I Married the President

Chapter 331: Chapter 331: Somehow Can’t Keep Up with His Pace

”Of course we’re turning it in,” the squad leader said arrogantly before leading his team away.

’What are they turning it in for? That’s crazy.’

Claire Sinclair was completely speechless, but there was nothing she could do. She would just have to wait until she saw Adrian Quincy and see if she could get her phone back then.

Thinking about the ”bullying” she had just endured, she felt a little annoyed, but also a little intimidated.

It seemed that every time she made up her mind to be with him, someone would pop up to remind her, in one way or another, that she didn’t belong in this place.

’Am I progressing too slowly, or is he moving too fast?’

’Claire, you really can’t do this. You just can’t keep up with him...’

The courage Claire Sinclair had just managed to summon vanished without a trace in an instant.

’Forget it. I’ll just go back. I’m not in the mood today.’

Dejectedly, she turned and walked toward the dim exit.

The sky outside had already darkened.

Claire Sinclair walked out of the courtyard and headed for the main gate of the residence.

She had only taken a few steps when someone suddenly called out from behind her, ”Claire Sinclair, where are you going?”

Claire Sinclair glanced back. It was Nancy Lockwood who had spoken.

”I’m heading back. Do you need something?”

Nancy Lockwood frowned. ”President Lockwood is here. Young Master Quincy is in a very important meeting with him, and it won’t be over for a while. I’ll take you inside.”

’So President Lockwood is here!’

No wonder there were so many unfamiliar faces in the residence. They were probably from the Presidential Palace.

It seemed she had really come at a bad time. Claire Sinclair politely refused, ”No, it’s fine. I’m okay.”

Nancy Lockwood frowned. ”If nothing’s wrong, what are you doing here?”

’So I’m not allowed here if there’s nothing wrong?’

Claire Sinclair found it ridiculous. ”Nancy, you really don’t want me to come here, do you?”

Nancy Lockwood said without a change in expression, ”You’re Young Master Quincy’s woman. I wouldn’t dare think that.”

”Heh...” Claire Sinclair finally couldn’t help but laugh out loud. ”In your eyes, I’m just a tool to warm his bed, right?”

Nancy Lockwood hissed, trying to shut her up. ”Don’t say things like that. If someone hears you, I’ll be punished.”

”Fine. I don’t like saying things like that either. After you go back, please tell Mr. Quincy to give me a call when he’s free. I have something very important to say to him in person. Thanks.”

With that, Claire Sinclair turned to leave, not wanting to stay in a place like this and be an eyesore.

Nancy Lockwood scoffed disdainfully and cursed at her retreating back:

”Something ’very important’? I bet it’s about divorce again. I can’t stand people like you, always with divorce on your lips. You’re selfish, childish, ignorant, weak, and ridiculously pretentious! I feel ashamed for Quinn for having a sister like you.”

Every time this woman came looking for Young Master Quincy, it was always about divorce. She never considered Young Master Quincy’s feelings—completely selfish. How could a woman like this ever be qualified for the role of First Lady?

No one likes being randomly cursed out for no reason. Claire Sinclair was instantly furious.

She spun around and shot back angrily, ”Even if I am selfish, childish, ignorant, weak, and pretentious, you have no right to be ashamed on my sister’s behalf! And right now, I am still, in name, Young Mrs. Quincy. So I’d thank you to be a little more polite to me!”

”Oh? Learned to pull rank on me now, have we? What are you going to do, run and tattle to Young Master Quincy and get me fired? Who do you think wants to serve some naive little fool like you?”

’So standing up for myself is considered ”pulling rank” now?’

Claire Sinclair suddenly felt like a complete idiot, on a whole new level.

’Did I really think getting a press pass was such a big deal? What an idiot I was, coming to a place like this to try and prove a point. And for what?’

’Utter self-humiliation.’
