I Married the President

Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Don’t Blame Me for Being Merciless

Adrian Quincy said in a deep voice, ”We’ll sever all ties, file a lawsuit, and show absolutely no mercy.”

The corners of Claire Sinclair’s lips lifted slightly. ”And what if you can’t?”

Adrian Quincy didn’t answer. He drew the handgun he carried at his waist and pressed it into her hand.

Claire was stunned for a moment. She looked down at the hard, cold object in her hand, then her head snapped up to look at the man’s handsome face.

He said, ”If I can’t do it, then use your sister’s gun to kill me.”

Claire: ”...”

’He had to be kidding. She would never dare to kill anyone.’

But with his serious and resolute expression, he clearly wasn’t joking.

She understood the full extent of his resolve.

’Wait, did he just say this was my sister’s gun?’

As if sensing her confusion, Adrian Quincy explained, ”According to our country’s laws, the families of high-ranking officials have the right to carry firearms. From now on, this gun is yours.”

”But I don’t know how to shoot...”

”I’ll teach you.”

”Okay! When?”

”Whenever you’re free.”

”You’re the one who said it, hehe...”

Claire smiled happily. ’This was her sister’s gun. She had to take good care of it.’

She carefully placed the gun in her purse and looked up at his handsome face. ”Well, I’m heading back now. Whether your sister lives or dies has nothing to do with me. Goodbye.”

With that, Claire turned to leave.

Adrian reached out and grabbed her arm, his voice low. ”Claire, wait for me.”

Claire thought for a moment and nodded. ’Alright, I’ll wait for him for a little bit.’

Adrian turned to face Mrs. Quincy, who stood there with a grim, silent expression. He didn’t say anything to her, instead turning to his subordinate to give an order. ”Aiden Howkins, have your men watch Yara. Prohibit any unauthorized individuals from contacting her.”

”Yes, sir!” Aiden Howkins snapped a military salute.

Mrs. Quincy immediately objected. ”Adrian, what is the meaning of this? Yara is already in this state, and you’re going to put her under surveillance?”

Adrian’s face was devoid of expression. ”It’s for Yara’s good, Mother. I hope you’ll stop trying to be clever and pulling your little tricks. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”

Mrs. Quincy trembled with rage, her face flushed crimson. ”You... You’ll be the death of me! How could I have given birth to a son like you? You’re going to kill me...”

Adrian said nothing more. He took his wife’s hand and turned away.

Claire kept looking back as she walked, watching Mrs. Quincy, who had been left standing there, choked and speechless. Suddenly, she felt a pang of guilt.

’Mrs. Quincy must be heartbroken right now.’

’Her daughter had a limb amputated and was lying in the ICU where she couldn’t even see her, and now her own son was treating her like this...’

’And she was the one who had caused this whole standoff.’

’But wasn’t Yara the real culprit behind all of this?’

’Damn it, guilty my ass!’

Claire shook her head, casting aside those bleeding-heart thoughts. She had to change, to become stronger inside. She couldn’t afford to be held back by such reservations.

Back in the car, Claire couldn’t resist testing the waters. ”Mr. Quincy, if I became a woman who wasn’t so pure-hearted, would you still want to be with me?”

”Not pure-hearted in what way?” Adrian countered.

”Like... getting revenge on people who bully me, by any means necessary.”

”And to what extent would you take ’by any means necessary’?” Adrian asked again.

Claire paused. She hadn’t really thought about it on that level. After a long moment, she found her answer. ”I don’t know.”

A slight smile touched Adrian’s lips, his eyes full of adoration. ”Claire, as long as you don’t break any laws or moral codes, you can do anything you want. Don’t have any reservations. Do as you please.”

Claire was at a loss for words.

’This guy was actually encouraging her to do whatever she wanted. Wasn’t he afraid of spoiling her rotten?’
