Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 479: Chapter 337: The Miserable Chest Monster

Bringing Mimi Silver King along, Xu Xin arrived under the treehouse and touched the wristband on his left hand, signaling Li Wenxi to step back a bit.

”What exactly is it, so mysterious?” Li Wenxi asked curiously but still stepped back a few meters, ”Is it dangerous?”

”Don’t worry, I’ll protect you!” Lou Fei’Er stood by Li Wenxi’s side, declaring righteously.

Actually, she also wanted to stay and see what Xu Xin was about to bring out.

Seeing both of them retreating, Xu Xin immediately rotated the wristband.

”Clang!”

The mimic monster was released, and the chest thudded on the ground with the sound of metal hitting the earth.

The copper metallic exterior and gigantic box startled the two women watching from behind.

”This is... a copper treasure chest? Such a large chest!” Li Wenxi exclaimed.

Indeed, it’s very big.

Several times bigger than any treasure chest they had seen before.

A massive chest one and a half meters high, just looking at it could excite anyone, making them wonder what’s inside.

”What’s dangerous about the treasure chest?” Li Wenxi was somewhat puzzled but still obediently did not come forward.

Because she saw that Silver King and Mimi had already tensed their bodies, showing a tense and confrontational stance.

Judging by their posture, they seemed about to lunge at the chest to attack!

And beside her, Lou Fei’Er’s expression gradually solidified.

She pulled Li Wenxi back two more steps, whispering, ”There’s something strange inside this chest. I can feel it; there’s danger and mutated creatures inside!”

As a mid-level mutated creature, Lou Fei’Er was very sensitive to the presence of other mutated beings.

Not only her, but even the plant heart had already detected danger and reacted.

The ground around the chest cracked open, and dozen tendrils emerged, bending in the air towards the chest.

It seemed, at the moment the chest opened, these tendrils would launch a direct attack!

In the concubine’s burrow, two little creatures were startled by the noise, poked out half their heads curiously to look over here, then were pushed back by the concubine.

Around, all creatures tensed up, confronting this quiet, motionless treasure chest.

Except for Silver King, Mimi, and Afu, who had already seen the mimic monster, everyone else, including the plant heart, believed a monster was hidden inside the chest, ready to jump out as soon as it opened!

Xu Xin took out his purple-level long halberd, lightly touching the chest’s body, producing a crisp metallic sound.

This chest is very hard now.

When first seen, its body was like flesh, soft, but later it hardened.

Is this a special self-defense mechanism?

Apparently, this guy had also sensed the surrounding threats and directly curled up.

It’s very safe now; let’s open it and take a look.

Xu Xin’s long halberd gently poked into the seam between the lid and the chest, then with a forceful swing, he pried it open directly.

At the moment it opened, everyone and beasts trembled slightly, and Mimi almost rushed up to attack.

However, seeing the interior of the chest, including Xu Xin, everyone was very surprised.

Inside the chest was not the bloodthirsty mouth full of sharp teeth Xu Xin saw last time.

No sharp teeth, nor mutated tendrils emerging from the depths of a giant mouth, but instead...

A chest full of gold, silver, jewels, and jewelry accessories!

The brilliant gold and silver light almost blinded everyone present!

”...Ah?” Even Xu Xin himself was stunned.

He had envisioned many scenarios, but never expected this kind of content.

What’s going on? Where’s the mimic monster?

Why is it... jewelry?

Is it really treasure? And an explosion of classic gold and silver jewels?

”...Didn’t you say there were mutated creatures inside?” Li Wenxi paused for a few seconds, nudged Lou Fei’Er’s waist with her elbow, and asked quietly, ”Why is it... this kind of thing? It looks pretty, but doesn’t it seem out of place?”

Li Wenxi was right. This kind of treasure looked magnificent but was essentially useless to these survivors.

These jewels, in Xu Xin’s eyes, emitted a white grade light, meaning they were merely shiny white-grade trash.

However... silver jewelry...

If there’s enough, maybe... it could be melted into silver ingots?

He still hadn’t acquired any silver ingots yet. If there was silver, perhaps some high-end, high-tech appliances could be made!

”This... I don’t know either; maybe the danger is hidden in these piles of treasures?” Lou Fei’Er was also very puzzled, but she still remained tense and even drew a dagger from her waist.

Because at the moment the chest opened, the sense of crisis in her heart didn’t decrease but intensified!

She couldn’t help but warn Xu Xin: ”Be careful! There’s definitely something inside! I can feel it!”

Xu Xin slowly nodded to show he understood.

These glamorous jewels must have issues.

Perhaps they aren’t real objects, but rather a deceptive appearance!

Li Wenxi and the others didn’t know, but Xu Xin did.

This is no ordinary treasure chest; it’s clearly a mimic monster!

This chest is indeed enormous, and if you want to take something deep inside, you have to reach in completely.
