to my palace for a long time. When can I ever conceive a child? The Emperor only goes to that mysterious fox spirit every day. I went to see that fox spirit today, and she can’t compare to me at all. She’s even mentally disturbed, claiming she’s the Queen of Xiyun.”

Mrs. Xu didn’t pay much attention to Empress Xu’s last words. She merely comforted Empress Xu while asking in confusion, ”What mysterious fox spirit?”

”She just suddenly appeared in the Imperial Palace. I don’t know her background, but the Emperor likes her a lot. He gives her everything good and goes to her every day.”

”This...” Mrs. Xu furrowed her brow. However, with three thousand beauties in the harem, it was hard to compete with all of them. Mrs. Xu could only console Empress Xu, advising her to curry favor with Dongfang Tianyang to become pregnant soon and secure her position as Empress.

Although comforting Empress Xu that way, Mrs. Xu was still quite worried.

Because of her worry, when Mrs. Xu returned home from the palace, she often mentioned it. With many people in the Xu Mansion, where there are many people, there are many mouths. Soon, the tale of a mysterious Concubine in the palace spread from her home to the outside.

...

Time passed quickly, and soon it was the twenty-first of August. An Jing had been kidnapped by Dongfang Tianyang’s people on the twenty-first of May. By now, it had been exactly three months since she was taken.

An Jing was waiting for Xiao Changyi to find her, while Xiao Changyi continued his search in Nan Chi. Meanwhile, Gong Juechen finally received some news.

”Building Master, Peony has identified them. That person should be from Dongqing.” The subordinate reported with utmost respect.

”Dongqing...” Gong Juechen murmured, his peach blossom eyes slightly narrowed, looking dangerous, though it was unclear what he was thinking.

”Moreover, Building Master, according to the spies in Dongqing, there’s a rumor currently circulating in the Imperial City of Dongqing. It’s unclear whether it’s true or false.”
