Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 458: Chapter 325 Familiar Decayed Wooden Door Strange Egg_2

...That’s right, isn’t this mountain peak the one that appeared suddenly?

In one night, it rose from the ground and appeared suddenly.

Wait...rose from the ground?

Xu Xin seemed to understand something.

Could it be...that this place is originally an underground city?

It’s just that, because the entire stone pillar mountain rose from the underground, it brought part of this underground city out?

...Yes, that must be it.

This also explains why the environment here suddenly changed.

He never expected to be exploring an underground city on top of Xue Feng, over three hundred meters high.

Standing still in place for a long time, Xu Xin felt as if he were about to be frozen stiff by the low temperature here.

He buried his head in the snow fox scarf, took a breath, and then reached out to push the frozen door in front of him.

At this moment, the door was sealed tightly by the ice and couldn’t be easily opened.

With no other choice, Xu Xin could only apply more force.

”Crack!” The door wasn’t pushed open; it was pushed down.

This decayed wooden door couldn’t withstand the current low temperature and freezing, so he not only pushed away the ice but also broke the door’s hinges, causing the entire door to fall backward.

”Bang!”

Although the door was decayed, it was frozen solid, and when it hit the ground, it made the sound of ice blocks crashing onto the ground and remained intact, still very complete.

And Xu Xin also looked into the room.

The room was not large, almost the same size as the rooms in the underground city. After all, this was indeed a room in the underground city.

”This is...” His eyes lit up, and he immediately stepped onto the door that had fallen to the ground and entered the room.

In the center of the room, there was a device that looked somewhat strange.

The lower part of this device was made of iron, covered in red rust, while the upper part was made of glass, forming a square shape. At a glance, it looked like a bizarre fish tank.

However, under the dramatic change in temperature, the entire device was like it was frozen, with frost and cracks covering the glass, like a shattered, cracked but still intact piece of tempered glass, completely obscuring the inside.

Xu Xin could hear rustling sounds from inside, and...a faint breathing sound?

Hm?!

Is there something alive in there?!

The entire device wasn’t large, about the size of a fish tank, and whatever was inside shouldn’t be bigger than a small cat, right?

”Crack...” A sound came from inside again.

This time, the sound was very clear, and he heard it especially well.

He finally knew what that sound was!

It was the sound of an eggshell breaking!

Inside, there was something hatching!

”This...” Xu Xin was shocked.

In such cold temperatures, there’s actually a creature that can hatch?

It must not be an ordinary creature!

Xu Xin didn’t ponder further, located a spot on the broken glass tank less exposed to the source of the sound, and thrust his sword to create a hole, then grabbed the glass and yanked it down with force!

”Crash!”

Glass shards scattered across the ground, revealing the obscured interior to his eyes.

Sure enough, it was an egg!

An egg larger than an ostrich egg!

A white egg already full of cracks!

This egg was too large; in modern Earth, such a large egg would not appear.

Xu Xin’s first reaction was a dinosaur egg, but he immediately dismissed the thought. This world’s species are basically the same as those on Earth, it shouldn’t have species extinct for tens of millions of years.

However, Xu Xin couldn’t help but wonder, what exactly kind of creature’s egg is this?

Could it be...a giant beast’s egg?

It’s possible, if giant crocodiles from the creek could lay eggs, perhaps they’d be even bigger than this.

He glanced around the room, which was empty except for this strange device.

Is this room just a simple hatching place for it?

The movements inside the egg were growing fainter, and the breathing was also becoming weaker.

Not good, the temperature is too low, the creature inside the egg is going to die!

Just as Xu Xin was about to retrieve an energy core from his backpack, he suddenly stopped.

The creature inside this egg, could it be a blood-marked creature?

If it’s a blood-marked creature, taking out an energy core might kill it, right?

However, according to his previous judgment, from Concubine Ai and the two little ones, it seems that blood-marked mutation is likely a non-hereditary mutation, an acquired mutation, and a kind that can upgrade gradually, should not be passed onto offspring.

Thus, the possibility of the little guy in this egg being a blood-marked mutated creature is very low.

Thinking this, Xu Xin took out a fragment of the energy core.

Instantly, the surrounding area was illuminated by a bright, gentle white light, and the temperature rose rapidly, within ten seconds, from minus sixty or seventy degrees to about twenty degrees above zero.

”Phew...” Xu Xin let out a long breath of relief, comfortable!

So comfortable!

The little creature in the egg in front of him felt equally comfortable.

There was no more rustling in the egg, but the breathing had restored and was stable again.

While feeling the pleasant temperature, Xu Xin also pondered.

How did this egg survive until he arrived, and why did it suddenly crack?

He recalled that in the small pit below, he had also taken out an energy core fragment.

The influence range of this energy core fragment, Xu Xin had long tested, could maintain a temperature of around twenty degrees within a fifty-meter radius, affecting even a hundred meters around.

And this cave was only five or six meters from the cave where he crouched to rest, naturally within its influence.

This egg, originally frozen stiff, began to stir when it sensed the temperature change, attracting Xu Xin’s attention.

That must be it.

The little creature inside the egg was breathing steadily, but no longer moving, likely having exhausted all its energy, falling into a slumber.

The creature inside the egg...

Must be either a reptile or a winged one.

If it’s a winged giant beast...

He must take it with him!

But, how to take it?

His backpack couldn’t carry live things; he couldn’t just hold it in his arms, could he?

Could he use the bracelet?

Xu Xin attempted to touch this peculiar egg with the bracelet.

The egg, already covered in cracks, immediately went inside the bracelet.

Indeed, it worked!

The bracelet’s description said it could store mutated creatures, but it didn’t specify that it could only store blood-marked mutated creatures.

This strange egg, larger than an ostrich egg, could very well be a giant beast’s egg having giant beast bloodlines, and being a mutated creature, so it could be stored in the bracelet as well.

Just like that, in an exceedingly peculiar manner, Xu Xin obtained a unique egg that was supposed to hatch in the underground city during his climb on the giant peak.

After storing the egg, Xu Xin again enjoyed the warm temperature for a few seconds, then put away the energy core fragment and retraced his steps.

Soon, Xu Xin reached the cave entrance.

The temperature at the entrance stayed above minus fifty degrees, bringing his body temperature back to normal.

Inside the cave, it was really too cold.

Time to continue.

Just as he grabbed the rock wall at the entrance, feeling the cold seeping into his hand, preparing to climb again, he suddenly heard the sound of something cutting through the wind behind him, and a sudden sense of crisis surged from within!

There’s danger behind him!

Without a second thought, he dove into the cave.

”Crack!” The sound of something scraping against the rock and shattering it directly.

Something is attacking him?!
