Chapter 1689: Chapter 1690: He Brought This Upon Himself

The Deputy General wanted to say something else, but with a fierce glance from Dongfang Tianchong, he immediately fell silent and said no more.

However, he had already made up his mind that if Dongfang Tianchong fell into a disadvantage during the duel with Xiao Changyi, he would order the hundred thousand soldiers to besiege Xiao Changyi, lest anything happen to Dongfang Tianchong and they be unable to account to the Emperor.

The Emperor’s most beloved person was this royal brother, Dongfang Tianchong.

”All of you step back a bit, this place is too small, it’s inconvenient for the King and King of Xiyun to duel,” Dongfang Tianchong commanded the cavalry.

The cavalry surrounding Xiao Changyi and the others immediately pulled back their horses, leaving a large area for Dongfang Tianchong and Xiao Changyi to duel.

”Brother Su,” Dongfang Tianchong clasped his fists toward Xiao Changyi, ”I’ve practiced a lot over the years to defeat you, and Tianchong doesn’t hope Brother Su’s martial arts have also improved, but Tianchong also doesn’t hope Brother Su’s skills have regressed, otherwise, it would be no fun to fight.”

Xiao Changyi merely curled his lips coldly, without speaking.

”Brother Su, please.” Dongfang Tianchong once again displayed a magnanimous demeanor, clasping his fists towards Xiao Changyi, indicating that they could begin.

Xiao Changyi, however, remained on Zhuri, motionless.

Having said please, Dongfang Tianchong stopped talking. He spurred his horse and charged at Xiao Changyi with his great axe.

As Dongfang Tianchong said, he had indeed practiced a lot over the years. Xiao Changyi could feel only after two moves that Dongfang Tianchong was much stronger than before.

Although he was much stronger than before, Xiao Changyi was not struggling to cope, yet he didn’t gain any advantage.

He had fought many people, and the current Dongfang Tianchong’s skills surpassed anyone he had encountered before.

Naturally, he dared not let his guard down.

If it were a friendly spar, it would stop at the point, but now, how could it possibly stop there? Just after Xiao Changyi wounded Dongfang Tianchong with a sword, Dongfang Tianchong immediately retaliated.

Those around were even more tense than the combatants themselves.

Among them, Meng Zhuqing and Meng Lanqing already had their hands on their sword hilts, ready to assist Xiao Changyi at any moment.

The Deputy General and the cavalry were also gripping their weapons, appearing ready to help Dongfang Tianchong at any time.

In short, the atmosphere was extremely tense and charged.

It was also at this moment that Dongqing’s infantry arrived, all running from all directions, surrounding the cavalry, so that Xiao Changyi and the others were layer upon layer encircled.

Xiao Changyi caught sight from the corner of his eye of the densely packed sea of black heads stretching endlessly, he secretly thought to himself that this wasn’t good.

Meng Zhuqing and the others felt even more that they were destined to die here.

There were only six of them; no matter how skilled they were, they couldn’t withstand such a sea of people strategy.

However, even if they believed they would die here, they did not feel any fear.

Distracted for a moment, Xiao Changyi was slashed again by Dongfang Tianchong’s axe.

This time, Xiao Changyi dared not be careless at all.

With the mentality of wanting to kill one more enemy even if he were to die here, and even better if he could kill the highest commander of the enemy, Xiao Changyi focused all his efforts on dealing with Dongfang Tianchong.

He even deliberately let himself fall into Dongfang Tianchong’s strategy. Just as Dongfang Tianchong’s axe struck his back, he bent his elbow and thrust his sword fiercely toward Dongfang Tianchong’s throat.

Caught off guard, Dongfang Tianchong couldn’t withdraw his momentum to protect his neck, and the sword pierced through his throat instantly.
