Pillar of Yita

”Wait, what does it mean that the record isn’t at the Adventurers’ Guild?” Fang Hong pressed on with another question.

Tianlan immediately explained, ”It’s like this: the record did exist, and the staff confirmed this fact. But not long ago, someone transferred it out. And although in theory, there should be a copy left behind, in reality, there wasn’t, so there was a gap where the record should have been—”

”Then who transferred out that record?”

Tianlan shook her head, ”I don’t know that, Brother Ade, only that it was an official from the Adventurers’ Guild, and there’s no more information than that.”

She cutely spread her hands, indicating that the trail ended there.

Fang Hong looked at the others, and receiving similar responses from them, he furrowed his brow, pondering why someone would transfer this record. Officials of the Adventurers’ Guild wouldn’t move a record without reason, and the fact that this action was so blatantly targeted was obvious.

As for the staff erasing the copy, was it an operational mistake or was it done under someone’s instruction? If it were the latter, the intrigue involved was much too great.

Hilveld also seemed to have thought in the same direction, she then said, ”Maybe who transferred the record isn’t important, but if there’s an inside man within the Guild—”

”Then we need to be more careful from now on.”

The others also grew solemn upon hearing this.

Indeed, no one had anticipated this possibility, that the culprit behind Atira’s brother’s death might have an undisclosed ally within the Adventurers’ Guild, thus eliminating the only trace they left behind.

As events unfolded, some things slipped beyond their control, considering the Guild’s high-ranking officials were nearly all deeply connected with the Kingdom’s noble circles, some being high-ranking nobles themselves, or at least having related interests.

It was a stratum of society that seemed remote to them for the time being, and coupled with the traces of the Dragon Worship Sect they had previously unearthed, it was hard not to associate these with the chaos involving the Dragon’s Witch that happened a century ago.

Although most present were Chosen ones, or elves like Atira from Giant Tree Hill with no personal stake in the history of Colin Ishurian, the events in Dolifen remained vivid in their minds, which were but the aftermath of the Dragon’s Witch incident.

The thought of being caught up in such a vortex left everyone momentarily speechless.

This event, which started in Tarun’s Traveler’s Swamp, related to an Adventure Group and the bizarre disappearance of their Starlight, was getting increasingly complex and intertwined after crossing the seas to Golande.

Especially Tianlan, Luo Yu, and Gita, the Trainees who had earlier investigated this matter with Atira, couldn’t help but furrow their brows. They were the first to get involved in the inquiry and had witnessed firsthand how the incident evolved from its uncomplicated beginnings to the seemingly bottomless vortex it was today.

The mastermind lurking behind the scenes seemed foggy enough during the investigation in Elpaxin, but had never appeared as elusive and baffling as it did today.

For a moment, they all looked to Atira, seemingly waiting for her decision.

After a brief silence, the Elf Girl spoke, ”Since the trail has gone cold, there’s no need to overthink it before we find them. Didn’t I say it before? We have time, there’s no need to rush.” Despite her words, her tone did not signal any intention of giving up.

The others fell silent, knowing Atira was saying this to prevent them from getting involved. But given her character, she would undoubtedly continue her silent investigation until the truth of her brother’s death was unveiled.

Seeing everyone a bit lost, Fang Hong took the initiative to break the silence, ”Actually, there’s good and bad to this situation, it all depends on how you look at it—on one hand, the enemy has erased the records, but at the same time, they have also exposed themselves, haven’t they?”

In his heart, he never saw the problem as overly complex.

”Their actions have also revealed their accomplice in the Artisan Association. Admittedly, we’re still clueless about this, but this time at least the enemy is in the light and we are in the dark.”

”Ultimately, a lie always needs more lies to cover it up. It’s false and can never become truth. As long as we follow this thread, one day the water will recede and the stone will appear, the truth will come out.”

”Now, it’s our turn to take the initiative—”

His words undeniably gave confidence to everyone else.

Tianlan’s eyes sparkled, and she nodded vigorously, ”Yeah, even if the mastermind is connected with those nobles, what of it? Aren’t we the Chosen ones? Why should we fear them? Even Nikopolas was defeated by Brother Ade, wasn’t he?”

She even shook her little fist energetically, ”Maybe we don’t have the strength today, but there will come a day when we grow stronger and finally find the culprit behind the death of Sister Atira’s brother!”

After speaking, the young girl turned back to the Elf Girl, seeking approval, ”Am I right, Sister Atira?”

Atira couldn’t help but smile inwardly as she affectionately stroked her golden curls. However, she knew where their confidence stemmed from and couldn’t help but turn to the boy who seemed unfazed and clear about the situation.
