I Married the President

Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Face It with Him

An intimate affair, undisturbed, stretched from dawn until dusk. It only drew to a close as night fell and the city lights began to glow.

Claire Sinclair was exhausted, but her spirits were high. She had finally started to emerge from the grief of losing her child.

When he finished making dinner, she devoured two bowls.

’Life is already so hard. Only good food can soothe a wounded soul.’

After dinner, Adrian Quincy began clearing the table without being asked.

Claire Sinclair couldn’t bear to see him tire himself out, so she went over to help. ”Here, let me do that.”

Adrian Quincy refused in a deep voice, ”No, it’s alright. You’re exhausted. Go get some rest.”

”How could I be tired? You were the one doing all the work.”

With that, Claire Sinclair snatched the unwashed bowl from his hands.

Pushed aside by her, Adrian Quincy watched as she focused on washing the dishes. Seeing no trace of sadness on her face, the corners of his lips curled into a charming smile.

’He was thrilled she was finally learning to act spoiled, knowing how much he adored her. He was happy to let her order him around.’

After washing a bowl, Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but look up at him. ”Are you just going to stand there and watch me wash dishes?”

Adrian Quincy nodded eagerly.

”Aren’t you going to the hospital to see your sister?”

”I’ll go after you’re asleep.”

”So if I don’t go to sleep, you’re not going to go at all?”

”Mm-hmm.”

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow and turned to face him. ”Your sister was in a car accident, and her life is on the line. I’m clearly giving you a hard time on purpose, trying to keep you from the hospital. Why aren’t you even a little bit angry?”

’Isn’t this exactly how a villainess in a novel would act?’

’He’s such an upstanding guy. How could he let her get away with something so childish and unreasonable? Has he lost his mind?’

Adrian Quincy was unconcerned. ”Compared to the one who caused all this, you’ve just gone through the pain of losing our child. You need someone with you more.”

Those words, ”the pain of losing our child,” made Claire Sinclair’s hand tremble uncontrollably.

The pain of losing their child, which she should have experienced two months ago, had been forcibly delayed by him until today—until her body had recovered to its optimal state.

She began to confront a sobering truth—having already lost a child, she could no longer indulge in naive fantasies.

’Claire Sinclair, it’s time for you to grow up.’

At that thought, Claire Sinclair put down the bowl in her hands, dried them, and said with determination, ”I’ve decided. I’m going to the hospital with you.”

Adrian Quincy frowned slightly. ”Are you sure?”

”In the past, I was so used to being treated unfairly. Whenever I was bullied, I’d just want to hide from the world. But I don’t want to run away anymore. I want to face this with you.”

She believed he must be suffering too from the loss of their first child. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have held it in until today to tell her the truth, silently shouldering the grief of losing their child alone for so long.

Since they were husband and wife, they should share the good times and the bad, even if they were destined to separate in the end.

Any reasonably responsible adult, whether in their career or their family, and no matter what role they played, ought to fulfill the duties and obligations that came with their position.

What she had to do now was clear—face the loss of their child with him.

Adrian Quincy said no more. He took her hand and led her out of the kitchen.

...

「The Hospital.」

After six hours of emergency surgery, Yara Quincy’s life was finally saved, but at the cost of one of her legs.

When Mrs. Quincy saw the empty space where her precious daughter’s left leg should have been, it felt as if something had been brutally plunged into her heart, the pain spreading through her entire being.

”Yara, oh, Yara... my Yara...” Mrs. Quincy sobbed, tears and snot running down her face as she watched her daughter being wheeled into the intensive care unit. She wanted nothing more than to follow, but she couldn’t.
