Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1681: Chapter 258: What to Do When Your Dog Nose Isn’t Enough?

Ditte was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t actually thought of asking about the Undead Tribe on behalf of a relative invited by Lind in Lind’s place.

But he did consider whether it might be possible to ask the commander of the Undead Tribe through his friend Thunder.

Of course, this was something that ’Battlefield Lightning’ had told him from the start: never guess carelessly when things arise, always check with ’Snow Cloud Peak’ first.

Although Mr. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ had a sharp tongue and would fly into a rage over your stupidity, the outcome of keeping things from him and acting arrogantly was even worse.

Thunder didn’t mind taking a scolding for his friend, so he sincerely hoped his friend wouldn’t choose a path of no return for some inexplicable reason and then tell him it couldn’t be helped.

Being straightforward doesn’t mean being foolish.

When he makes friends, he truly treats them sincerely, but withdrawing his feelings isn’t that difficult either. Anyway, it’s just considered a reward for the happiness of the past, as long as he doesn’t feel cheated.

Ditte actually agreed with Thunder’s thoughts... It wasn’t without reason that they could meet and find joy in each other.

It’s just that in Aesces... not many people dared to play such brave adventure games.

In a world that values status and power, even among siblings, it’s impossible to face each other frankly.

Without equal interaction, there can be no normal friendship.

Ditte was a bit envious of his friend Thunder’s carefree nature, which was well-protected.

But having a friend like that was already his happiness.

So, at least at this stage, he was willing to do as Thunder wished.

Ditte seriously looked at Lind.

His younger brother, in a way, might know more than he does.

But he still didn’t think letting Thunder ask a question to the commander would pose any problem.

This might be slightly offensive, so he intended to say it himself.

”Lind, I plan to ask Thunder to pass a message.” Ditte quietly voiced the agreement between him and Thunder.

”Ah... Thunder is not wrong.” Lind nodded in agreement, ”When facing that commander of the Undead Tribe, being honest is the only way to live safely.

But asking Mr. Snow Cloud Peak about the Ellie incident isn’t very meaningful.”

”What... do you mean?” Ditte asked in shock.

”The one controlling Ellie is the former Goddess of the Sea, the lump of filth blown to the sky by Triton.” Lind sneered, ”Although it’s also related to Mrs. Demit from the Ishmael Household, the Undead Tribe has divided them into two factions to deal with.

Ellie is now opposing Scaret’s Triton and Cain Valley’s Ambori.

You should know who I’m referring to.”

”That enormous Goddess of the Sea?” Ditte had seen from afar that icy goddess sitting high on a cliff, her dress being billowing waves, a murderous aura surrounding her.

”No, it should be said, my ally, Mr. Lu Huayu.” Lind gave his brother a knowing look, ”He certainly wouldn’t let go of anything that could cause trouble for Ambori.

Ellie is doomed.

Anyway, as long as she dies, she will return to the Styx.

Heh~ what saving the soul... do you really believe our parents would accept her inevitable death?

Even if that commander truly wants to give you an answer... when you go back, you’ll only get the stupid question if there’s any chance to make Ellie normal again.

Who let you truly communicate normally with the higher-ups of the Undead Tribe?”

He looked at Ditte sharply: ”My brother, do you really believe our parents love Ellie too much to let go?

They gave up on me so decisively back then!

Even if Ellie’s status is slightly higher than mine, it’s not enough for them to sacrifice their only remaining son.

Heh~ Are you testing me now?”

Ditte couldn’t help but pat his shoulder: ”That’s why I plan to do it through Thunder!

Although...”

Ditte sighed, looking earnestly down at his brother: ”Lind, no matter how many flaws Ellie has, she’s my sister.

I didn’t easily give up on you because I love you.

But I can’t not love her either, I just can’t save her, you understand?

Moreover, our parents were just accustomed to the rules of the Nobles, giving up decisively, which doesn’t mean their past love for us was false.

Mom felt pain when she gave up on you at the time.

It’s just... They are already used to this kind of abandonment and firmly believe they are correct, don’t blame them.”

Lind shook his head with a smile: ”I know.

But as the one abandoned, I also have the right to not want them, right?”

Ditte nodded: ”Of course, so I didn’t plan to take your path.”

”Brother’s affairs can still be sought from me.” Lind answered quickly.

Ditte smiled helplessly: ”So, Ellie...”

”Brother, the Evil God occupying Ellie’s body must adhere to a pact with her to completely devour her soul.” Lind sneered, ”And this agreement is absolutely impossible to fulfill.

I think you can guess what she wants.”

Ditte’s eyes couldn’t help but drift toward the conspicuous Magic Tower on the valley cliff.

”So, that’s why she had the chance to call for help from her parents.” Lind shrugged, ”Her soul should be able to enter the Styx intact in the end, just don’t think about anything else.”

Her greatest fortune in this life was probably used up when she made a pact with the Evil God.

Brother, I asked the Undead Tribe, a pact of Ellie’s level, she definitely knew that who stood against her was not an orthodox deity.

This is her own doing.

I’m indeed not a good person, but I wouldn’t do such a stupid thing... how she could forget all that we taught her since childhood so thoroughly!”

Ditte sighed helplessly: ”I understand, I’ll find a way to cut off their delusions.”

”You just have to tell them, if they want to save Ellie, there’s only one way, first defeat Triton and then defeat Ambori on our side... hey~

Brother, what do you think, how will they express their surrender?

Ah~”

Ditte ruffled the head of his sharp-tongued younger brother with force: ”Be careful, don’t show this attitude outside... Lind, no one likes someone who is vengeful and merciless.

Everyone hopes that every person they meet is a broad-minded gentleman.”

”Heh~ I’m a mage now. I don’t need to care about such troublesome matters, just focus on cultivation.”

”So fast... that’s great! No wonder you kept asking me to come.”

”So, brother, don’t worry about me, and don’t let others exploit your concerns about me.

Basia is already yours!”

”I know, I understand.”

Ditte hesitated for a whole day, but in the end, he did nothing and headed straight back to Basia City.

This surprised ’Snow Cloud Peak’ quite a bit.

After all, the news from Basia City had long been known... the former Countess had publicly stated that Ditte’s visit was merely incidental to see Lind, the main purpose was to see her.

Yet this news had not reached the common people, that is, the commercial street area.

Therefore, Detite, who left Basia City before that, did not receive the news.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ was already prepared, waiting for ’Battlefield Lightning’ to look for him, unexpectedly this current Count Stelter, didn’t make a move.

He thought about it, and knew something must have changed on Lind’s end.

Then he went straight to a certain Road Eunuch who was always accompanying a beauty at the cliff’s edge: ”Road Eunuch, do you know what’s going on with Ditte?”

’Lu Huayu’ glanced at him: ”You just can’t accept that something isn’t under your control, can you?”

”A small stroke affects the whole body, you probably don’t understand this kind of thing.”

”Get lost,” ’Lu Huayu’ said disdainfully, ”I can’t believe you don’t know yourself? When your dog’s nose isn’t enough, you should immediately gulp down two pounds of oysters.”

Although cursed harshly, the Road Eunuch still shared what he knew... when Lind was persuading Ditte, the people from their family were right next to them.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ frowned: ”The news I got is...

Interesting, what are that couple trying to do?”

”The former Countess?” ’Lu Huayu’ thought of another thing, ”Do you want to take a look at the capital?

According to noble rules, the Stelter family is no longer her responsibility, but her teacher is still her teacher.

Don’t forget, the swordsman who had an incident in the Basia barracks came from their sect.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ suddenly realized: ”Tsk~ I almost overlooked this.”

”You didn’t think about it because this matter isn’t without benefit to Ditte himself,” ’Lu Huayu’ smiled, ”At least on the surface.

It can test Lind’s attitude towards the Stelter Family.

Moreover, it makes the relationship between Ditte and us seem closer, right?

However, people like us, can immediately understand the contrived nature of it... her true purpose is definitely not in front of us.

If Lind had known about your news, he could definitely guess.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ chuckled: ”Yes, I indeed didn’t expect such human affections... so, whom is she trying to warn?

Isn’t her teacher a member of the Danboro Royal Family?”

”Has nothing to do with us, right?” ’Lu Huayu’ said nonchalantly, ”A royal family without the power even to stamp their own seal, isn’t it strange they won’t fight to the death?”

”No, no...” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ raised a brow, ”How dare a royal family weak to such a degree make a move against their last guardian?

Don’t forget, Gaia is there!

Can’t let any hazard pass!”

’Lu Huayu’ laughed: ”That’s your problem.

I, well ~ I’ll just accompany our Ambori to knock fish heads.

Right?

Dear, Ambori.”

The tall goddess looked down, holding a trident, theatrically slapping it on the head of a giant monster in front.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ asked in surprise: ”So much... has the other side already started a big move?”
