Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 688: Chapter 549: Yang Mingcheng was secretly wiping away tears.

Initially, they both truly felt that this little girl couldn’t be raised.

Listening to Yang Mingcheng’s words, Ms. Wang also remembered the little girl from back then, her heart souring and her eyes becoming moist.

”Alright, stop crying. What a sight! If outsiders see this, they’ll laugh at us!”

Ms. Wang, seeing Yang Mingcheng crying intensely, spoke somewhat annoyed.

Yang Mingcheng wiped his tears away, ”I know, I’ll stop crying!”

Moments later, the bridal procession from Duke Xing Mansion arrived, and Yang Mingcheng and Ms. Wang quickly composed themselves and went to the main hall.

Yang Zhenshan looked at Yang Mingcheng, ”You’ve been crying!”

”No, no~~” Yang Mingcheng quickly shook his head.

”Really?”

”Really!” Yang Mingcheng asserted.

Yang Zhenshan turned to Yu Qingyi, whose lips were twitching uncontrollably.

”Mingcheng hasn’t been crying!” Zhengshan teased further.

Yu Qingyi could no longer hold it in and burst into giggles.

Ms. Wang also started laughing beside them.

Yang Mingcheng’s face turned bright red.

”Big brother, your eyes are all red from crying!” Yang Mingzhao chimed in.

Yang Mingcheng disdainfully glanced at his younger brother and exclaimed, ”Stop talking nonsense. Big brother wasn’t crying. Just got some sand in my eyes!”

”Please, I’m not a kid anymore. You think I can’t tell?” Yang Mingzhao expressed his disdain.

Yang Mingcheng fell silent, no longer wanting to deal with anyone.

The sound of horns and drums began; Qu Shaogong entered, dressed in wedding attire and wearing a red flower, coming to pay respects to the Yang family elders.

The wedding officiant, the Town Governor of Southern Border Town Zhuang Yan, recited blessings, guiding Qu Shaogong through the rituals of bowing and paying respects. The intricate process lasted for more than a half-hour, after which Yang Chengye carried out his bride.

Yang Zhenshan and others spoke a few words to Yang Wanqing before Ms. Wang covered her with the red bridal veil.

Immediately, the music surged, and the groom had fetched the bride, followed by them returning to the mansion for the wedding ceremony.

The bridal procession toured around Nanhua City amidst the music and drums; Yang Zhenshan and others got ready and went to Duke Xing Mansion.

After the ceremonial bows at the hall, Duke Xing Mansion held a grand wedding banquet, inviting officials from the Southern Border Town.

The lively banquet lasted for two hours, only ending late into the night.

By the time Yang Zhenshan and others returned, it was already between 9 p.m and 11 p.m.

...

The following morning before dawn.

While it was still dark, Red Cloud and Treasure Bead stood outside the bridal chamber, softly calling, ”Miss, miss, it’s time to get up!”

Inside the room, Yang Wanqing, hearing the noise, quickly sat up, the thin blanket slipping off, revealing her delicate collarbones.

”What’s the matter?” Qu Shaogong also woke up, asking puzzledly.

Yang Wanqing smiled, ”We still need to pay respect at the hall!”

What she referred to was not the wedding ceremony at the hall but a bride’s ceremony to pay respect to her in-laws at her husband’s home.

”Oh right, we should hurry up then. I think we also have to visit my parents today!” Qu Shaogong also remembered the formalities, promptly getting out of bed.

The young married couple started dressing, Qu Shaogong watching Yang Wanqing while putting his clothes on, his handsome face adorned with a silly smile.

”Why are you looking at me like that?” Yang Wanqing asked, feeling a bit shy.

”My wife looks so beautiful!” Qu Shaogong said.

”Hmph, spare me your sweet nothings. I don’t fall for that!”

”What do you fall for, then?” Qu Shaogong gave a sly smile, leaning in to steal a kiss from Yang Wanqing’s red lips.

Yang Wanqing, feeling both shy and annoyed, pushed him away.

Her automatic reaction was mild, but it seemed she forgot her own strength. Unprepared, Qu Shaogong fell directly on his bottom.

Qu Shaogong looked at Yang Wanqing in a daze, and Yang Wanqing, also stunned for a moment, quickly reached out to help him up.

”Are you hurt?”

Qu Shaogong was at a loss for words.

”Why aren’t you saying anything?” Yang Wanqing’s large eyes looked innocently at Qu Shaogong.

Qu Shaogong sighed deeply, ”It seems your husband needs to diligently cultivate.”

Yang Wanqing’s eyes curved in a smile, ”Even with diligence, your cultivation will never surpass mine. If you dare upset me, humpf~~”

She raised her fist, the meaning was clear.

Suddenly, Qu Shaogong felt that his married life seemed a bit gloomy.

What does it feel like to have a wife you can’t defeat?

Liang Jinyan should be qualified to answer this question!

But unfortunately, he had no chance to ask Liang Jinyan.

The two laughed and played for a while, Red Cloud and Treasure Bead entered the room to take care of their washing up.

After the washing up, Yang Wanqing went to the kitchen to prepare the meals.

Her cooking skills weren’t great, but with Red Cloud’s help, she quickly made several nice dishes.

On the other side, Qu Changkong was already sitting in the main hall, occasionally stretching his neck to look outside the door.

”Dad, stop looking, they will come soon!” Qu Suian, sitting beside him, said with a bit of amusement.

”Alas, I haven’t even met Wanqing yet!” Qu Changkong said somewhat conflicted.

Although he agreed to this marriage, he really hadn’t met Yang Wanqing before.

At the wedding yesterday, he only saw Yang Wanqing with her veil covered, and he still didn’t know what Yang Wanqing looked like.

”Grandpa rest assured, Sister Wanqing is very beautiful!” Qu Shaoshang said while yawning.

”That’s your sister-in-law!”

Qu Changkong glared at Qu Shaoshang, who was startled, ”Right, Sister Wanqing is now my sister-in-law.”

He was used to calling Yang Wanqing sister; when in the Capital City, he often went to play with Yang Wanqing, who should be his best friend in Capital City.

Qu Suian asked, ”What is your sister-in-law like?”

He was also very curious about Yang Wanqing.

Although he was Qu Shaogong’s uncle, he, like Qu Changkong, had not actually met Yang Wanqing.

Qu Shaoshang smiled and said, ”Sister-in-law is very nice, when in the Capital City, she often took me out to play and bought me a lot of good things!”

Actually, Qu Shaoshang had answered such questions many times before, but he was still eagerly answering them now.

While the three were talking, Qu Shaogong and Yang Wanqing came over, with Red Cloud and Treasure Bead, along with several other servant girls carrying the meals.

Looking at Yang Wanqing, Qu Changkong quickly adjusted his posture, looking like an elder.

The meals were served, and Qu Shaogong and Yang Wanqing paid their respects to Qu Changkong and Qu Suian in turn.

The Qu family had a sparse population, other than these two, there was also an ailing second madam.

At this moment, Yang Wanqing felt the difference between the Qu family and the Yang family; previously when brides from the Yang family met the elders, it was always a large busy gathering in the hall.

In contrast, it was much quieter in the Qu family.

”Grandpa, please have your meal!”

After the ceremony, Yang Wanqing served a bowl of rice for Qu Changkong and spoke in a quiet and gentle manner.

Qu Changkong nodded approvingly, ”No rush!”

”Luo Fu.”

An old servant beside carrying a tray walked over, on the tray was a small square seal and a key.

”This is the key to the Duke Xing Mansion’s treasury, and this is my private seal for household use.”

”Yang, since you’ve married into the Qu family, you will now manage the Inner House of the Qu family! Feel free to discuss anything with Shaogong!”

”If you feel wronged, you can also come to Grandpa, and I will surely stand up for you!”

Qu Changkong said kindly.

Yang Wanqing looked at the square seal and key on the tray and then looked towards Qu Shaogong.

Qu Shaogong nodded slightly.

”Thank you for your trust, Grandpa, I will manage the household well!” Yang Wanqing thanked with a bow.

Qu Changkong nodded, ”Your second aunt is unwell, go and meet her later, take more care of her side in daily life!”

”Yes, I understand!” Yang Wanqing took the tray and handed it to Red Cloud behind her.

Red Cloud calmly held the tray.

Qu Changkong looked up at Red Cloud, ”Are you also Wanqing’s dowry?”

Red Cloud replied, ”In response to Lord Duke, I am not a dowry, the Marchioness asked me to stay in Duke Xing Mansion to take care of the Miss for five years!”

Qu Changkong stroked his beard and smiled, ”That’s also true, I suppose the Marchioness is also reluctant to give you to our Qu family!”

He could see at a glance that Red Cloud’s cultivation was not low, such a servant girl would definitely be considered a highly valued close person in any household.
