Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2319: Red Threadʼs Secret

Ye Zhongming swept his gaze around and spotted several cavalry units forming up within his field of vision alone. The largest among them exceeded ten thousand in number.

To be able to organize forces so quickly and in such an orderly manner amidst the chaos of a sudden attack, while the entire camp was in disarray, clearly indicated an excellent commander and high combat discipline among the beastmen.

A powerful burst of energy came from behind. Ye Zhongming knew it was another cavalry unit launching that lightning-like attack, but he didnʼt dodge. Instead, he spun around and met it head-on with his fist.

He wanted to test the quality of this apparent combination technique.

Fist and energy collided. The lightning-like arcs scattered in all directions, turning into small electric serpents that lashed out wildly. Many nearby beastman cavalrymen were caught and fell from their mounts, stiff and twitching. Though not directly killed, many were trampled to death.

Ye Zhongming, meanwhile, was pushed back. He killed two cavalrymen with swift blows and crashed into a group of beastman infantry wielding weapons.

The attack from those seven to eight hundred cavalrymen had power roughly equivalent to three to four hundred Furelai.

Though not on par with the Red Female Guard, it was still quite considerable.

Ye Zhongmingʼs interest in them grew.

He fully unleashed his mental power, continuously probing the town-like camp, trying to locate the commander, but found nothing in the short term.

At that moment, a watchtower behind him suddenly shattered, and an even larger ball of lightning shot toward him. Ye Zhongming grabbed a battle-axe from a dead beastman, infused it with his energy, and hurled it backward. After a loud impact, the lightning shrank somewhat and struck where he had been standing—but he had already moved elsewhere.

Ye Zhongming glanced over and made a rough estimate.

About fifteen hundred men, roughly six hundred Furelai.

Earlier, eight hundred men, over three hundred Furelai.

Was it a proportional relationship?

Perhaps seeing Ye Zhongming dodge, the unit of over a thousand cavalrymen howled, disregarding their comrades near the target, and launched another attack.

This time, Ye Zhongming picked up another weapon—a spear—and threw it as well, but the result was completely different.

The cavalry unit had expected their attack to be only partially intercepted, so they continued charging forward. But this time, their lightning ball dissipated instantly, while the spearʼs speed didnʼt slow at all, piercing through the attack and reaching the beastmen.

The leading rider, the strongest of them, was impaled first, followed by the second, third, and so on.

The spear pierced through nearly a hundred cavalrymen before exploding at the unitʼs rear, sending fragments that felled a large number of surrounding beastmen.

One spear, killing hundreds of beastman cavalry—such terrifying power made many natives instinctively hesitate.

But Ye Zhongming didnʼt stop. This time, he took a bit longer to prepare, leaping onto a watchtower and then diving down, throwing a full-powered punch from above at the ten-thousand-strong cavalry unit that had fully assembled.

This was the first time Ye Zhongming had used his full power today.

The air around his body warped from the force of the punch.

The cavalry unit hadnʼt expected such an attack, and only some of them reacted in time, activating their battle state and counterattacking under the lead of several riders.

Though only a portion responded, it was still thousands of them—the strongest challenge Ye Zhongming had faced so far.

But Ye Zhongming was too fast. Their attacks had barely been launched when the Cloud Peak King arrived.

His fist struck the nascent lightning mass, but instead of the expected clash or explosion, it was... pushed back by Ye Zhongming.

The lightning ball fell into the cavalry unit, followed by Ye Zhongmingʼs energy-infused fist.

After two consecutive blasts, a massive vacuum of life appeared in the center of the unitʼs densest area—no living beings, only twisted remains.

Ye Zhongming landed on the ground, swayed slightly, then kicked out to one side. A wave of violent energy struck that area, felling another group of dazed beastmen.

It wasnʼt until Ye Zhongming had delivered three such rapid side-kicks that the beastmen snapped out of it, shouting as they charged again—only to be easily cut down.

Now going all out, Ye Zhongming became a god of death. He targeted the densest concentrations of beastmen, each strike reaping at least hundreds of lives. With dozens of clones also killing ruthlessly, the baseʼs beastman population plummeted in short order.

At that moment, Ye Zhongming heard a strange language reach his ears.

He moved immediately toward the source. The beastmen cavalry saw this and frenziedly tried to stop him—clearly, that was where their commander was.

But this only gave Ye Zhongming better killing opportunities. He didnʼt need to search; the beastmen delivered themselves to him.

Wave after wave of natives fell.

The voice came again, but this time it didnʼt seem directed at Ye Zhongming—it was speaking to the beastman warriors.

Many beastmen responded in the same language, though their expressions suggested they werenʼt inclined to obey.

Ye Zhongming paused briefly, making many beastmen falter. Then, hundreds of black clones appeared around him, charging with him toward that direction.

He swiftly broke through the blocking beastmen and found the source of the voice.

A beastman noticeably shorter than the others, riding a handsome black six-hoofed beast and wearing a bright silver helmet, came into view.

This should be the baseʼs commander.

Earlier, Ye Zhongming hadnʼt been able to sense him—likely he had some ability to conceal his energy. But now that Ye Zhongming had locked onto him, the Cloud Peak King could tell this was a nine-star-level powerhouse.

As for his exact Furelai, that was still hard to measure.

Having found his target, Ye Zhongming didnʼt hesitate. He flickered past the intercepting beastmen and appeared before this being.

Two massive swords swung from either side—two burly beastman guards blocked Ye Zhongming. The Cloud Peak King glanced at them, his interest piqued.

These two guards, though not quite nine-star, were close. Most importantly, faint red threads connected them as well.

The cavalry units had them; these two guards had them too, and noticeably thicker ones.

This was a matter worth investigating.

As these thoughts crossed his mind, four more clones emerged around Ye Zhongming, charging at the beastman commander from four angles—not to attack him, but to clear the obstacles around him.

The guards fell in droves to the clonesʼ assault, and Ye Zhongming appeared before the beastman commander.

Before the nine-star commander could counterattack, the Cloud Peak Kingʼs arm stretched unnaturally long, instantly clamping onto the beastmanʼs neck.

”I want whatʼs in your mind. Surrender, and Iʼll spare your life.” Through mental energy, Ye Zhongming transmitted these words to him.
