I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 689: Chapter 2: Tough Guy!

Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

The fans in the stands cheered for this brilliant moment.

After Chen Zhong got the ball, facing the pressure from Atletico Madrid players, he calmly delivered a direct pass to the advancing Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese player, while flicking the ball over an opponent, turned to avoid Atletico Madrid’s interception and, without any hesitation from outside the penalty area, swung his strong thighs to shoot towards the goal.

The ball moved quickly; if this shot was inside the penalty area, De Gea might not have reacted in time. However, since Cristiano Ronaldo shot from outside the penalty area, it gave De Gea time to react, and for a goalkeeper with exceptional reflexes and excellent line skills like De Gea, it was enough.

”De Gea!”

”Used his fingertips to deflect the ball.”

”The ball was deflected out of the baseline.”

”C. Ronaldo looks disappointed.”

De Gea resolved two crises within 3-4 minutes, one by rushing off his line to intercept Chen Zhong’s shot before his attempt and the other just now, blocking Cristiano Ronaldo’s shot, which seemed unstoppable.

The Portuguese seemed a bit disappointed; he had felt very good just now, but unfortunately, he didn’t score.

Many fans were amazed by De Gea’s miraculous saves, chattering and discussing this Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.

Even Mourinho couldn’t help but take another look at De Gea. Compared to Casillas’ height, De Gea’s height clearly fit more into his ”imagination” of a goalkeeper.

”De Gea is in excellent form.”

”C. Ronaldo made a bold shot attempt.”

”Actually, the quality of this shot was still very high.”

”But De Gea rejected C. Ronaldo’s shot.”

”He said, no, you won’t score.”

Real Madrid’s consecutive offensive failures also restored some morale in Atletico Madrid’s players, both teams had very tight midfield defenses.

Real Madrid’s midfield formed a triangular shape, with Chen Zhong, Khedira, and Alonso forming a small triangle, so both teams tried to work on the flanks for the next period.

”Atletico Madrid’s attack.”

”Small range of continuous coordination.”

”Chen Zhong retreated.”

”Aguero got the ball.”

”Chen Zhong closed in.”

”Goodness!”

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid might not excel in ball control, but during attacks, their out-of-rhythm, purely front-player-inspired small-range coordination was quite characteristic.

Moreover, Reyes, Aguero, and Fernando were also excellent players.

The ball came to Aguero’s feet. Aguero instantly felt his hair stand on end as he dribbled in an S-shaped pattern along the sideline, not daring to stop, while Chen Zhong was quickly closing in behind him.

Seeing Aguero’s ”devilish footwork,” Chen Zhong couldn’t help but slightly curl his lips.

You fool, by not passing the ball before I reach you, your fate is already sealed.

Aguero felt relieved not being intercepted after controlling the ball for two to three seconds. The sideline was right ahead; he tried to turn along the sideline, passing Chen Zhong, then decide to cut in or pass.

However, Chen Zhong didn’t cooperate with Aguero.

When Aguero slowed down, Chen Zhong directly accelerated, and as Aguero turned, Chen Zhong inserted a leg between Aguero and the ball, then used a ”Body Bump” posture to directly knock Aguero out of the frame.

Yes.

The cameraman noticed Aguero’s intention and specifically gave him a close-up.

The next second, Chen Zhong ”flashed” and knocked Aguero out of the picture.

Exclamations erupted around the stands, and after Chen Zhong got the ball, he paused, turned his head to see Raul Garcia and Paulo Assuncao closing in on him.

Faced with the encirclement of two Atletico Madrid players, Chen Zhong didn’t panic but instead flicked the ball over the two and then charged forward, directly knocking aside the two blocking Atletico Madrid players.

Paulo Assuncao even lost his balance, performing a backflip on the field.

”Ahhhhh!”

”That was definitely a foul!”

”Why wasn’t it whistled? Why?”

The Atletico Madrid fans voiced loud complaints, but no one answered them.

The Brazilian player Paulo Assuncao, standing only 175cm tall, was completely crushed during the physical confrontation with Chen Zhong, not even slowing down his opponent’s actions.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Raul Garcia, once favored by Pellegrini as a ”full-time midfielder,” barely stabilized his position. Although he didn’t stop Chen Zhong, he managed to cling to Chen Zhong’s body, stumbling along with him.

Raul Garcia, 184CM and 84kg, seemed ”nonexistent,” with half his body hanging on Chen Zhong but helplessly ineffective.

Mourinho’s eyes slightly brightened at this scene; whenever he witnessed Chen Zhong performing such feats, it reminded him of his favorite man back at Chelsea.

Didier Drogba!

Watching Chen Zhong’s rampant behavior, Juan Fran, a man discarded after two seasons at Real Madrid and joined Atletico Madrid for 4.25 million Euros to mend their midfield’s weaknesses, finally stepped forward.
