Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 656: Chapter 534: Complete Victory, The Strategy of Sowing Discord

”Surrender, you have no chance of winning!” Yu Tonghai shouted.

Wang Mingjian coldly shouted, ”Kill us if you must, but don’t dream of us surrendering!”

Yu Tonghai smirked, and at this moment, soldiers from other warships were converging towards this area, and more and more soldiers were boarding the Da Fu Ship, even Xue Ping had come over.

”If I’m not mistaken, you two must be the two army commanders of the Four Flag Army, Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang!”

Each unit of the Four Flag Army has its own flag, featuring a blue background and a yellow moon, divided into four flags according to the shape of the moon.

Thus, one could distinguish the Four Flag Army just by looking at the flags.

”What of it, what if not?” Li Chengzhang coldly said.

Yu Tonghai said, ”Surrender, and not only will you have a chance to live, but so will your clansmen!”

”Heh, that’s big talk. We are just a part of the Star Moon Sect’s Four Flag Army. Defeating us doesn’t mean you have defeated the Star Moon Sect!” Wang Mingjian said.

Yu Tonghai shrugged and said, ”I am merely a Commander from Da Rong.”

”If you surrender, you can still make amends for your actions. But if you refuse, there will only be one outcome, the extermination of your clan!”

Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang exchanged glances.

Extermination!

His words were not wrong; if the Star Moon Sect were defeated, their clans would certainly be exterminated.

But if the Star Moon Sect were victorious, well, even they did not have much confidence in the Star Moon Sect.

”Think not only of yourselves but also of your children and grandchildren!”

”Join Da Rong, with your cultivation and strength, it would be easy to secure a modest official position. Perhaps you won’t be able to live as freely as before, but at least your descendants will continue to thrive and prosper!”

”Moreover, if you join Da Rong, your cultivation might even improve further, given the resources that Da Rong possesses, which are incomparable to what the Star Moon Sect has!”

Yu Tonghai continuously persuaded.

Killing these two was not difficult, but it wasn’t very meaningful.

He felt that having these two surrender would be more advantageous for Da Rong, for Yang Zhenshan.

”But how can you guarantee the safety of our families?” Li Chengzhang was somewhat moved.

”That’s simple, just publicly announce that you died in battle.”

”I think the Star Moon Sect, lacking as they are in honor, would not trouble your families.”

Yu Tonghai chuckled.

Wang Mingjian and Li Chengzhang exchanged another glance. Wang Mingjian took a deep breath and first dropped his sword.

”I hope you will keep your word!”

Seeing him drop his sword, Li Chengzhang had no choice but to throw down his knife as well.

”Bind them, hehe, we’ll have to inconvenience you two for a while!” Yu Tonghai laughed.

The two surrendered, which Yu Tonghai felt was the best possible outcome, beyond that, he hadn’t thought much about it.

Go back on his word?

I’m just a Deputy Prime Minister; what power do you think I have to make decisions?

Besides, if the Marquis decides to kill you, it’s not me who lied; I never promised you anything.

Yu Tonghai was already prepared to go back on his word; no matter how Yang Zhenshan decided to deal with these two, he wouldn’t interfere.

It was just a spur of the moment decision for him.

After the battle, they cleaned up the battlefield.

The attack came suddenly, and the Tenglong Advanced Guard had to respond hastily, but the victory was still very commendable.

This single battle alone obliterated two of the four divisions of the Star Moon Sect’s Four Flag Army.

The most important thing was that the battle was fought beautifully.

The entire battle lasted less than two hours; the Tenglong Advanced Guard devoured the enemy like dumplings.

Killing over three thousand enemies, capturing just as many, and seizing over a hundred ships, both large and small—many small boats were either smashed or pierced by crossbow arrows, sinking to the bottom.

Yet the losses for the Tenglong Advanced Guard themselves were minimal, with fewer than a hundred casualties.

As dusk approached, the soldiers finished cleaning the battlefield, secured the prisoners, and prepared to return to Zhao Wu Guard with the captured warships.

Of course, not all of the Tenglong Advanced Guard could return to Zhao Wu Guard; Yu Tonghai had Xue Ping lead the rear and front camps to continue patrolling the shipping lanes around Dongyang Island, while he led the remaining three camps along with the captured ships and prisoners back to Zhao Wu Guard.

Over two hundred warships of various sizes sailed past Dongyang Island again, and on the dock of Dongyang Island, Zhu Ming watched as the ships passed, his eyes nearly popping out.

”Those are the New Moon Army and Crescent Army of Star Moon Island!”

”They lost just like that?”

”That was too quick!”

Zhu Ming couldn’t believe it. He had seen some of the battle, but as the two sides continued to move and fight away from Dongyang Island, he didn’t know the specifics of the battle.

But now, seeing the shared fleet of the Tenglong Advanced Guard and the Star Moon Sect, it was clear the Tenglong Advanced Guard had achieved a complete victory.

In just a few hours, not only had the battle ended, but the battlefield was also cleaned up—this was incredibly fast.

Xue Ping once again arrived at the dock of Dongyang Island. He looked at Zhu Ming and smiled amicably, ”Manager Zhu, could you possibly offer us some convenience now?”

Zhu Ming watched the fleet grow distant, then looked at the sails flying north of the dock, took a deep breath, and said, ”I can offer convenience, but I hope that your soldiers will abide by the rules here!”

”Of course, we only wish to rest here, with absolutely no designs on Dongyang Island!” Xue Ping declared.

After speaking, Xue Ping let the boat dock, ”Actually, we could cooperate!”

”Our Tenglong Guard has a port in the northeast of Da Rong, and we have close maritime trade relations with the Li Sheng Dynasty and Desheng Dynasty!”
