Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1679: Chapter 1680: Unwilling

This Jade Flute is one of many things sent by Dongfang Tianyang. An Jing doesn’t particularly like it, but it’s just handy to use, so she uses it. Anyway, if you don’t use it, it’s wasted.

After playing a rendition of ”Happy Birthday,” An Jing remained silent for a while, then once again brought the flute to her lips.

This time she played ”Liangzhou Melody.”

She still clearly remembers the first tune she played for her husband was this one.

The more she played, the less An Jing was immersed in the atmosphere of the melody; instead, she increasingly longed for her husband.

And her seven children.

No matter how good it is here, it can’t compare to home. Simply because, here, there is no husband, and no seven children of hers.

Even before entering the Quiet Heart Garden, Dongfang Tianyang heard the sorrowful tune, hesitated slightly, but still entered. He was a bit surprised that the tune was played by An Jing, yet he walked towards her, stopping three steps away from An Jing.

Without interrupting her playing, he just stood there, quietly listening to An Jing play.

With the end of ”Liangzhou Melody,” An Jing’s longing for her husband and children peaked, naturally increasing her hatred towards Dongfang Tianyang, the one who caused their separation. Seeing Dongfang Tianyang standing there, An Jing almost wished to kill him.

Dongfang Tianyang was quite skilled himself, and An Jing couldn’t guarantee she could kill him. Even if she could, now was not the time; once she killed Dongfang Tianyang, the palace guards would surely surround her, and she would end up buried with this Monarch, Dongfang Tianyang.

However, Dongfang Tianyang did not notice An Jing’s hatred, instead savoring the tune she just played. Seeing that An Jing didn’t continue with a new song, he smiled and asked, ”Why isn’t Jing Er continuing? The piece you just played, I’ve never heard it before, but it’s lovely.”

After a pause, Dongfang Tianyang added, ”I only thought of giving you good things, but never imagined you could play the flute.”

An Jing placed the flute back on the table, picked up the tea beside her, and slowly drank it while smiling, ”The song I just played, I often played it for my husband to listen to. Back then, he personally cut bamboo to make two flutes, one for me, one for him. The flute I have has his name engraved on it, and his flute has mine. My husband and I truly were in love.”

As she spoke, An Jing sighed blissfully.

Her words, each and every one, were meant to stab at him, to annoy him.

Dongfang Tianyang’s heart instantly felt clogged, burning with jealousy. Perhaps he was used to An Jing always infuriating him like this, but for a long time, unlike before, he didn’t sweep away in a huff. Instead, he sighed, bitterly smiled, and said, ”Can you not mention him?”

”No,” An Jing smiled, her face blooming like a flower, ”How could I, when my mind is full of him~”

Dongfang Tianyang felt even more stifled. After a moment, he sighed again, ”Feel free to speak in a way that irks me, I believe that given more time, you will see my virtues and slowly accept me.”

An Jing immediately burst into laughter, ”Now I’m too lazy to say you’re dreaming.”

Dongfang Tianyang didn’t know what to say anymore.

His eyes fell on the jade flute on the table, and then he spoke again, ”Would Jing Er be willing to play a tune for me?”

”Unwilling,” An Jing replied sharply and cleanly. The songs she played earlier were for her children, for her husband, as for this Dongfang Tianyang, dreaming of her playing for him, dream on!
