Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 689: Chapter 550 Realm, Sincere in Heart, Sincere in Spear!

”Niece-in-law, this lady doesn’t seem simple at all!” Qu Suian said with a chuckle.

Yang Wanqing was taken aback, ”Second Uncle, Aunt Hongyun has always been with my grandmother!”

”Yes, it’s apparent; she has an extraordinary presence!” Qu Suian gave a thumbs up!

Qu Shaogong interjected, ”Second Uncle, be serious!”

Qu Suian glanced at him annoyed, ”When have I ever been unserious!”

”When have you ever been serious!” Qu Shaogong unceremoniously revealed.

Qu Suian, feeling his authority as an elder challenged, coughed lightly, ”Cough cough, you little rascal, don’t spout nonsense about me!”

Qu Changkong glared at him, ”Don’t you know how you behave yourself? Always loafing around, never doing anything serious!”

Qu Suian had been frail since childhood, which also meant that he almost couldn’t practice martial arts.

In the Duke Xing Mansion, being unable to practice martial arts was akin to being useless. As a child, Qu Suian was very isolated because of this, and as he grew up, he became reckless.

Unfortunately, his body didn’t support his reckless behavior, so his recklessness mainly showed through his attitude and words.

”I can’t do any serious work, huh, am I not allowed to eat!” Qu Suian said nonchalantly.

Qu Shaoshang pouted and called out, ”Dad~~”

Qu Suian helplessly said, ”Alright, alright, my fault, Dad’s at fault!”

In the Qu family, Qu Suian had a bit of a Demon Lord of Mayhem attribute, not even Qu Changkong could manage him, but when facing his daughter Qu Shaoshang, he was incredibly affectionate.

”Niece-in-law don’t mind, it’s just that your Second Uncle is a bit unconventional!” saying so, he grinned at Yang Wanqing and Red Cloud.

Yang Wanqing smiled warmly, ”Second Uncle, please go ahead with your meal!”

”Shaoshang, come over and eat!”

She served everyone, then the family started their meal.

The atmosphere in the Qu family was still very good, although there were fewer members, which was exactly why there were no conflicts at home.

After breakfast, Qu Shaogong took Yang Wanqing to meet Second Aunt Li.

Second Aunt Li had been ill for many years, a condition that arose during the birth of Qu Shaoshang. Initially, she could still walk, but in recent years, she had to stay in bed.

The Qu family had sought many doctors and used many Treasure Medicines for her, but unfortunately, none could cure her illness.

Second Aunt Li was gentle in nature, but her spirits were somewhat low, resting after just a few words.

Then Yang Wanqing began to familiarize with the internal affairs of Duke Mansion, a huge mansion that required lots of management, but fortunately, Yang Wanqing also had some experience managing household matters from her time with the Yang family.

Ms. Wang had already allowed her to manage some affairs in the Yang family.

Moreover, the Yang family’s women’s school also taught some household management skills, such as accounting, reading account books, various fabrics, spices, tea leaves, beverages, paper, and other daily necessities’ categories and prices.

They even taught some business experience, serving as a foundation for managing family businesses.

Women from great clans all learned these things, and Yang Wanqing had also studied them.

Yang Wanqing spent two days in the Qu family and overall, found things to be satisfactory, except for the quietness of the Qu family which she was a bit unaccustomed to; nothing else felt unpleasant.

On the third day after her marriage, Qu Shaoshang and Yang Wanqing returned for a visit.

After a lively family lunch, Yang Wanqing approached Yang Zhenshan, ”Grandpa, do we still have Bee King Honey?”

”Yes, what’s up?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

Yang Wanqing spoke softly, ”Second Uncle and Second Aunt of the Qu family are both not in very good health, and I’d like to give them some Bee King Honey to help boost their health!”

”Just their poor health?” Yang Zhenshan inquired.

”Second Uncle has been frail since childhood, and Second Aunt had fallen ill early in her years!” Yang Wanqing explained.

Yang Zhenshan thought it over; given the power of Duke Xing Mansion, if it were a common illness, it should have been cured long ago. If even Duke Xing Mansion couldn’t treat Second Uncle and Second Aunt’s illnesses, Yang Zhenshan also had no solution.

”Hundred Herbs Brew, Dongling Spring, and Bee King Honey can all nourish the body. Your dowry contains quite a few bottles of Hundred Herbs Brew, so you can give them some!”

”When we return, Grandpa will send some more over!”

Yang Wanqing whispered, ”Isn’t Hundred Herbs Brew too precious?”

Hundred Herbs Brew could be exchanged for Treasure Medicine, and although Yang Wanqing wasn’t familiar with the specifics, Hundred Herbs Brew has always been priceless in the Capital City.

Yang Zhenshan smiled, ”No need to skimp when it’s for family, but try not to give it to others!”

Yang Wanqing nodded repeatedly.

After the visit, Yang Zhenshan accompanied Yu Qingyi for two days of sightseeing in Nanhua City before preparing to return to the Capital City. However, before heading back, he still had one thing to do.

That day, he visited the Duke Xing Mansion again.

After chatting casually with Qu Changkong in the tea room for a while, he suddenly said, ”Interested in a bout?”

Qu Changkong was startled, ”A bout of what?”

Yang Zhenshan’s lips quirked up, ”What else could it be, I’ve brought my spear!”

Qu Changkong looked at him, ”Brother, if it’s a duel, I won’t go easy on you!”

Yang Zhenshan laughed, ”Nor will I go easy on you!”

Qu Changkong burst into laughter, ”In that case, let’s have a bout!”

”Servant, fetch my halberd!”

Moments later, the two men stood in the training ground of the Duke Xing Mansion, one with a spear and the other with a halberd, facing each other.

Qu Changkong’s halberd was a square-ended ’Ji’ shaped Fangtian halberd, which is generally a ceremonial item, rarely used in real combat not because it couldn’t be used, but because it demands high skill from the user.

The two stood opposite each other, freely releasing their imposing auras.

The intense killing intent wafted over the training ground, causing the surrounding guards and followers to change their expressions.
