Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1680: Chapter 257: Some Rejoice, Others Despair

Lucimar and ’Mobi Chenxin’ had made many plans with ’Snow Cloud Peak’ before coming here, and this situation was naturally among them.

They had agreed at that time to wait until the Undead Tribe first returned with glory from the Moon Clan of the Desert Kingdom before granting permission for these people to resell their goods.

At this time, the Undead Tribe’s general store is limited in sales and records every buyer’s name, ensuring they can only get twice what they need for daily use... In other words, considering some always try to hoard, they slightly loosen the restrictions.

But anymore than that is impossible.

Of course, if some people concentrate all their excess into one person’s hands, the Undead Tribe couldn’t care less, since it’s not forced, and the Undead Tribe isn’t interested in managing the Danboro people’s internal affairs.

Lucimar is also in a state of observation for the time being: This kind of thing allows him to identify whether some seemingly capable people can be entrusted with important tasks, and how many among his future subjects can be trusted.

Small-scale resales go unnoticed, but large commercial caravans must have certain control, which Lucimar agrees with.

But the timing of the Undead Tribe choosing to open up trading permits is quite subtle.

Anyhow, only those who pass multiple tests after the Undead Tribe’s return and finally obtain a large trading permit can buy goods in large quantities, and if they perform exceptionally well, they might even get a discount.

Lucimar understands very well that this so-called ’excellence’ could unknowingly put an invisible ring through these clever and capable people’s noses, making them act according to the Undead Tribe’s wishes.

Frankly, if it weren’t for him being on the side of the Undead Tribe, Lucimar thinks he’d be terrified to see through these schemes.

The World of Aesces isn’t devoid of intrigue, the means nobles employ always have a sinister edge, but this interconnectedness is truly rare.

Someone like Lind could be called a conspiracist... It’s just that his luck was not great, inadvertently exposing himself during a world-class incident.

Otherwise, someone as naive as Ellie, no matter how lucky she is, couldn’t withstand this kind of backhand trick, likely being brought to bankruptcy without understanding why.

After all, the attribute of their World Master is such that, hmm, everything they do carries a bit of simple brutality, right?

Fortunately, the Undead Tribe is on their side, and the respected World Master is somewhat receptive to advice.

Lucimar can only be grateful that, although Aesces acts straightforwardly, at least in finding allies, they’re somewhat smart.

Then Lucimar was shown a tablet by a Undead Tribe assigned communicator: Their World Master is beyond the point of understanding human speech... Does this mean reverting to re-create a world?

Even though the warning message from ’Snow Cloud Peak’ seems a bit biting, Lucimar can sense from those ’ifs’, ’thens’, and ’therefores’ that if Aesces plugs these world loopholes one by one as suggested, the future of this world is likely to change dramatically.

At least, another Son of Fortune like Great Sage Ismael won’t... well, won’t be able to remain as inseparable as they are now with the World Master.

Lucimar confirmed from the subtleties in the text that Mr. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ seems to very much dislike the presence of someone like Ismael who can, with individual power, influence the world’s development direction.

Despite their Mr. Hill also being a similar Son of Fortune, why is someone like Ismael unacceptable?

Lucimar is a bit puzzled... Although Ismael has many faults that are hard to endure, his contributions to the world are undeniable, right?

Gently suppressing his doubts in his heart, Lucimar temporarily abandoned his thoughts and first accompanied the World Master to consider: If those scenarios were to happen, how to resolve them.

He is very clear that Mr. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ is perhaps just giving him a subtle nudge, letting him know which direction Aesces will aim for, preventing him from acting contrary to his Main God.

If Lucimar himself can’t figure it out or ignores something, the other party won’t be as instructive as they are to the World Master.

Although the other party has placed Lucimar in a position to assist the World Master, which seems quite good... Lucimar knows deep down that he is merely placed at the forefront of people who the Undead Tribe commander considers usable, and even the World Master has only taken a temporary glance, not indicating his position is entirely secure.

Aesces’ heart is still with Great Sage Ismael.

Although there can be more than one Chosen, true God’s favor cannot simultaneously exist on two different types of people.

As his future is already tied to Aesces, and his soul now has a home, Lucimar gradually rises in ambition... especially since his success will inevitably return the Great Sage Ismael to a normal Chosen’s position.

Ah~ One victory, two joys, how could Lucimar not make an effort!

He then stopped at the end of the underground plaza leading to the Undead Tribe’s side.

Sometimes, he doesn’t know whether he doesn’t want to see his allies acting crazily or doesn’t want the other party to see his seeing.

After all, someone like him, facing tens of thousands of people’s frenzied dancing, even some ladies only wearing, uh, in their words, a close-fitting ’bust-to-thigh dress’, desperately swinging some piece of fabric causing their whole body to tremble.

Lucimar absolutely refuses to admit that was dancing.

He profoundly understood why, apart from the command hall and barracks, all large open spaces in Cain Valley are surrounded by the Undead Tribe’s buildings... Furthermore, he understood why, even though there are many shops in this underground plaza, the Undead Tribe commander emphasized building shops targeting Oasis residents inside his oval plaza.

Initially, he didn’t think it necessary... Just letting those residents walk a bit extra, without exposure to elements, what’s the big deal?

But now Lucimar really wants to tell his past self: You were frighteningly naive.

Is the Undead Tribe doing it to provide Red Willow Oasis residents a satisfactory shopping environment? No, they are worried Lucimar couldn’t even keep a dog.

As for face, they don’t seem to care much.

Though it’s divided into two parts, the Undead Tribe hasn’t strictly forbidden locals from coming over... Although it was stated earlier this side isn’t very safe.

The Undead Tribe is about to start a dual-sided teleportation targeting the Desert Kingdom.

The attributes of Moon Clan on the other side, Danboro people know well... Moon Clan absolutely wouldn’t mind slashing an ordinary passerby as they emerge.

But Lucimar believes curious people will come.

Especially those who are very confident and think they can definitely escape.

Lucimar has no desire to ask whether their curiosity has been satisfied.

Anyway, not long ago, he felt that passage had Danboro people passing through... The Undead Tribe might have a strange smell, but that’s also a matter of unique taste in choosing scents normal people wouldn’t, it’s not possible to have a sweat smell.

Especially the desert residents not used to bathing, no matter how careful, that ingrained musky odor is hard to suppress.

Lucimar shook his head, smiled faintly: Ever since the Undead Tribe started total mobilization and confirmed the expedition date, no outsider has entered that passage.

He leaned lightly on the wall... wondering if the wave of Undead Tribe who returned early for unknown reasons has released all their chaotic emotions over eager to return to their city.

Lucimar truly disdains entering that bacchanal... Especially certain gender-mysterious Undead Tribe who enjoy teasing him greatly.

Leaning against the pathway’s cold wall, Lucimar fell into confusion again: Aesces, esteemed World Master, only needs to learn from others’ strengths!

What on earth did the Undead Tribe grow up eating, why can their personalities split so drastically?

What will Lind from Cain Valley become?

Lind Kane of course doesn’t know someone far away is pondering his growth, he is currently very happy showing his elder brother around his city and farmland.

It’s a shame his elder brother indeed seemed cheerful, always laughing aloud for his inevitably bright future, yet can’t hide the subtle melancholy attempting concealment.

”So, Brother Ditte, although I might not necessarily help you with anything, at least allow me to know, if your melancholy involves something harmful to you?” Lind pulls his brother’s hand directly towards his castle, ”But the Undead Tribe clearly mentioned Triton and Scaret won’t cause any more trouble than now.

Drought?

With Cain Valley’s supplies, you shouldn’t be troubled by it, right?

Then... couldn’t be our parents missing their lovely pitiful daughter again, right?”

Ditte paused, then shook his head saying, ”These issues, have nothing to do with you, don’t get involved.

Ellie seems to still be alive, just her soul is suppressed, she turned to mother for help.”

”When?” Lind suddenly realized, ”Was it when white fog appeared at Ismael Manor in the capital?”

”Seems so.” Ditte barely nodded, ”They hope I could ask high command here with the Undead Tribe if there’s a way to save her.

At the very least, allow Ellie’s soul to return to Styx.”

”Wishful thinking, don’t go.” Lind promptly replied.
