Chapter 1688: Chapter 1689: Surrounded

...

Come Full Inn.

”Master!” Qin Yi suddenly burst in.

”Didn’t I ask you to deliver a message? How did you come back so quickly?” Although Xiao Changyi was a bit surprised, he remained expressionless.

It had only been four hours since Qin Yi left the inn.

Qin Yi immediately said, ”Two people were tracking me, so I found a secluded spot, dealt with them, and learned from them that they were attendants of a Military Officer from Dongqing. I inquired about that officer and discovered that he had once been on a mission to Xiyun with Dongfang Tianyang. Master, our whereabouts are likely exposed! Please leave here quickly to avoid unforeseen events!”

Both Meng Zhuqing and the others were taken aback; according to what Qin Yi said, their whereabouts were indeed likely exposed to Dongfang Tianyang. Since Dongqing and Xiyun were at daggers drawn, if Dongfang Tianyang knew their master was here, he would surely send someone to kill their master.

”Master, please leave quickly!” Meng Zhuqing and the others also urgently requested.

Staying at this inn was likely courting death, and if he died, who would save his wife? With no other choice, Xiao Changyi immediately agreed that they should leave the inn first.

That Military Officer was already watching the Come Full Inn with a group. As soon as Xiao Changyi and the others left the inn, he immediately sent people in pursuit, both to see if they could kill Xiao Changyi and to buy time.

The Third Prince had already led troops, stationing two hundred thousand troops outside the Imperial City, with the Third Prince leading one hundred thousand into the city. Judging by the time, they should be arriving soon.

The civilians, upon seeing a fight break out, feared the blind swords would harm them and quickly hid in their homes.

Street vendors also packed up and left.

Xiao Changyi and Meng Zhuqing showed no mercy at all. Quickly, all those brought by the Military Officer were killed by Xiao Changyi and them. That Military Officer, terrified, tried to flee, but with a spin, Xiao Changyi swiped his longsword, slitting the officer’s throat, and he fell down.

Xiao Changyi didn’t even glance at the officer, mounted his horse again, and intended to leave with Meng Zhuqing and the others.

But before they could depart, numerous hoofbeats approached. Soon, Dongfang Tianchong led a large group of cavalry surrounding them from all directions, while infantry followed behind.

Even though they couldn’t yet see the infantry, they heard the loud sound of foot soldiers marching, indicating there were many of them.

”Brother Su, we meet again!” Dongfang Tianchong did not immediately order the cavalry to attack Xiao Changyi and his group but greeted Xiao Changyi warmly.

Xiao Changyi remained silent, just watching Dongfang Tianchong.

Dongfang Tianchong was unconcerned and continued to laugh heartily, ”Brother Su, do you remember I said when Tianchong withdrew his troops last time that if we meet again, I must have another duel with you? Now that we’ve met, I hope you won’t begrudge me a fight, Brother Su.”

Xiao Changyi finally spoke, ”If I defeat you again, will you withdraw your troops?”

Dongfang Tianchong was startled at first, then laughed heartily, ”Times have changed; Tianchong would not dare be so reckless again.”

”Then I will kill you.”

Dongfang Tianchong laughed even louder, ”Brother Su, are you agreeing to have another duel with Tianchong? That would be wonderful. Even if Tianchong dies by your sword, Brother Su, I would have no regrets.”

”Prince!” the Deputy General beside Dongfang Tianchong became anxious.

”Say no more,” Dongfang Tianchong scolded. ”Today, I must openly duel with the King of Xiyun. Defeating the King of Xiyun has always been my wish, and today I hope to fulfill that wish.”
