Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 691: Chapter 551 An Unexpected Encounter

The two stood in silence facing each other.

After a long while, Qu Changkong spoke again, “You just want to have a match with me?”

“Mhm, to compete with you, firstly, is to verify my recent insights, and secondly, to tell you that my strength is not inferior to yours. Take good care of my granddaughter in the future. If my granddaughter ever suffers any grievance, heh, I’ll dismantle your Duke Mansion!”

Yang Zhenshan said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

He was mainly worried about Yang Wanqing being wronged in the Qu family. Although the Qu family is currently harmonious, and Qu Shaogong is very fond of Yang Wanqing, who knows whether there will be changes in the future.

If any misfortune befalls the Qu family, if Qu Shaogong’s heart changes, then Yang Wanqing would be isolated and helpless in Southern Border Town. How could Yang Zhenshan rest easy?

Hence, his competition with Qu Changkong today was to show him and the other members of the Qu family that should Yang Wanqing ever suffer any wrongs, he, as a grandfather, has the strength to seek justice for his granddaughter.

Qu Changkong’s eyes widened, “Just because of this, how could I ever let my granddaughter-in-law be wronged? Rest assured, if Shaogong dares to get into mischief, I will most certainly break his legs!”

“Mhm, best to break both legs!” Yang Zhenshan nodded.

“…”

Qu Changkong broke into a cold sweat.

To really hit him!

That’s his dear grandson, and the sole seedling of their Qu family.

Maybe wait till there’s a great-grandchild before breaking legs?

Qu Changkong felt that if there were a great-grandchild, then breaking his grandson’s legs wouldn’t matter.

After babbling on like this for a while, Yang Zhenshan took his leave.

Early the next day, the Yang family set off on the journey back to the Capital City, compared to their arrival, their return was undertaken with light travel.

They left behind the dowry, the accompanying guards, and servants.

What originally was a troop of more than a hundred people now diminished to less than twenty, aside from ten personal followers, only Yang Zhenshan, Yu Qingyi, Yang Mingcheng, Ms. Wang, Yang Chengye, and Yang Mingzhao remained.

Yang Zhenshan did not ask Ai Benhou to escort them any longer. Did such a group of travelers need any escort?

Don’t joke; if they encountered bandits again, it would be rough for the bandits.

However, after leaving Nanhua City, Yang Zhenshan decided to part ways with Yu Qingyi.

“You all follow the original route back; your mother and I need to take a detour for some errands!” Yang Zhenshan told Yang Mingcheng.

Yang Mingcheng had no objections, nor was he worried about the safety of Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi.

“Oh, Dad, Mom, then we’ll go ahead!” Yang Mingcheng said.

“Dad, Mom, I want to come with you!” Yang Mingzhao, however, wanted to accompany Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi.

Yang Zhenshan said, “You obediently follow your elder brother. If you don’t listen, I won’t take you out with us next time!”

We’re going to enjoy some couple’s time alone, why would we bring along a third wheel!

“Ah!” Yang Mingzhao was somewhat hesitant, “But I want to be with Dad and Mom!”

“No!” Yang Zhenshan firmly refused.

Yu Qingyi stroked his head, “Alright, you go home with your brother first, we’ll be back in a few days too!”

Yang Zhenshan had already discussed it with her; on their way back, they were going to enjoy nature and excursion.

Yu Qingyi had been in the inner house for years; the rare opportunity to travel with Yang Zhenshan made her quite willing.

Thus, the two irresponsible parents cheerfully left their son behind, happily embarking on a trip that was exclusively theirs.

They didn’t hurry to leave Southern Border Town but dived into Yunwu Mountain instead.

In Yunwu Mountain, the scenery was magnificent, with countless exotic flowers and rare herbs; Yang Zhenshan was also intent on a treasure-hunting expedition.

Unfortunately, he was overly optimistic; the world isn’t flush with treasures, and those treasures don’t come by easily either. If they were everywhere, they would no longer be treasures.

The couple spent several days strolling in the mountains, not finding any treasures, but they did find many beautiful plants, including flowers, medicinal herbs, and some wild fruit trees and so on.

Yang Zhenshan incidentally dug some up to transplant into the Spiritual Spring Space.

Wandering around Yunwu Mountain, not only did they not head towards the Capital City, but they also adventured to the western part of Southern Border Town.

On top of a lofty peak, Yu Qingyi stood on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the misty forests below.

“Husband, look over there, there seems to be a town!”

Yu Qingyi pointed to the southwest and called out.

Yang Zhenshan tossed two peaches to Red Cloud and Tianqing behind him.

Tianqing was Yu Qingyi’s horse, also the son of Red Cloud, now ten years old, with an impressively handsome appearance, long limbs, and robust strength, only slightly less impressive than Red Cloud.

Yang Zhenshan walked to the edge of the cliff, took out a telescope, and looked downwards, “Do you want to go down and have a look?”

After days in the mountain, they also needed to find a place to rest.

Although they could rest leisurely in the woods, it was after all not as comfortable as staying in a structure.

“Can we go there?” asked Yu Qingyi.

Yang Zhenshan looked at the terrain below and said, “Yes! The slope there is gentle, Red Cloud and Tianqing should be able to make it down!”

Sharp cliffs couldn’t stop their stride, but Red Cloud and Tianqing weren’t capable of that. They could leap up to a height of two zhang, but anything taller would be difficult for them to overcome.

Well, the most tired ones on this trip were not them, but Red Cloud and Tianqing.

Even though they’re extraordinary horses, they still can’t compare with Innate Martial Artists.

“Then let’s go down and have a look! We can rest there for the night!” Yu Qingyi proposed.

Then, the two, along with their horses, descended the mountain.

The two moved freely through the mountain with ease, leaping continuously, while Red Cloud and Tianqing followed cautiously behind.
