Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 496: Chapter 345: The Extremely Cold Iron Door, Lou Fei’Er Reaches the Top!

Both of their expressions were very serious.

”No, this might not necessarily be an entrance to the underground world.” Xu Xin’s Spiritual Power amplification kept his mind in a constant state of clarity. After pondering for a moment, he said, ”Perhaps it’s just the iron passage door commonly used in this world, by the Blood Pattern Race, maybe it’s just leading to some underground city.”

It’s not impossible.

Although they had only seen such iron doors at the entrance to the underground world, it didn’t mean that only entrances to the underground world would use such doors.

Ji Chaoyang nodded slowly and extended his hand towards the door handle, but stopped halfway, somewhat hesitant. ”Should we open it?”

If it really was like the entrance to the underground world, then beneath the iron door, there might be an intense red mist.

Would those red mists affect the surrounding stone statues?

”Keke, is there danger below?” Xu Xin asked Keke, who had just recovered in his arms and was no longer trembling.

”Whimper.” Keke shook its little head, indicating that it couldn’t sense anything.

No danger...?

”We’ve already dug it out, let’s open it.” Xu Xin gritted his teeth and said.

Can’t have done all this work for nothing.

Ji Chaoyang nodded, grabbed the door handle, and prepared to pull it open directly.

But the moment he pulled, his expression changed, and he quickly withdrew his hand.

”What’s wrong?” Xu Xin cautiously reached for his backpack.

If anything happened, he could immediately pull out a weapon to attack.

”...This door can’t be opened for now. Also, the temperature is too low.” Ji Chaoyang frowned, speaking with clenched fists.

As he slowly opened his somewhat trembling hand, he saw a small portion of skin on his palm had been torn off by the icy iron handle, and the wound was indeed colorless and pale, already directly frostbitten and cracked.

Such serious frostbite!

Just from grabbing it, it’s like this?!

This iron door, incredibly cold!

Keep in mind, Ji Chaoyang was wearing a snow fox scarf, temperatures of minus fifty degrees were ordinary for him.

Just touching it and freezing like this, this temperature...

Minus one or two hundred degrees?

Absolute zero is only -273.15°C...

However, even though this iron door is so cold, why isn’t the cold spreading outward?

”How about prying it open with a weapon?” Xu Xin suggested.

Ji Chaoyang stood up: ”No, it just gave me a hint, [This entrance is temporarily closed]”

”Entrance?” Xu Xin’s eye twitched, ”What entrance?”

”I’m not sure,” Ji Chaoyang shook his head, ”Just that one sentence. Or, you can try touching the door handle yourself. Although it’ll cause frostbite, you have the ability to discern and might gain more information than me.”

As he said this, he took out two blue-level hemostatic herbs from his backpack and picked up two stones to start grinding them.

This little injury wouldn’t waste the pills, but the hand wound would affect many aspects, so he needed to recover a bit.

”...Grind some for me too.” Xu Xin said to Ji Chaoyang.

Indeed, he should examine it himself.

”Why do you think I took out two hemostatic herbs?” Ji Chaoyang smiled.

”...”

Xu Xin didn’t directly reach out to grab it, instead using his finger to gently touch the door handle.

Though very cold, icy cold, it was just ordinary cold.

Not cold anymore?

He reached for the door handle and pulled hard upwards.

”Whimper!” As he pulled, Keke suddenly cried out in his arms, a warning cry sensing danger!

The rusty iron door didn’t budge, instead, a piercing cold surged from the door handle into his hand instantly!

His pupils contracted sharply, he immediately let go, swiftly withdrew his right hand, and stood up.

The palm, only the initial moment of sharp pain, then instantly lost feeling, as if anesthetized.

[This entrance is temporarily closed, activation of the Transmission Array is required to open.]

”Whimper...” Keke looked at his palm, weakly whimpered, and stretched out a little tongue to lick it.

”...After activating the Transmission Array, this entrance can be accessed.” Xu Xin’s palm had no feeling, even though Keke was licking with a warm, soft little tongue, he felt nothing.

He lowered his head to look again at this rusty iron door.

The temperature of the door itself was normal, could be touched freely, but once you tried to pull the door open, an icy cold that humans couldn’t bear surged out instantly.

”Your introduction didn’t mention what kind of entrance it is either?” Ji Chaoyang handed the ground hemostatic herb to him.

”No.”

Xu Xin applied the herb, and the injury healed at a visibly rapid pace, the feeling in his palm gradually returning.

”No choice then.” Ji Chaoyang clenched his hand, his injury also healing, ”Seems we can only continue exploration once the Transmission Array is activated.”

Xu Xin nodded.

What lies below, he’s unsure, but perhaps it’s related to these stone statues, and the long mark. Plus, Keke’s recent reaction suggests something dangerous under the iron door.

All this can only wait until the Transmission Array is activated before proceeding.

The two continued walking among the stone statues on the mountaintop, occasionally touching these exaggerated, sinister statues.

The current sunlight was very bright, shining on the mountaintop’s stone statue group, giving an unusual beauty.

Until they walked back to the center of the giant peak, returned to the portal, they found nothing.
