Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 655: Chapter 533 Huge Gap_2

”Send the order to pursue simultaneously!”

Two Da Fu ships also began to turn, taking advantage of the speed of the ships, the Tenglong Navy sailed southward while moving closer to the enemy.

After sailing just over ten miles, the distance between the two parties was less than one hundred and fifty yards.

The Crossbow range of the Tenglong Navy was one hundred and sixty yards, and the most suitable shooting range was between fifty to one hundred and fifty yards.

”Maintain distance, fire at will!” Yu Tonghai grinned with a smile.

Live targets incoming!

Wave after wave of Crossbow Arrows fell, Li Chengzhang and Wang Mingjian’s faces were so gloomy they seemed like they could drip water.

Why aren’t they fighting back?

Because their Crossbow range was less than one hundred and fifty yards, merely a hundred yards.

Back when Yang Zhenshan attacked Chongshan Pass, the Tenglong Guard’s Crossbow had a range advantage; at that time, the Crossbow on Chongshan Pass had a range of one hundred and thirty yards, while the Tenglong Guard’s Crossbow range was one hundred and sixty yards.

The Crossbow owned by Star Moon Sect was even inferior to those on Chongshan Pass back then; their furthest Crossbow range was only one hundred yards.

However, what made Li Chengzhang and Wang Mingjian even more miserable was that the Advanced Tenglong Naval Camp had also caught up from behind.

The ship speed was not advantageous, nor was the Crossbow range, it seemed they only had the role of being beaten!

”What do we do? If we continue like this, we will be worn down eventually!” Wang Mingjian said in a deep voice.

Li Chengzhang looked ahead, ”Change direction, head east!”

He saw yet another fleet appearing in front!

That was the Tenglong Navy’s Left Camp, and as soon as the battle began, the Left Camp had already headed south, aiming to intercept the enemy fleet.

At this moment, they were right in front of Li Chengzhang’s direction.

They headed east, Yu Tonghai followed west, the Advanced Camp tightly biting on their rear, continuously nibbling at the slower small ships.

Both parties circled around, then shifted to head east.

Crossbow Arrows were still being shot, many of Star Moon Sect’s warships were heavily damaged, even the sails of the two Da Fu ships were riddled with large holes from the Crossbow Arrows.

With the sails damaged, the sailing speed slowed, worsening their situation while Star Moon Sect’s warships lost the chance to escape.

And what made Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang even more distressed was that they had once again encountered another fleet in front, that was the Tenglong Navy’s Right Camp.

The Tenglong Navy had now completed their encirclement, the Middle Camp and Left Camp were parallel to Star Moon Sect’s fleet on the south, the Advanced Camp was parallel on the north, the Rear Camp had turned to follow Star Moon Sect’s fleet from behind, and the Right Camp had blocked directly in front of Star Moon Sect’s fleet.

”Charge through!” Wang Mingjian commanded loudly.

They had no intention to slow down but charged straight towards the Right Camp’s fleet ahead.

Yu Tonghai just looked at their sails and knew that they were attempting to forcefully break through.

”Send the order, close in obliquely, prepare for board-to-board combat!”

The formation for encirclement was already complete, it was time for board-to-board combat next.

The sails on the Da Fu ships slightly rotated, adjusting the angle facing the wind, the course shifted silently, directly moving towards the two Da Fu ships converted from merchant ships by Star Moon Sect.

As the distance closed to one hundred yards, the enemy fired Crossbow Arrows, and both sides entered mutual shooting mode, but Star Moon Sect was suppressed in combat.

Even if the hit rate of the Crossbow Arrows was low, in just over two and half minutes of time, the Tenglong Guard had already fired over ten thousand Crossbow Arrows.

Ten thousand Crossbow Arrows would inevitably kill dozens or even hundreds, and possibly destroy the ship’s Crossbows.

Initially, the Star Moon Sect had fewer Crossbows, and after being destroyed by over a dozen Crossbow Arrows, the Crossbows still usable by Star Moon Sect were now less than three hundred.

As the two sides drew closer, Yu Tonghai was even able to see the faces of Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang clearly.

He put down his telescope, staring intently at the two.

Cultivation!

Dealing with those ordinary sailors, Yu Tonghai was confident, but facing these two unknown enemy leaders, Yu Tonghai was somewhat concerned.

If they were Innate Martial Artists, then his role as a Commander could be in danger.

”If the opponent is a Half-step Innate, we can only wear them down with lives.”

”As for Postnatal Ninth Layer, that’s not too much of a concern.”

”Signal the orders, the vice-ship takes command!”

”Personal Guard, follow me in the attack!”

Yu Tonghai drew the long blade at his waist, directly facing Li Chengzhang and Wang Mingjian.

Li Chengzhang and Wang Mingjian also noticed Yu Tonghai, their faces extremely ugly, but at this moment they had no choice but to fight desperately.

The ships drew closer to three zhang, multiple grappling hooks were thrown out, and within moments, more than ten hooks connected the two Da Fu Ships.

”Kill!”

Yu Tonghai roared furiously, leading the charge, leveraging off the ship’s side, and directly leaping onto the enemy’s vessel.

Meanwhile, his Personal Guard also followed him in the assault.

”Seeking death!”

Wang Mingjian roared angrily, unsheathing his long sword and aiming for Yu Tonghai’s vital points.

Yu Tonghai parried his sword, feeling relieved in his heart – it was only Postnatal Ninth Layer!

In an instant, the most fierce board-to-board combat erupted, with numerous warships entangled and shouts of battle filling the sky.

Behind, Xue Ping held the telescope on the vice-ship, observing the conditions of the battle on the warships.

When he noticed Yu Tonghai engaging with Li Chengzhang and Wang Mingjian, he already understood that this battle would have no further twists.

The Tenglong Navy had two sets of command, Yu Tonghai as the primary, Xue Ping as the backup; once Yu Tonghai joined the battle, Xue Ping would take over the command.

The reason for having two command sets is that in naval battles, the power of Martial Artists greatly influences the outcome, the higher the cultivation, the greater the impact on the result.

When the ships commence board-to-board combat, it becomes a life-and-death battle; if the strength disparity between the opposing commanders is too large, the battle could result in a one-sided outcome.

This is mainly because board-to-board combat is a small-scale battle; during such an engagement between two ships, each side has at most a thousand soldiers, but a Martial Arts Strongman could decisively influence the outcome of the battle.

Thus, after Yu Tonghai joined the fight, the Tenglong Navy must have someone take over command; if the enemy’s commander is far stronger than Yu Tonghai, Xue Ping would not hesitate to order a retreat.

Just like now, if Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang were Innate Martial Artists, Xue Ping would have no hesitation in abandoning Yu Tonghai and retreating.

But after confirming that the opponents were not Innate Martial Artists, Xue Ping immediately ordered: ”Full army, attack and annihilate them!”

Following his order, dozens of Da Fu Ships led by the Middle Camp charged into the battleground.

”Kill!”

The soldiers of Tenglong Advanced Guard, like tigers descending the mountains, jumped onto the enemy’s warships one after another.

The Star Moon Sect’s sailors initially thought of stopping them, but as soon as the two sides clashed, they faced a brutal truth.

The disparity in individual soldier strength was too great.

Most of Star Moon Sect’s sailors were merely ordinary people, generally only minor leaders were Martial Artists.

However, every soldier of the Tenglong Guard was a Martial Artist, even the weakest Martial Artist, as long as they weren’t too old to stand, could easily handle an ordinary person.

Whether in terms of individual soldier strength or teamwork among soldiers, Star Moon Sect’s sailors were far inferior to those of the Tenglong Advanced Guard.

The board-to-board combat had barely started when the Star Moon Sect’s sailors were ruthlessly slaughtered in vast numbers.

Most board-to-board battles on the ships lasted less than fifteen minutes before ending, only two battles on Da Fu Ships of the Star Moon Sect continued.

Yu Tonghai, accompanied by his twelve Personal Guards, surrounded Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang.

His Personal Guards were naturally not as good as Yang Zhenshan’s Personal Followers, not even compared to the Yang Family Guards, but these twelve Personal Guards, in coordination with Yu Tonghai, managed to entangle the two Postnatal Ninth Layer Martial Artists, preventing them from participating in or altering other battles.

The two sides were entwined for over a quarter of an ho
