Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 696: Chapter 553: Why the shyness between an old husband and wife? (Part 2)

Yu Qingyi was no exception, especially as she aged, she increasingly paid attention to her appearance.

However, she was now an Innate Martial Artist, and at the very least, her appearance would not show signs of aging for decades.

”These are Flame Red Lotus, and those are some unknown lotus flowers. They’ve been growing for six years and haven’t shown any signs of blooming yet!” Yang Zhenshan pointed at the lotus flowers in the pond.

The unknown lotus had only grown a few leaves until now and hadn’t even sprouted buds, not to mention blooming.

Yu Qingyi took a deep breath, her somewhat rigid brain starting to think.

”No wonder, I always felt that my husband was hiding something from me, huh, so he really was hiding something!”

”Previously, I also wondered why my husband didn’t let others interfere with his wine brewing; I thought he was keeping the formula secret, but it turns out that’s not the case!” Yu Qingyi said discontentedly.

Yang Zhenshan laughed, ”The existence here is too significant, and it’s not good for me to publicize it everywhere. Hiding it from my wife was also something I couldn’t help doing, please do not blame me!”

”Don’t blame you, but those eighteen Jade Bone Ice Heart Pills are all mine!” said Yu Qingyi.

”Um, they’re all yours,” Yang Zhenshan laughed.

Yu Qingyi chuckled, although the shock she received today was quite big, she quickly accepted it because it all came from Yang Zhenshan, and she trusted him and was happy that he could share these with her.

”If there’s nothing else in the future, I’ll bring you in here to take care of these Treasure Medicines and Spirit Plants!” said Yang Zhenshan.

”Um, with so many Spirit Plants, won’t we be able to have many Spirit Fruits in the future?” Yu Qingyi said.

Yang Zhenshan smiled, ”Of course, any Spirit Plants can grow here and will grow very well. In the future, we can also find other Spirit Plants’ fruits and seeds to plant here.”

Yu Qingyi’s eyes sparkled, she was somewhat looking forward to the days of possessing countless Spirit Fruits.

Afterward, she turned into a curious baby, pulling Yang Zhenshan here and there, looking closely and asking all sorts of bizarre questions.

Those questions were very hard for Yang Zhenshan to explain clearly; in fact, many he himself didn’t know why.

”Alright, alright, stop asking, I don’t know these questions either.”

In the end, Yang Zhenshan could only helplessly interrupt Yu Qingyi’s questioning.

The two spent a full day inside the Spiritual Spring Space; if Yang Zhenshan didn’t take Yu Qingyi out, she probably would have planned to live inside the Spiritual Spring Space.

But even after leaving the Spiritual Spring Space, Yu Qingyi was still somewhat overly excited, and during the silent deep night, she wouldn’t sleep, begging Yang Zhenshan to take her back to the Spiritual Spring Space.

Unable to do otherwise, Yang Zhenshan had to take her into the Spiritual Spring Space again.

In order to calm her excessively excited mood, Yang Zhenshan had to pull out his ultimate tactic, engaging in a three hundred round battle with Yu Qingyi in the Spiritual Spring Space.

Not a real battle, but the kind that belongs between husband and wife.

In the grasslands, in the orchards, in the pond, cough cough, what’s left is not detailed as it could be censored.

In any case, when dawn came the next day, when the two emerged from the Spiritual Spring Space, Yu Qingyi looked radiant and nourished.

”You’re getting more and more improper, old man!” Yu Qingyi twisted the flesh around Yang Zhenshan’s waist.

”How am I improper, we are an old married couple, what’s there to be shy about?”

”How could you do those things outside?”

”What outside? Except for the two of us, there is absolutely no outsider in the Spiritual Spring Space!”

”That’s still not acceptable!”

Yang Zhenshan, pinched till it hurt, could not help but beg for mercy, ”Wife, be gentle, gentler, it really hurts!”

”Let’s see if you dare again!” Yu Qingyi released her hand, pouting coyly.

That coquettish manner made Yang Zhenshan unable to resist kissing her again.

The two stayed in Yushan Town for three days before leaving on horseback.

Qingyi was aware of the existence of the Spiritual Spring Space, which made things much easier for Yang Zhenshan. As they climbed the mountains, they no longer stressed Red Cloud and Tianqing; Yang Zhenshan simply put them into the Spiritual Spring Space, and the two of them ascended the vast mountains lightly equipped.

The pair entered the Jiujiang Mountains from Yunwu Mountain and then traveled along the Jiujiang Mountains to the western part of Da Rong. From there, they rode thousands of miles on horseback, diving deep into Wanshan Ridge.

Throughout their journey, they specifically sought out less populated areas.

Various deep forests, various mountains and lakes, admiring the magnificent scenery, and witnessing countless dreamlike, beautiful natural landscapes.

By the time they returned to the Capital City, it was the depth of winter.

For the better part of the year, they had been touring mountains and waters, enjoying their time like celestial beings amidst the landscapes.

If Qingyi had not been concerned about her family, Yang Zhenshan would not even have wanted to return home for the New Year.

Throughout the journey, Yang Zhenshan felt relaxed and content, utterly blissful.

However, this trip had a downside; Yang Mingzhao held grudges against his irresponsible parents.

The others were fine since Yang Mingcheng and Ms. Wang were taking care of the house. Everything at home was normal, but Yang Mingzhao was the only one who was dissatisfied.

”You finally know to come back!”

In the main hall in front of the Marquis Mansion, Yang Mingzhao pouted, looking reproachfully at Yang Zhenshan and Qingyi.

This was the first time both Yang Zhenshan and Qingyi had left home for several months at once. In the past, even if Yang Zhenshan left, Qingyi would always be there to take care of the household. But this time, the two of them left together for half a year, which made Yang Mingzhao miss them quite a bit.

Yang Zhenshan looked at his own son and chuckled, ”What? Isn’t it more fun to be without supervision at home?”

”Not fun at all, I was bored to death!” Yang Mingzhao grabbed Qingyi’s sleeve and exclaimed.

The boy still acted like a child. Previously, when Qingyi was around every day, he found her annoying. With Qingyi not at home, he felt bored.

”Alright, alright, Mom is back!” Qingyi affectionately ruffled his hair and smiled, ”Look, Mom brought you many gifts.”

Saying so, she opened the suitcase she brought back, which was filled with specialty items from various regions.

Including writing brushes, ink sticks, paper, inkstones, as well as knives, swords, and some strange curios.

These were purchased along the way. Although they spent most of the past six months in wild forests, they occasionally entered cities to play and rest.

Having the Spiritual Spring Space, they weren’t worried about carrying things being inconvenient, so they bought many items.

”Look at this spearhead, this is forged by the Shen family of Xiangyuan Prefecture, tough and sharp. Later, we’ll have our craftsmen make a spear shaft for you, then you’ll have a long spear!” Qingyi took out a spearhead and handed it to Yang Mingzhao.

The Shen family of Xiangyuan Prefecture was a famous blacksmith family in Da Rong, and their weapons were very popular. Yang Zhenshan’s Mystical Iron Spear was also crafted by the Shen family.

Although this spearhead wasn’t as good as Yang Zhenshan’s Mystical Iron Spear, it was also made from Mystical Iron, a top-notch material.

Yang Mingzhao looked at the spearhead, his sullen expression immediately changing to one of great joy. He stretched out his hand to feel the blade’s edge, ”Mom, this spearhead is really sharp!”

”Mm, take good care of it, don’t lose it!” Qingyi gently smiled.

Yang Zhenshan watched their mother and son talking, smiled, then turned to Yang Mingcheng, ”Has anything happened at home recently?”

”Nothing, everything at home is fine. The nephews and nieces are all diligently practicing and studying!” said Yang Mingcheng.

Yang Zhenshan nodded, then asked, ”What about the court?”

”Er, Wenyuan has been assigned elsewhere! He left a letter for you before leaving the capital,” Yang Mingcheng said.

Yang Zhenshan faltered, his eyebrows furrowing slightly, ”Assigned elsewhere? Where has he been sent to?”

Lu Wenquan was a top scholar by origin, according to the promotion process of the Da Rong Court, Lu Wenquan should have completed his term at the Six Ministries, then entered the Imperial Examination Hall or returned to the Hanlin Academy.

If everything went smoothly, in about ten to twenty years, he could hold a major court position such as a Chief of Staff of the Six Ministries or an Imperial Censor, and then he would have a chance to enter the cabinet.

The top three scholars from each imperial examination were eligible to enter the cabinet; of course, mistakes could lead to demotion and assignment elsewhere.
