Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 491: Chapter 342 A New Day: The Mysterious Shadow Reappears_2

Xu Xin glanced at the leaderboard.

Still the same five names on the list.

It seems no one is willing to climb a snow mountain on a dark and cold night, that would be sheer madness.

Like yesterday, Xu Xin didn’t choose the historical boost.

He got up, dressed, and opened the door.

”Ah! You’re awake?” Li Wenxi came out from the kitchen, holding Keke in her arms, ”Go wash up quickly, Fei’Er is almost done with breakfast.”

”Ying!” Keke also called out, wagging its big tail.

Ah, life is quite pleasant for him now!

If there were no dangers, continuing life like this wouldn’t be bad at all...

After freshening up, he came out to find a simple yet delicious breakfast already placed on the table. The two women were sitting there waiting for him.

Xu Xin first picked up some meat for Silver King, Mimi, Afu, and Axue.

Their appetites had increased noticeably, but luckily, after the beast tide, there was plenty of mutated creature meat, so he could afford to feed them.

”Ying!” Keke, sitting by the dining table held by Li Wenxi, urged Dr. Li to eat quickly.

Lou Fei’Er even prepared a small plate just for it.

”Coming, coming.” Xu Xin sat at the table and started breakfast. He asked Lou Fei’Er, ”At ten o’clock today, it’s your turn to climb the snow mountain. Are you ready?”

”Yes.” Lou Fei’Er nodded, ”Don’t worry, the crises you mentioned are nothing to me.”

”Hmm... be careful though.” Li Wenxi said after swallowing a juicy steak, ”If you encounter flocks like the ones Xu Xin and Wen Guixin encountered, dealing with them on a cliff could be tough, right?”

”There’s no need to worry about that.” Lou Fei’Er showed a very confident expression, even a bit smug, ”Actually, I discovered yesterday when I’m out alone, without any other survivors, the creatures I encounter, whether mutated or ordinary, won’t attack me.”

”Oh?” Xu Xi raised an eyebrow, ”Are you sure it’s not because they’re too lazy to move in the winter?”

”Of course it’s because of me.” Lou Fei’Er pointed at Axue who was eating, ”Axue can testify. Yesterday, when passing through the northeast of the treehouse, we encountered a pack of snow wolves! But they didn’t attack us at all, instead, they howled and conversed with Axue, although I couldn’t understand it.”

”...Isn’t that because Axue is the Snow Wolf King, what does that have to do with you?” Xu Xin debunked her claim.

”...They simply don’t attack me!” Lou Fei’Er said with some frustration, taking a big bite of her steak, ”Hmm, delicious... The first time I brought someone back, we ran into them again. Fortunately, Axue was faster and got us back. On subsequent trips, I would take a straight path out and circle back, and there were no problems.”

Indeed, it seems there’s no issue.

”That’s great, not being attacked by mutated creatures means the level of danger in this world drops significantly.” Li Wenxi felt envious, but neither Xu Xin nor Lou Fei’Er would let her take that pill, which made her regret her lack of such an ability.

Keke had finished eating and was lying by the edge of the table, listening to the conversation, its little ears twitching.

”Not bad, but still, ensure you bring the stealth cloak, the power belt, and the snow fox scarf, just in case.” Xu Xin checked her outfit. It was only casual clothes exchanged from the points mall.

”Don’t worry, I value my life, my master...” Lou Fei’Er tried to be cheeky, but being mindful of Li Wenxi’s presence, she stopped herself, ”I guarantee the task will be completed! Oh, right.”

She pointed towards the northeastern area of the treehouse: ”Over there, where I encountered the wolf pack, there’s also a strange phenomenon, do you know about it? When Axue passed by there, the blood patterns on its body would glow, and its fatigue would vanish, which is why it could make so many trips yesterday.”

Xu Xin and Li Wenxi exchanged glances.

That northeast direction was towards Li Yajun’s treehouse.

They were very familiar with that area.

In that area, does it still have the effect of enhancing mutant creatures’ physical capabilities, even in such icy and snowy conditions?

... Once this heavy snow passes, he should go have a look. With a full set of purple-grade gear, it should be enough.

”We are very familiar with that place.” Xu Xin nodded, ”Focus on the climb. You know our situation; we will go ahead to wait for you. If you go up early and we’re not there yet, don’t touch the statues and come down to find me immediately, got it?”

”Got it, climb to the peak and if you’re there, I’ll listen to you. If not, I’ll come down to find you.” Lou Fei’Er repeated Xu Xin’s words, swallowed her last mouthful of breakfast, then suddenly leaned back in her chair, shouting, ”I don’t want to wash the dishes!”

”Ying?” Keke was startled, stood up, tilting its little head at her, not understanding why her mood changed so suddenly.

Xu Xin and Li Wenxi couldn’t help but laugh, getting up to clean up the dishes.

After tidying up, Li Wenxi returned to her treehouse.

She had stayed away all night, so not going back today wouldn’t be right.

Even though Li Yajun told the two newcomers that Li Wenxi went to discuss conquering the snow mountain and exploring world mysteries with Xu Xin, making them feel quite respectful, she still had to show her face back there.

Lou Fei’Er also returned to her treehouse to prepare.

It wasn’t even eight yet, and there were more than two hours until the confirmed time for Lou Fei’Er and Wang Lei.

”Ying!” Keke ran to the window at some point, looking out, then suddenly started calling, ”Ying Ying!”

Xu Xin frowned slightly. Is this... a warning of danger?!

He immediately ran over to look outside while checking the map for enemy units.

”Huh?” His pupils slightly contracted.

He seemed to catch sight of a furry figure darting behind a tree a few hundred meters from the treehouse.

He stared at that spot for several minutes, but fortunately, nothing unusual happened and no red dots appeared on the map.

That furry figure also disappeared.

Xu Xin squinted his eyes slightly.

He needed to inform the others that the furry figures had appeared again.

Hopefully, they won’t cause trouble today.
