Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 455: Chapter 324: The Cold Cave Hanging High on the Cliff Face

”What do you think, which amplification should we choose?” Xu Xin looked at his history of amplifications, pondering as he asked Ji Chaoyang.

”Hearing amplification, I feel, is the most suitable.” Ji Chaoyang was also in deep thought, ”This mountain is too mysterious, during the climb, the hearing amplification would at least allow us to detect any anomalies around us quickly.”

Xu Xin’s thoughts were similar to his.

”Have you ever had a jump amplification?”

”What is that, never had it.” Ji Chaoyang shook his head.

His jump amplification is actually a very good choice, if he were to fall from a height, he could easily stabilize himself like a cat, facing the crisis with ease.

Hesitating for a few seconds, he ultimately chose the hearing amplification.

Without Keke accompanying him, his own perception became particularly important, and during climbing, his sight would mostly be focused on the rock wall, at which time, only his hearing could detect the surrounding situation.

Even if he were to fall, he had his hook, so it wouldn’t be a big issue.

The moment he chose the hearing amplification, the surrounding sounds became incredibly clear.

Xu Xin then consumed all fruits that could bring him enhancement buffs, like red berries, apples, oranges, strawberries, etc., filling his state to the maximum, before exchanging a glance with Ji Chaoyang, and they both exerted their arm strength to climb over fifty meters.

He had been watching Ji Chaoyang all this while, but after climbing over fifty meters, his vision suddenly blurred, and his eyes stung, forcing him to blink.

Just in the blink of an eye, Ji Chaoyang disappeared, leaving only him around.

Under the hearing amplification, Xu Xin could originally hear some rustling sounds in the jungle, as well as Ji Chaoyang’s breathing and heartbeat, but after climbing over fifty meters, these sounds completely vanished.

He seemed to have truly entered a world where he was the only one.

Even the sky shrouded by mist seemed to have dimmed a little.

Fortunately, it was very quiet around, so quiet he didn’t even hear the wind, allowing Xu Xin to slightly relax.

Steadying his mind, he began to climb upwards.

Arm strength amplification really is a great helper for climbing, just like jump amplification is made for leaping, this arm strength amplification seems born for climbing.

With each exertion of his arms, his entire body would be lifted upwards by two or three meters.

The rock wall of the giant stone pillar peak was rugged and uneven, allowing him to find very suitable gripping spots with every step, despite possibly having some snow on top, and the rocks on the wall were slightly slippery, but with his caution and powerful strength, he steadily climbed upwards.

It was very quiet around, really very quiet, apart from the sounds of his climbing, there wasn’t even a hint of wind.

After climbing for several minutes, Xu Xin found a stable foothold, grasping the rock wall with both hands, pausing to catch his breath while looking down.

The ground was very far from him now, estimated to be about two hundred meters away.

He looked up again, the top of the giant stone pillar peak was still wrapped in cloud and mist, unreachable.

There was a slight difference from his position below.

The temperature, had already dropped.

It’s morning now, the sun just rising, its light still obscured by the mist, so the temperature hadn’t risen much.

Just at the foot of the mountain, it was about minus 20 degrees.

This temperature is not low, the snow protection gear sold in the points store could tolerate a minimum of minus 15 degrees. Hence, at this temperature, most survivors cannot go out exploring.

But Xu Xin felt, the temperature was even lower now, and during his climb, this temperature dropped a bit too quickly.

On Earth, for every hundred meters ascended, the temperature would drop approximately 0.6 degrees Celsius, meaning, from around the fifty-meter mark, climbing to his current position, a drop of about 1 degree should be expected.

But he felt now, at the two hundred meters height, the temperature had absolutely dropped more than one or two degrees compared to before.

Though wrapped in the snow fox scarf, feeling the piercing cold was avoided, he still sensed the difference in temperature.

This temperature felt like it was about minus 25 degrees now, didn’t it?

How could it drop so quickly?

Xu Xin hung onto the rock wall with one hand, using the other to tighten the snow fox scarf.

This item cannot become loose; if it did and dropped, he would really freeze to death.

He should have made a few more to store in his backpack.

Using one hand, he tied the scarf tightly around his neck, preventing it from truly falling off, and continued climbing upwards again.

Climbing to roughly three hundred meters, Xu Xin found a small cave on the rock wall.

Said to be a cave, it was actually just a larger pit, allowing him to sit and take a break in it.

Having climbed three hundred meters, he already felt a bit of fatigue in his arm muscles, needing a short rest from the constant exertion of his arms, or else, in such cold altitude, he consistently feared the risk of cramps.

Sitting in the cave, Xu Xin rubbed his arms.

Still, it was very quiet around, no wind whatsoever.

The mist in the air seemed to have solidified, stagnant around the giant stone pillar peak, without the slightest movement. If it weren’t for the watch on his wrist still capable of telling time by the dial, he would even slightly doubt whether time stopped in this eerie space.
