Chapter 1684: Chapter 1685: You Refuse the Road to Heaven

Once the two letters were written, Xiao Changyi sent the letter that summoned eighteen dead warriors to rendezvous with him via Qin Yi, while the letter commanding Qi Tengfei to immediately attack Dongqing was handed to Qin Er to deliver.

Originally there were seven people in the group, but now two were gone, leaving only five.

Knowing where his wife was but unable to see her rashly, Xiao Changyi’s heart could not settle, yet he tried hard to suppress himself, preventing any mistakes due to impatience.

What Xiao Changyi did not know was that as soon as Qin Yi and Qin Er left the inn, they were noticed by a Military Officer of Dongqing. More precisely, it was Qin Yi who was noticed by the officer.

The officer had once gone on a mission to Xiyun with Dongfang Tianyang. At that time, Dongfang Tianyang was on a mission to Xiyun to congratulate Xiyun for annexing Chilin as its territory, while he was waiting outside the hall.

While he was waiting outside the congratulatory hall, Su Changyi, the King of Xiyun, entered the hall, and there seemed to be this person following beside Su Changyi.

Back then, Qin Yi indeed followed Su Changyi in the capacity of a guard.

The officer, accompanied by two others, happened to pass by. Seeing Qin Yi emerging from the inn, he instructed the two with him to follow Qin Yi and find out what he was doing in the Dongqing Imperial City.

Immediately, the officer walked up to the inn’s entrance, thinking that since Qin Yi came out from this inn, perhaps he could inquire something from the shopkeeper inside.

But before he entered, he sharply noticed Su Changyi standing by a window in a room on the inn’s second floor, which scared him into quickly hiding in a corner to avoid being seen by Su Changyi.

Upstairs, Xiao Changyi merely stood by the window for a look, then closed the window.

Seeing Xiao Changyi close the window, the officer first glanced at the inn’s name before hurrying to the palace to see Dongfang Tianyang.

”Emperor! Emperor! Something’s terribly wrong! Something’s terribly wrong! Emperor!” The officer didn’t even see Dongfang Tianyang before shouting in a panic.

Dongfang Tianyang immediately rebuked, ”Shouting and yelling before the Emperor, what decorum is this? Do you believe I won’t have your head cut off?!”

The officer immediately knelt with a thud, ”Forgive me, Emperor, forgive me! I lost my sense due to urgent matters to report. Truly, something’s terribly wrong, Emperor!”

Dongfang Tianyang put down the imperial brush he was using to review memorials, snorted, ”If there is nothing significant, I’ll have your head for it.”

”It is significant! Emperor, just now I saw the King of Xiyun outside the palace, he’s staying at the ’Come Full Inn’. I don’t know what he’s secretly doing in our Dongqing Imperial City.”

Dongfang Tianyang was so startled he immediately stood up and asked, ”Are you sure you didn’t see wrong?”

”I saw very clearly, it was definitely the King of Xiyun. I had accompanied the Emperor to Xiyun before, and met the King of Xiyun, also saw the guards beside the King of Xiyun before. Just now, both the King of Xiyun and his guard were seen by me, it’s absolutely true. I wouldn’t dare fool the Emperor!”

”Good! Very good!” Dongfang Tianyang’s eyes lit up, particularly excited, as if he had already slain Xiao Changyi. ”There’s a path to heaven that you didn’t take, but here you are barging into hell with no doors! I was just looking for you, Su Changyi, and since you’ve managed to find your way here, naturally I won’t let you leave alive!”

Then, Dongfang Tianyang commanded, ”Someone, convey my order, instruct General Chen to lead an army of a hundred thousand to surround the Come Full Inn, make sure to have Su Changyi’s head fall.”
