Chapter 1670: Chapter 1671: Otherwise, the Consequences Will Be Severe

Although Dongfang Tianchong did not agree with her proposal, An Jing quite appreciated Dongfang Tianchong’s approach.

Taking a sip of tea, An Jing continued, ”Since you won’t let me go back, you’d better not let my husband know we’ve been captured by you, otherwise the consequences will be even more severe.”

Separation would only intensify her husband’s longing for her and deepen his hatred for the culprit who caused their separation.

An Jing’s words were so clear and easy to understand, how could Dongfang Tianchong not grasp the meaning within? Not knowing what to say, he simply sighed deeply, ”Sigh...”

An Jing took another sip of tea and slowly smiled, ”I heard that the Prince once feared that after my husband died in battle no one would compete with you, so not only did he withdraw his troops but also persuaded other countries to withdraw theirs.”

Dongfang Tianchong scratched his head rather sheepishly, ”I only have one hobby, which is sparring with masters.”

An Jing said, ”Just afraid that my husband, this master, will never be able to spar with you.”

Dongfang Tianchong immediately sensed something was wrong, ”What does the Queen mean by this?”

An Jing smiled slightly first and then said, ”Your kind younger brother Dongfang Tianyang has been sending people to assassinate my husband all along.”

Dongfang Tianchong immediately became anxious. If Xiao Changyi died, who would he spar with in the future?

Right now, no one in Dongqing was his match.

”Queen, I have matters to attend to, so I’ll excuse myself.” Without saying much more, Dongfang Tianchong stood up, gave An Jing a respectful and equal gesture, and urgently departed.

An Jing watched Dongfang Tianchong leave until his figure disappeared from her sight, then looked towards the direction where the King of Xiyun’s mansion was located, murmuring in her heart, ”Husband, I really hope Dongfang Tianchong can persuade him, that way you’ll be a bit safer.”

...

Once he left the Quiet Heart Garden, Dongfang Tianchong went to find Dongfang Tianyang again. As soon as he found Dongfang Tianyang, Dongfang Tianchong demanded whether Dongfang Tianyang had sent people to assassinate Xiao Changyi.

”Emperor, if the assassination succeeds, who will I spar with in the future?” At this moment, Dongfang Tianchong was truly anxious.

Dongfang Tianyang understood that his royal brother was a martial arts fanatic, so he did not get angry but reasoned with Dongfang Tianchong, ”Royal brother, if the assassination succeeds, Xiyun will undoubtedly fall into chaos, and they wouldn’t be in any mindset to wage war against us, allowing us to rest easy for quite a while.”

Dongfang Tianchong also understood this reasoning, but: ”I still want to have a one-on-one spar with Su Changyi; I want to win fair and square against Su Changyi once.”

”Royal brother, for Dongqing’s sake, just bear with it; you wouldn’t want to see Xiao Changyi lead troops to attack our Dongqing, right? Even if he can’t defeat us, he would still cause casualties for Dongqing.”

Only then did Dongfang Tianchong compromise, feeling particularly downhearted, he said, ”Alright, for Dongqing’s sake, I’ll endure.”

Dongfang Tianyang didn’t want to see his royal brother in such a downcast mood either; he still had great admiration for this royal brother. However, it truly would be better to successfully assassinate Su Changyi.

Therefore, Dongfang Tianyang didn’t say much more about this and instead shifted the topic, saying, ”Royal brother, I’ve ordered that no one is allowed to enter the Quiet Heart Garden, yet you still barged in?”

”Forgive me, Emperor,” Dongfang Tianchong’s attention was immediately diverted, and he hastily clasped his fists and knelt to plead, ”I was just curious and wanted to see what the person who captivated the Emperor’s heart looks like.”
