Pillar of Yita

”Miss Hilveld, step back a bit behind me and be careful not to get too close,”

As the man let out a bestial growl, Fang Hong extended his hand, protected the Miss Ship’s Officer behind him, and spoke.

Hilveld understood his intention, nodded, and stepped back before opening the suitcase, taking out the Magic Guided Fire Gun, and assembling it. Her already striking demeanor, combined with the elegant silver Magic Guided Gun, dazzled everyone present.

However, only the Magic Guided Conductor and the man paid no attention to this. And the latter, growling lowly—as if his mind was indeed not quite clear—didn’t immediately opt for the weaker Fang Hong as the breach point, but instead lunged straight at the Magic Guided Conductor.

The Magic Guided Conductor seemed to have anticipated this. He raised his right hand, his index finger making a horizontal motion, then down left, and finally a stroke to the right bottom, drawing three silver lines that joined to form an equilateral triangle. With his fingers spread wide, he pushed forward, and an invisible wall materialized, colliding with the man.

This was a Power System Spell, the Shield of Law, a second-ring spell of the Magic Guided Conductor, mainly reliant on the caster’s intelligence attribute. Unless the Burst Strength check reached above 40, one couldn’t break through its defense.

But the use of this spell was not very sophisticated, even somewhat crude, ”Could it be a bit too early?” Fang Hong also noticed this and frowned.

Despite being reduced to instinct, the man sensed an opportunity. With a push of his hands against the ground, his body ballooned in size, with lines of silver light emerging from beneath his skin, tracing along his knotted muscles and extending towards his neck, cheeks, and under the eyelids.

Then, with a roar, he rammed forward with great force. Everyone saw a flash of blue light; the Shield of Law, not yet fully formed, shattered instantly.

The man burst forth like a beast released from ice, lunging forward mid-air and reaching a hand towards the Magic Guided Conductor. Others couldn’t help but let out a cry of alarm. Hilveld also raised her gun, but Fang Hong lifted a hand to her Magic Guided Gun: ”Wait—”

The Magic Guided Conductor stood firm, unmoved, his silver eyes cold as steel, simply watching the ’beast’ pounce at him. His summoned golem also stood to the side, showing no intention to act—He raised his right hand, apparently without any intention of changing the spell, and once again a Shield of Law materialized in front of the man.

The man roared in defiance, his right hand punching through the layers of the Shield of Law, but it seemed endless, layer after layer reforming before him.

He advanced step by step, but eventually, even he had his limits.

Panting heavily, he stared with incredulous bloodshot eyes at all that was happening. His bloody hand finally came to a rest before an invisible wall of force, leaving only a fresh red handprint.

No more, no less, exactly the seventh layer of the Shield of Law.

Such a quick casting speed—

That was the collective thought in the hall at that moment, with most finally regaining their senses after the lightning-fast exchange.

There was no doubt that the man was a Berserker, one of the specialized professions most prized for strength among the Heavy Warriors. It’s called ’specialized’ because this vocational skill is not one that can be acquired in the common guild halls, and there are also requirements beyond one’s lineage.

This was a high-rank profession, at least level 22 or above, requiring a series of prerequisite skills, knowledge, and bloodline to learn its first Core Skill—Ancient Revival—from the Istania Clan, far from civilization.

And yet such a professional was halted by this Magic Guided Conductor from the Council of Steel with just a second-ring spell, and the opponent didn’t even need to cast an extra one. Seven Shields of Law, not one more or less, held him at bay.

This indicated that the Magic Guided Conductor had thoroughly calculated everything, with plenty to spare.

And how exactly had the other managed to cast spells in that instant? The others quietly questioned this among themselves, with several Invokers turning their gazes towards the leader of their group, an elder, but he too shook his head—how could he possibly have seen it clearly.

However, he had already discerned the identity of their opponent, the Invoker from Eteliria, belonging to the Council of Steel; there was only one of that age.

Among everyone present, only Fang Hong watched with a sense of emotion. The opponent had cast four spells in total, interspersing the act with the Super-Magic Technique of duplicating spells, their movements swift, appearing seamless.

This was the Invoker and Magic Guided Conductor he remembered—

He couldn’t help but think of Qin Zhi, the Ranger whom the Morning Dawn Star had once encountered. He had fought with him once, but that was just a surprise.

In the forest under that piece of the Silver Moon, a single person stood like a chasm that kept most of their team from advancing. If not for the sudden appearance of a Giant Construct, they probably would have been wiped out there.

Although he was an opponent, and Fang Hong disapproved of his methods, he had to admit that this person was the most reminiscent of an Invoker from the Secondary World he had encountered since he came to this world.

Besides him, only the young Magic Guided Conductor they saw now possessed that similar trait, what people call the potential of a top-tier, with a chance to enter that world someday.

And as for people like Wu Di, Liuli Yue, and Red Leaf, as well as the young Combat Artisan from the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team he had crossed paths with, although gifted, they were too young. In a place like Eteliria where talented newcomers abound by the thousands, how many could eventually step into the Secondary World?
