I Married the President

Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Embroiled in a Cheating Scandal

When she logged onto Weibo, she found that the top post on her profile had inexplicably gained tens of thousands of new comments.

She clicked on it and saw they were all attacks.

[Homewrecker, shameless!]

[You family-wrecking bitch, go die!]

[I can’t stand homewreckers like you who break up families. I curse you to never find true love!]

[Shameless, shameless, shameless!]

’Am I... being labeled the other woman?’

Claire Sinclair was completely bewildered. Aside from Adrian Quincy and his subordinates, the only other men she’d really interacted with were Henry Hartwell and Ethan Kingsley.

’Could this have something to do with Ethan Kingsley?’

Claire Sinclair clicked on Ethan Kingsley’s Weibo profile. It was perfectly calm, so it had nothing to do with him.

’Then what was it...?’

Claire Sinclair had no choice but to check the trending topics list, where she did indeed find a cheating scandal—

#DamianWaltonCheatsWithReporterS# — Late last night, Yvonne Linden, wife of Golden Dragon Film Emperor Damian Walton, posted a statement online. She accused a famous reporter with the surname S of having an affair with her husband, furiously denouncing the reporter for having literary talent but no morals. She also announced she would be divorcing Damian Walton.

Netizens speculated that the reporter with the surname S was very likely Claire Sinclair, ”The Iron Pen Heroine” who had recently taken the entertainment industry by storm. Everyone was waiting for those involved to step forward and clarify the matter.

’The Iron Pen Heroine???’

’How sweet of the netizens,’ she thought, ’giving me such a tacky nickname. I’m truly not worthy.’

Claire Sinclair immediately posted a response titled: ”An Open Letter to the Netizens.”

[First of all, I do not know Mr. Damian Walton. There are thousands of reporters in the world whose surnames start with an S. Don’t try to pin this on me.

Secondly, the Viper Law Group still has my back. A word of advice to those jumping on the hate bandwagon: you can try to humiliate me, but I don’t think you can win against the laws of Aridia.

Finally, I urge you all to be kind. For those who delete their comments, I’ll let bygones be bygones. For those who persist with the insults, I’ll see you in court.]

The moment her post went live, fans flocked to show their support.

Claire Sinclair offered no further explanation. She closed her Weibo page and got back to work.

Before she knew it, it was almost time for her lunch break. Claire Sinclair stood up with a stretch and headed to the restroom.

Seeing this, Phoebe Lockwood followed her out of the office.

When Claire Sinclair emerged after taking care of business, she saw Phoebe Lockwood leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed. With her sultry, provocative pose, she looked eminently punchable.

Completely ignoring her, Claire Sinclair walked to the sink, turned on the faucet, and began to wash her hands.

Phoebe Lockwood spoke abruptly, ”Claire Sinclair, I had my dad ask his contacts at the Ministry of Culture. The final review for the press pass is a character assessment. Now that you’re bogged down by this scandal, I’m afraid you have zero chance of getting your pass.”

Claire Sinclair calmly finished washing her hands. Her gaze drifted over to Phoebe as she smiled. ”Even if I am caught up in a scandal, it’s not like it would be your turn, is it? Oh, but I almost forgot—you have a governor for a dad to help you out. In that case, allow me to congratulate you in advance on getting your press pass. Congrats!”

”You—” Phoebe Lockwood was completely shut down.

’That damn bitch is getting better and better with her comebacks,’ she fumed inwardly. ’I’m always left with nothing to say.’

Claire Sinclair couldn’t be bothered to deal with the moron and walked out as if nothing had happened.

Furious and flustered, Phoebe Lockwood shouted at her retreating back, ”You’re right about one thing! That press pass is as good as mine! Just you wait and see!”

Claire Sinclair just smiled, not deigning to give her a second thought.

...

After work that afternoon, Claire Sinclair quickly tidied her desk and rushed straight to Quincy Manor.

When she arrived on the grounds of Quincy Manor, she saw a small squad standing in a perfect line, with Aiden Howkins at the very front.

The moment he saw her, Aiden Howkins barked, ”Attention!”
