Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 474: Chapter 334: The Nighttime Anomaly - Ji Chaoyang Reaches the Summit_2

Xu Xin stood in the center, as if he were receiving the worship of all the stone statues!

Xu Xin looked up at the giant winged dragon statue that was only ten meters away from him.

The movements of these two winged dragon statues had also changed.

They too turned around, retracting their wings spanning ten meters, their claw-like feet gripping the ground, their massive heads lowered, and their stone eyes were staring directly at Xu Xin, or rather, at the position where Xu Xin was now standing.

Xu Xin met their gaze and discovered that there was a faint blood-red stream flowing in the eyes of the winged dragon statue.

He was frozen for a few seconds before slowly relaxing.

At least, these statues did not attack him and did not make a single move.

For the time being, it was still safe.

However, he could now be certain that these statues were absolutely alive!

It’s likely similar to the Chang Yin Family, even though their entire bodies are stone, they can still move flexibly.

Flexible to the point that their running speed is not slower than his.

Why? Why would such a change occur?

Could it be because it’s nighttime now, and it’s already dark?

The stone statues at night are different from their postures during the day?

Then when did they actually move, when did they come to life, and collectively worship toward this side?

Was it at dusk...

Do these statues come alive at dusk?

These thoughts flashed through Xu Xin’s mind in an instant.

Xu Xin let out a breath, withdrew from his gaze with the winged dragon statue, and began walking towards the outer perimeter.

He wanted to touch a statue, see what the statue’s introduction is, and try to see if anything would happen.

However, forget about these inner ones; if he accidentally awakens these two winged dragons, he’d be dumbfounded.

He walked through the group of statues and reached the outermost area, where he found the smallest stone statue of a little rabbit among all the ordinary beast statues.

Well, even if this one comes to life, it wouldn’t be much of a problem.

Xu Xin reached out and touched it.

[White Rabbit Statue (Gray): A mysterious statue seems to harbor a strange life force.]

A gray-quality statue, harboring a strange life force...

As expected.

He was not unfamiliar with this vague and mysterious introduction.

The last time he saw such an introduction was on the sculptures of the Chang Yin Family, which was exactly the same, not a single word different.

However, the difference was that the Chang Yin Family’s sculpture had quality.

When they hadn’t awakened, they were green-grade quality statues, and after awakening, they turned into blue-grade quality.

At that time, he could see the green or blue-grade glow emanating from the statues’ bodies.

But this group of statues...

Xu Xin turned to look.

All the statues didn’t have any glow emanating.

This means, these statues, like this white rabbit statue, are all gray-grade.

What does this signify?

Xu Xin was unsure.

But he knew that gray-grade wasn’t a lower grade under white-grade but a grade he couldn’t identify.

Just like polluted meat is also gray-grade, yet Xu Xin doesn’t believe the quality of polluted meat is lower than white-grade stones found anywhere.

Perhaps, things related to mutated life forms that survivors couldn’t utilize would all appear gray in quality.

Anyway, these statues are quite eerie, who knows when they’ll come alive.

They might not come alive when the grand array is fully activated...

Better go down first, staying up here serves no purpose.

Just as he turned to head back, he heard faint sounds of breathing and climbing.

Hmm?

The sounds came from below the cliff-edge, no more than a dozen meters away from him, very close to the spot where he had climbed up.

... Ji Chaoyang?

He immediately went there, leaned over, and looked down.

Sure enough, around twenty to thirty meters from the peak, Ji Chaoyang was steadily climbing upward step by step.

His breathing wasn’t hurried, just slightly strained from fatigue.

He seemed to have heard the sound from above too, looked up, and his gaze met Xu Xin’s.

Across the dozens of meters, both saw the surprise in each other’s eyes.

On the snow mountain, aren’t individuals supposed to be completely separated, unable to affect each other?

Xu Xin had thought they wouldn’t be able to meet until both climbed up.

Could it be that above the cloud layer, during this very safe stage, they could meet and help each other?

Upon seeing Xu Xin, Ji Chaoyang accelerated his climbing; soon, he reached the peak and rolled over onto it.

Xu Xin extended a hand to give him some support to steady himself.

”You once again beat me to the top...” Ji Chaoyang exhaled deeply, about to make a remark, but then saw the group of statues behind and fell silent.

He too was shocked by the ubiquitous statue group on the mountainside.

”How’s that, quite overwhelming, right? When I arrived, it was even more overwhelming than now,” Xu Xin said, glancing at the statue group.

When he arrived, all the statues turned outward, even in attack postures. Now all the statues are prostrating inward, looking like they’re obediently worshiping something, naturally not as overwhelming as when he climbed up.

”...These statues have changed?” Ji Chaoyang caught the implication in Xu Xin’s words, turned to him, ”How long have you been up here?”
