Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 667: Chapter 539: The greater the storm, the more people die.

Yang Zhenshan was not aware of Yan Wushang’s frustration; the Four Seas Navy’s escape from the encirclement of the Star Moon Sect was entirely because Yang Zhenshan had no intention of engaging in battle just yet.

So, as soon as he learned that the enemy intended to encircle them, he decided to avoid battle first.

If at this time a small portion of his ships at the rear were caught by the enemy, Yang Zhenshan would not hesitate to abandon them.

After sailing northward for half an hour, the clouds in the sky became exceptionally thick.

Dark clouds closed in, pressing down like a heavy blanket of lead overhead.

The wind grew stronger, and the speed of the warships sailing nearly against the wind slowed even more.

Yang Zhenshan looked up at the firmament, and when he saw a brilliant flash of lightning cutting through the sky, he issued another command: “Signal the Jiujiang Navy to turn left for a counterattack, and the remaining Four Guards to turn right for a counterattack!”

Boom~~

Thunder exploded.

Large drops of rain fell from the sky.

Now, if one were to look down from above, they would see the long dragon formation of the Four Seas Navy beginning to split, with the leading warships having already circled around to change direction, while the ships at the rear were still converging together.

The warships of the Star Moon Sect followed closely behind like a long dragon.

The two dragons were several miles long, with the last ships in the line totally unaware of the situation ahead.

“Beat the drums!” Yang Zhenshan shouted again.

The boom of the war drums resonated instantly, interspersed with the rumbling of thunder.

The wind grew fiercer, the howling sea breeze whipped up surging waves, and even the large Da Fu ships began to pitch and roll, let alone the smaller ships bobbing uncertainly in the wind and waves.

Yang Zhenshan watched the raging waves, a cold smile appearing on his lips.

The greater the storm, the higher the price of fish?

No!

The greater the storm, the more people die.

An Yuxing, Daoist Xuanzhen, Liang Shengze, and Lu Jin, watching the surging waves, all had serious expressions.

In this kind of weather, one careless move could mean the destruction of ships and loss of lives.

“Marquis Yang, this hellish weather won’t flip us over, will it?” Lu Jin couldn’t help but ask.

Lu Jin was a loose cultivator, a very pure one, without descendents or posterity. His participation in this summons from the Patronage Court was for the True Essence Pills promised by Emperor Yanping.

Lu Jin had lived for ninety years without ever going to sea; this was his first time.

Previously, he had felt no fear about setting sail, but seeing such weather and feeling the Da Fu ship’s rolling, he couldn’t help but feel a bit worried.

“Senior Lu, rest assured!” Yang Zhenshan said with a faint smile.

The storm was strong at the moment, but not enough to capsize a Da Fu ship. Not to mention the Da Fu ships, but even a small warship, if it’s not too unlucky, would not be overturned.

Moreover, the storm wouldn’t continue to grow and even this rain would not last too long, only for a little over two hours.

So, Yang Zhenshan was not worried about the impact of the weather; on the contrary, he could use the sudden wind to gain an advantage on the battlefield.

But the others did not have Yang Zhenshan’s ability to predict the weather. When the wind and clouds changed abruptly, both the soldiers of the Four Seas Navy and the star Moon Sect and pirates inevitably grew worried.

The Four Seas Navy’s soldiers had to follow orders; they did not dare to contravene them or to flee on their own.

However, the pirates gathered by the Star Moon Sect were different. Faced with such ghastly weather, their first thought was to find a place to take shelter from the wind.

So, the long dragon formation that had originally been following behind the Four Seas Navy became chaotic in a flash.

Many ships adjusted their sails, preparing to change course and return to Full Moon Island.

Just then, the warships from the Four Seas Navy, which had turned for a counterattack, rushed forward quickly with the gusting wind.

The boom of the war drums grew more urgent, while the somber sound of the horns resonated hauntingly between sea and sky.

The ships rolled and pitched too violently, and the soldiers abandoned using crossbow arrows.

But there was no need for crossbow arrows now. Their ship’s speed was frighteningly fast, and the vessels in front uncontrollably rammed into enemy ships.

Crack~~

Two warships collided, wooden planks shattering and splintering.

“Attack!”

Amidst the wild waves and storm, ships collided with one another, and grappling hooks linked them together.

Soldiers stumbled aboard heaving ships as they commenced board-to-board combat.

Initially, only a few ships were engaged in combat, but soon they linked up forming a tight ensemble.

Beneath the dark sky, amongst the fierce storm, warships incessantly crashed into each other.

At this time, the advantage of larger ships was fully leveraged; small ships would be smashed to splinters against them, and even when large ships collided, although they too would be damaged, they wouldn’t break apart.

Yan Wushang at the back saw the battle begin and frowned deeply.

“Pass the order, have everyone press on!”

“Anyone who dares to flee, execute without mercy!”

He had already seen some pirate ships beginning to flee, which infuriated him so much he wanted to grab a sword and chop down those useless cowards himself.

“Damn it!”

The battle at the front grew fiercer, but Yan Wushang’s rage burned even hotter because, right at the start of the fight, the pirates under his command started showing signs of breaking rank.

It wasn’t that these pirates were unwilling to fight to the death; it was that their ships were simply too fragile.

The pirates wanted to retreat, but on a ship, retreating wasn’t as easy as just wanting to; they needed time to turn around, and the Four Seas Navy attacking them didn’t give them a chance to do so.

The pirates primarily used small ships, and although the Four Seas Navy had many of the same, they possessed more medium-sized Hai Cang ships and patrol ships.

Most importantly, the Four Seas Navy had even more Da Fu ships, which, with the wind’s assistance, became like raging beasts, smashing all obstructing ships ahead to pieces.
