Pillar of Yita

This may also be due to the fact that it’s a prototype, as one can see irrational designs from various aspects.

At this point, the store owner placed his hand on the old construct and then said:

”It was discarded because its combat capabilities were too weak. The designers continuously improved its combat capabilities in subsequent designs, but its true brilliance wasn’t actually in combat, as the Shadow Blade II and Shadow Blade III, no matter how much they were strengthened, could not compare with the Fearless One or the Sword Bearer.”

Fang Hong deeply agreed—this was probably why the Shadow Blade series significantly reduced the simulacrum module, and the Shadow Blade II and III models even lost the teleportation capability. In his view, this was essentially missing the point. Of course, the designer might have had other ideas, but he found it hard to appreciate them.

After all, he didn’t need straightforward combat capabilities, for the Mirrorer suited him well.

Some might say, why not just equip the Mirrorer with a core crystal of higher magic power output and solve all problems? But it’s not that simple; the main crystal is the core of a flexible construct, and a higher magic power output crystal would mean a higher level requirement for the operator and the main magic guided reactor.

If the core crystal were further enhanced, compared with the Shadow Blade, it certainly wouldn’t be Sword Bearers and Fearless Ones of this level anymore; that’s a whole other problem.

Of course, one could use some special crystals; high-quality special crystals can provide more magic power output at the same level, but the problem is, as a mass-produced construct, the Mirrorer obviously doesn’t have this condition.

”I’ll take this one,” Fang Hong was very satisfied with the store owner’s recommendation: ”But I need the design schematic.”

Perhaps seeing Fang Hong agreeing with his opinion, the store owner looked at him somewhat surprised and then fetched the design schematic. When Fang Hong received the design schematic, he was momentarily taken aback; he realized it was actually an original schematic.

What is an original schematic?

In fact, most magic guided stores and the Artisan Association provide schematics to Chosen and natives, which are special authorized schematics that can be produced an unlimited number of times, but cannot be modified on the schematic basis.

However, an original schematic is different; it is a copy of the original drawing from its initial design, allowing craftsmen to make changes based on the original—not just to add reinforced accessories to the produced constructs—though of course, the Mirrorer has a total combat bearing of only 4 kg, so there’s not much in the way of reinforced accessories to be added.

But original schematics are very rare and, when they occasionally appear, they are exorbitantly priced. Fang Hong, thinking that the store owner had made a mistake, couldn’t help but shake his head: ”I can’t afford this schematic, Mr. Karlanster.”

But the store owner just looked at him coldly: ”This relic only has this schematic left, as people think its design failed, and there are not many copies of it left. If you want it, I’ll sell it to you for one and a half times the original price.”

Although that was an increase of half the price, for an original, it was almost like giving it away.

This was probably because the ’Mirrorer’ had too many issues and nobody was interested; after all, this thing has a calculative power requirement of 110, and the Illusion Generator rank is too low, which really limited its usefulness for characters above Level 25, so there’s no case of high-level Combat Artisans picking this up again.

However, for Fang Hong, it was a good find; he paid the money and carefully stored the schematic away, feeling like he had found a bargain.

Regarding the other ’Military Governor’ construct, he purchased the ’Military Governor III model.’ This device was essentially a mobile Shield Generator, with nothing much to commend it.

Its main function was to convert one-tenth of its own magic power output into a shield for allied units within a twenty-five-meter radius, or to form an omnidirectional shield covering a three-meter range for three seconds, which would then burn out due to overload.

The Energy Angel could also create a similar shield, but the side effects were too severe. As his main combat construct, Fang Hong would not let the Energy Angel deplete its magic power constantly. In fact, it was because of the Energy Angel’s abilities that he thought of such a special construct.

The only problem with the ’Military Governor’ series was that it moved too slowly, roughly equivalent to the ’Fortress’ he once designed, with the ’Military Governor III model’ being slightly faster than its original model, but only slightly.

Initially, Fang Hong wanted the ’Military Governor I model’ due to cost considerations, but that model was too outdated, and even century-old stores like ’Purple Vines and Silver Leaves’ did not have it in stock, so he had no choice but to accept reality.

Having obtained the desired construct schematics, Fang Hong finally felt satisfied and then bought a few more schematics for enhanced components and related knowledge books before leaving the place.

He still had to visit a nearby blacksmith workshop with Hilveld, where he inquired about the prices of several types of additional armor and selected one, preparing to reinforce Mr. Greyrock’s platform later on.

However, the price of the additional armor was more expensive than expected; upon inquiry, he found out it was due to recent wars between guilds, which had driven up the prices of metal ores.

Upset, Fang Hong simply bought a design schematic and several practice schematics. After all, for an alchemy craftsman, forging and smelting were inseparable, and in fact, many of the basic skills in these three categories depend on each other.
