Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1686: Chapter 263: Out of Place Among the Undead Tribe

Lucimar soon gave up probing into the chaotic relations of the Undead Tribe.

He felt that such matters were for deities to consider, while someone like him, working for a living, just needed to focus on his tasks, seeking credit at the right moments, to live a perfect life.

So, he quickly brought the conversation back on track: “So… what are we supposed to observe about her? There must be something special, right?”

‘Mobi Chenxin’ suddenly turned to look at him: “You’ve been in the same room and carriage with Miss Ruth for so long, have you seen any particularly unique weapon on her… something she didn’t have before, of course.”

“Hmm?” Lucimar tilted his head back for a moment, “She occasionally weaves a black rose with very fine spider silk, but I think she’s just passing time and doesn’t pay much attention to it.

She has a black crystal pendant on her waist, and inside… well, looking at it can make one dizzy, like losing one’s soul, so I didn’t look much, but I can feel that there seems to be a web inside the crystal.

Other than that, nothing special.”

Lucimar couldn’t help but give a bitter smile: “Do you think that lady would be cautious with me?

Whenever she encounters the Undead Tribe, she never stays within a meter of you nor spends long times alone with any of you.

I noticed long ago that if neither I nor any Danboro person is present, she will almost certainly leave the area inhabited by the Undead Tribe within five minutes.

Even if there’s only one undead, she remains so cautious.

Yet… as you said, when facing me, she still takes the leisure to weave a rose.”

‘Mobi Chenxin’ scratched his head: “Then, it seems the weapon Old Dog is looking for isn’t in Rose’s possession.

The web, if not a Spider Magic Net, might be that half piece of the Pseudo Magic Net she stole from Gerns.

The rose is newly woven… tsk, I’ll ask him again.”

Lucimar curiously asked, “What kind of weapon are you looking for? An Aesces one?”

“The one that stabbed Lind’s mother back then.” ‘Mobi Chenxin’ said nonchalantly.

“Hmm?” Lucimar blinked, “Weren’t those all burned?”

‘Mobi Chenxin’ suddenly lifted his head: “You know?

Wait!

All destroyed? None left?”

“Uh…” Lucimar awkwardly said, “Although I wasn’t the Main Handler at that time, the Ismael Household generally doesn’t help military nobles, nor do they take excessive measures to trouble them.

But I do know a little about this matter.

You understand, at that time, the Stelter Family wanted to leap directly from a military noble status into the Great Nobility class… without planning to leave the military first and then join the Mage Nobility faction like other families.

If it were so easy, how could the Danboro Royal Family be balanced by those traditional Mage Families for so many years?

Of course, they acted very discreetly, intending to start with their daughter… But in Danboro, inviting mages to teach a daughter at home and sending a son to a traditional Mage Tower are two different concepts.

Ah… otherwise, with such a hostile relationship between Danboro and Scaret, where would so many… well-armed, fairly high-level pirates come from?”

‘Mobi Chenxin’ could easily understand, after all, although he hadn’t been directly involved in such matters, they were often the spice to his afternoon tea, updated daily: “Pirates were real, and they indeed planned to attack the Stelter Family, but with their capabilities, they couldn’t harm the Basia Guards under a High-level Swordsman’s leadership?

Only, at that moment, did angels appear, needing no reward?”

“Yes.” Lucimar nodded affirmatively, “Ultimately, although Countess Stelter sustained serious injuries, no one expected both the stewards of the Stelter Family to be High-level, and… one of them was a Shadow Guard.

This was supposed to be a drama where pirates, after burning down the castle, would sail away with treasures, leaving the Stelter Family severely damaged, but it ended in mutual destruction.

Um… The ones who planned to deal with these pirates at sea finally had to risk landing to handle this small mess.

After all, those who deal with such things regularly understand that if those pirates were caught alive by the Stelter Family, they would be doomed.

So, some who were initially planned to be dealt with later… such as those who received the weapons or heard the voices of certain people… uh, were coincidentally caught by the Female Guard who went wild and pursued enemies everywhere due to her master’s severe injury as they fled.

It makes one quite embarrassed… trying to give a little lesson, yet…”

“A little lesson?” A rustling, hoarse female voice came softly, with a hint of metallic chill amidst the charm.

Wearing a black leather coat, with a long black leather boot and a short black skirt revealing a glimpse of snowy ‘Xi Manman’ swaying gracefully emerged from the stairs, “Lind took years to recover to the point of leaving home, Helena confined to bed for years, and in your hearts, that’s just a little lesson?”

Lucimar glanced at her in surprise, and said very seriously: “In the view of nobles, as long as Count Stelter and his eldest son were not in life-threatening danger, it’s not an irreparable hatred.”

Although this isn’t right, these are the traditions formed over millennia among the Danboro Nobility.”

‘Xi Manman’ smiled, “Ah… so what the hell is nobility?”

“Midnight.” ‘Mobi Chenxin’ frowned and stopped her, “What got into you? Lucimar didn’t offend you.”

“Heh~ sorry, I shouldn’t have spoken out of turn. Tsk, after all, isn’t being a bystander a sin?” ‘Xi Manman’ sneered, swinging out a long Rose pipe from behind her back… The pipe bowl was a dark red Rose, the stem was entwined with rose branches, and the smoke trickling from the mouthpiece was rose-colored… bringing it to her lips.

Looking at the smoke trailing from those red lips, Lucimar felt he couldn’t muster any anger: “It’s okay, just that… nobility has its own ecology.

Great Sage Ismael wasn’t free from struggles before either.

But even favored by the World Master, he could only ensure a secure place for himself and his family amid the whirlpool, where nothing could affect them.

Us, not being required to participate, is the last bit of light he won for us.”

“It’s a pity, not everyone in your family thinks like you.” ‘Xi Manman’ took a slow drag and leisurely blew a few smoke rings, “Some friends who were out playing just rescued a girl from a small noble family.

A very pretty and cute little girl, only 12, was… heh~”

‘Mobi Chenxin’ frowned and asked, “Is she dead?”

“Hung upside down on a tree, killed slowly with a small knife.” ‘Xi Manman’ said nonchalantly.

“Lucimar is not part of the Ismael Family anymore.” ‘Mobi Chenxin’ withdrew his murderous intent-filled expression, “Don’t drag him into this.

He wasn’t with them before, and he won’t walk the same path in the future.”

Then he glanced at Lucimar, whose face had turned from red to ashen, “So, Lucimar, do you think, the one who struggled at sea for so long… wait, Lucimar, do you know your dear old dad is planning to give you a new sibling?

The Undead Tribe, it seems… Oh, Old Dog only notified us a few days ago about why battles at sea are intensifying, why Great Sage Scaret acted against us of the Undead Tribe.

We used to think it was because of Ambori, but it turned out to be because of that Great Sage’s battlefield cannon… damn it.

Even stallion novels aren’t this weird!

Hmm, I guess everyone hasn’t discussed it much, seems like you didn’t know.

Funny, I thought Aesces would’ve told you, tsk, that stone head, probably thinks since you’re no longer associated with Ismael, it’s not important to you anymore?”

Lucimar looked at him confusedly, suddenly feeling like he was dreaming, with hallucinations in his ears.

“So, before I tell you that long, melodramatic story, tell me how the mess in Basia finally ended.

I see the relationship between the Stelter Family and Mage Nobility isn’t great, but not to the extent of life-and-death enemies.

I don’t believe they wouldn’t act if they had evidence.

Tsk~ with evidence in hand and the light of justice behind them, only a fool wouldn’t seize the chance for revenge… at least tear a few chunks out of their enemy!

No need to consider this.

Heh~ if they play dead even with evidence, the Stelter Family would have been torn apart by the pack of hyenas long ago.

Still think they could control a city single-handedly like now?”

Though constrained in many ways, the Stelter Family still holds the city defense and tax control of Basia firmly!

Lucimar shook his head, reluctantly pulling his scattered thoughts back together: “Yes, but those pieces of evidence are easily resolved.

After all, every family has branches… like Lind’s descendants who can’t rely on themselves and must depend on the main branch naturally have to do things others are unwilling to.

So, in the end, Countess Stelter just exchanged it for some benefits.

Otherwise, how could her teacher possibly be a Mid-level Magician?

How could Ellie’s auction house have been established?

An auction house and store not belonging to mages can’t possibly sell Alchemy Items.

And since Ellie became a Magic Apprentice, her auction house has been selling Master Level Alchemical Oddities.”

“This is… Countess Stelter’s intention?” ‘Xi Manman’ couldn’t help but ask.

“Of course, it was definitely her!” Lucimar said, somewhat confused, “A husband and wife are one, when Count Stelter is out campaigning, she is the Family’s full Controller.

She is a High-level Swordsman, who can suppress her will?

Even if she’s bedridden, it won’t work.”
