Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2192: Extra points

”Why are you still following me?”

After an intense battle, the mechanical geniusʼs war pet had sustained heavy damage, looking battered and worn as it raced across the wilderness, as if it might fall apart at any moment.

Since completing the trial with Ye Zhongming and the others, the mechanical genius had directly left his previous race and headed toward the Overlapping Water Dead Zone without any hesitation or delay.

He did not know exactly what the message Ye Zhongming had asked him to deliver meant, but he was certain it must be very important.

Perhaps the mechanical genius was a bit neurotic, and in Ye Zhongmingʼs view, might even have some sort of brain condition. But regardless, the mechanical genius had dominated his own region on Earth. The most important factors here were, naturally, his strength and luck, but one thing could not be ignored: his intelligence.

No fool could rise to a position of regional dominance unless everyone else in the world were a fool.

Thus, the mechanical genius had sensed something unusual from Ye Zhongmingʼs expression, tone, and the strange way he had disappeared at the end.

He did not want to delay even a single moment.

As for the Ferrosong race, he had no desire whatsoever to be entangled with them and left without any attachment.

If there was any attachment at all, it was the young girl now by his side.
Originally, the mechanical genius had worried that she might try to stop him, but after walking for over an hour, the young girl named Kani kept following him.

She did not stop him, but she also did not speak.

This made the mechanical genius quite uneasy. There was no help for it—he could not defeat her, after all.

Finally, he could not help but stop and ask Kani.

Kani did not answer immediately. Instead, she stood still and looked into the distance.

”I donʼt know,” she said softly after half a minute.

The mechanical genius did not go crazy or get agitated. Instead, he was silent for a long while, then said, ”You still have parents in the clan. You shouldnʼt follow me. Go back, and just say... that I ran away.”

”But you are my Mayo.”

This time, when she said these words, the young girl no longer had the same self-righteousness and matter-of-factness as before. Her voice was somewhat weak. Perhaps she, too, understood that many things were different now than before.

The mechanical genius remained very quiet, then said, ”I have to go. You...”

After the word ʼyouʼ, he could not say anything else. He did not know what to say.

…………………………

Inside the giant mountain body, the three people and one dragon returned here.

Compared to before, their condition this time was relatively better.

This was the difference between having help and not having help. When the mechanical genius and that young girl had entered the battlefield from outside and drawn away a portion of the parasites, the impact had been direct and decisive.

”I was worried that the clan, having lost contact with us for so long, might make some wrong judgments. Now it seems that, although we cannot completely avoid this risk, there is at least a good chance of preventing it,” Jie Su said, enjoying the healing effects of the therapeutic sparks, with a tone of relief.

Previously, the three people had actually carried a psychological burden when deciding to continue the challenge.

On one hand, they did not know if choosing to return would send them back near Black Book Absolute Peak, which would be like walking back into the tigerʼs mouth. On the other hand, they had to bear the possible consequences for their clans caused by their disappearance.

To some extent, the choices of the several people were somewhat selfish. However, even if the matter had been left to the clans to decide, they would have made the same decision to let them stay and continue the challenge.

Such opportunities did not come often, and missing one might mean missing it for a lifetime.

But the worry in their hearts had always been there.

Of course, what the three people did not know was that their status in their clans was even higher than they themselves imagined. For their sake, the Su Clan and the Star-Eye Clan were currently undertaking some mad scheme.

If they had known, they would not have hesitated to give up the challenge here.

Now, with the mechanical genius going to notify their clans, even if it took some time, it was still better than their news disappearing without a trace.

”That kidʼs abilities are a bit special and strange,” White Robe said, recalling the mechanical genius whom he had met twice, sharing this with Ye Zhongming.

The Cloud Peak King nodded. ”Yes. We can ask him about the details later. Maybe I can take his abilities to the next level.”

One was a mechanical expert, the other a top-tier craftsman. Indeed, there were endless possibilities for cooperation between them.

Ye Zhongming stood up after speaking. He had been the least injured and had already completed his treatment. He looked at the energy door, which was beginning to gradually display images, thought for a moment, and said, ”Thereʼs a question: does outside help affect our points?”

This question directly related to everyoneʼs ʼincomeʼ.

The challenge in this round had indeed been easier, but if the reward points decreased, that would affect their next round as well as Jie Suʼs progress toward becoming a great expert.

”Also, meeting the mechanical genius shows that each of our trials actually takes place within the planetʼs hunting grounds. It confirms that we havenʼt been sent to some strange place. If thatʼs the case...”

Ye Zhongming looked at the energy door. ”Do you think this powerful, high-above existence has some connection to this planet?”

The others fell into thought and speculation.

Having lived in this universe for many, many years, they naturally did not believe in things like gods or deities. Even races that had once held the most devout beliefs could understand this after becoming members of the myriad races of the universe living on the survivor fortresses.

The fact that they still spoke of the Almighty God or the God of the Universe was already purely a form of spiritual form or simply a way to express strong feelings.

Gods were merely beings that had grown powerful to a certain degree.

Then, could the entity that created these trials, which could magically allow them to travel back and forth, heal their injuries, and even let them rapidly increase their Furelai, also be such a being?

Where was he, or she, or even it?

Such a being should have already surpassed the level of a peak expert, right?

As they thought about this, the few of them felt increasingly small themselves.

Their reverence for this place also gradually deepened.

”Letʼs not think about it anymore. There wonʼt be an answer anyway. Letʼs just look at our points,” White Robe said. He had recovered first, stood beside Ye Zhongming, and looked at the energy door.

Before, the reward points of the three people and one dragon had been: White Dragon Horse 6 points, White Robe 21 points, Ye Zhongming 268 points, Jie Su 417 points.

Now, their scores had become: White Dragon Horse 296 points, White Robe 331 points, Ye Zhongming 835 points, Jie Su 932 points.

Originally, everyone had been prepared to discuss how to spend these points, but then, suddenly, behind the images of the few of them, images of the mechanical genius and that young girl appeared. Then, above their heads, a score appeared: 573 points.
