Ghost Catching System

Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Are you hot?_1

The Underworld Merit Gate appeared. That awe-inspiring Gate of Merit shook countless people.

”DING... Host has successfully shown off, gaining 10 Pretentiousness Points.”

Old Yuan exclaimed, ”This... this seems to be the Hell’s Merit Gate recorded in legends.”

Little Ying hastily asked, ”Teacher Yuan, what is Hell’s Merit Gate?”

Old Yuan explained, ”Stepping through this gate means carrying merit with you. This is akin to defying heaven to change your fate, and your next life will surely be blessed.”

So powerful! The way everyone looked at Chu Hao could no longer be described as merely shocked; he was practically a living immortal.

The unfortunate ghost and the female ghost kept thanking him repeatedly before entering Hell’s Merit Gate.

”DING... Completed a B-level Mission, gaining 200,000 Experience Points.”

”DING... Completed a B-level Mission, gaining three Evil Ghost Pills.”

The Experience Points for completing the mission are indeed substantial, and there are also three Evil Ghost Pills, Chu Hao thought.

Old Yuan and the others thanked Chu Hao again and immediately took their leave. The incident had blown up: three elite members from the Seventh District were dead. They needed to hurry back to report, and the Douli Man had to be taken into custody.

Upon leaving the hospital, Fang Jingxue immediately came forward. ”Master, what happened inside?”

Chu Hao waved his hand with the air of a lonely expert and said calmly, ”The people were saved, and I happened to exterminate over a thousand ghosts. Alas... it’s because I was too heavy-handed that I ended up destroying so many souls.”

”DING... Host has successfully shown off, gaining 10 Pretentiousness Points.”

Fang Jingxue was overwhelmed with excitement, her face full of stars of adoration. ”Master, when will you teach me to catch ghosts?” she asked eagerly.

Chu Hao said, ”Um... Your master is starting school in a few days; I’m afraid I won’t have time.”

”No way, Master, you must teach me a few moves!” The policewoman clung to Chu Hao’s arm and refused to let go; she had decided to pester him until he agreed.

It was no exaggeration; Fang Jingxue was quite well-endowed, and her tight clothing did little to hide it.

Chu Hao thought of Ghost General Diao Chan, a surge of heat rising in his heart. I need to go back quickly to discuss life with my dear Diao Chan; that’s what’s most important!

Thus, he took out the Novice Peachwood Sword and a bottle of Cow Eye Tears. He said, ”This is a Peachwood Sword; it can harm ghosts to some extent. This is Cow Eye Tears. These two items will help you a lot, but with your current abilities, you’d better not try to catch ghosts. If you see them, it’s wiser to avoid them.”

Fang Jingxue, uncontrollably excited, took the two items. ”Thank you, Master.”

Just as Chu Hao was thinking of going home, Qin Zhengyu appeared. The young man said eagerly, ”Brother, were there really ghosts in the hospital?”

Chu Hao nodded. ”Yes, there were ghosts, but they’ve all been wiped out. I’m heading home now. Goodbye.”

”HEY! HEY!” Qin Zhengyu was disappointed; he had been planning to ask more questions.

After returning home, Chu Hao summoned Diao Chan and was momentarily stunned. Terms like ’nation-toppling beauty’ or ’moon-eclipsing fairness’ seemed utterly inadequate to describe Diao Chan. Her face was as delicate as a lotus, her eyebrows like willows. Her eyes, more enchanting than peach blossoms, were immensely captivating—truly an unparalleled beauty. free.w e bn.ov(e)l(.)com

Diao Chan blushed and said, ”Master, what do you need me for?”

Chu Hao hurriedly said, ”My dear Diao Chan, Master wants to talk to you about life.”

Diao Chan chuckled. She was breathtakingly beautiful, easily overshadowing any famous star. Blinking her eyes, she said shyly, ”Master, don’t look at me like that. It makes me feel shy.”

Chu Hao drooled and said, ”TSK, TSK... Diao Chan, your voice is so sweet. Isn’t it hot wearing so much in this heat!”

Diao Chan, her eyes bewitching, said, ”I am not hot. Are you, Master?”

”Hot! No... Master is quite cold, actually. My sweet Diao Chan, come sit on Master’s lap.”

Diao Chan did as told, giggling, her breath as fragrant as orchids.

It wasn’t as warm as he imagined. Chu Hao shivered. It was far too chilly, with eerie gusts of wind making his back break out in a cold sweat. Diao Chan is a ghost, after all. Chu Hao suddenly felt depressed.

Diao Chan blinked and asked, ”What’s wrong, Master? Are you very cold?”

Chu Hao nodded, his expression indescribably gloomy.

Diao Chan said pensively, ”I am a ghost, not human. Humans and ghosts follow different paths...”

Chu Hao heaved a sigh. He had initially thought he could sleep in the same bed as Diao Chan and wage a three-hundred-round battle. But now! Holding her was no different from hugging a giant ice block. Such a disappointment.

”DING... System upgrade successful. System store update complete.”

Chu Hao was delighted that the System had finally finished updating. Just as he was about to ask if there was a way to turn Diao Chan into a human, the System spoke up.

System: ”Host can purchase a Ginseng Doll to help Diao Chan create a physical body.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Hao curiously asked, ”System, how do you know what I wanted to say? Have you evolved to the point where you can peek into my inner thoughts?”

System: ”Based on the Host’s usual tendencies, you would definitely seek help from the System. Therefore, the System has already deduced that the Host wants to revive Diao Chan.”

This System is so strange after the update. It’s become more personable, no longer the cold entity it was before, Chu Hao thought.

As expected, the System said, ”After the System update, its human-like functions were upgraded. However, the System’s main goal remains unchanged: to help the Host become the ghost-catching Taoist Master pre-eminent in the art of showing off.”

So that’s how it is.

Chu Hao excitedly said, ”Then how many Pretentiousness Points do I need for the Ginseng Doll you mentioned?”

System: ”10,000 Pretentiousness Points.”

Chu Hao howled in dismay, ”System, you’re too greedy! How am I ever going to get 10,000 Pretentiousness Points?”

System: ”The System is not overcharging. The Ginseng Doll can not only create a physical body but also house Diao Chan’s powerful ghost spirit and allow her to inherit her abilities. Therefore, this amount of Pretentiousness Points is not high at all.”

Alright, System, you’re incredible.

Chu Hao quickly reassured Diao Chan, ”Baby Diao Chan, rest assured. Once I’m wealthy enough, I will definitely get you a physical body.”

Diao Chan was overjoyed and threw herself into Chu Hao’s arms, snuggling her head against his chest. ”Really? Thank you, Master.”

”DING... Intimacy with Diao Chan has increased.”

There’s even an intimacy level! Pretty nice. Her skin was soft, but before he could get too excited, an icy touch almost froze him stiff.

Hmm, for my Baby Diao Chan, I must strive to show off more!

After the System update, the interface could finally be opened.

Today, I killed a Nine-infant Ghost and obtained a Killing Ghost Pill, slayed the Thousand-year Drought Demon to get a Golden Bell Pendant, and received a Silver Treasure Box as a reward. What a huge harvest!

Killing Ghost Pill: Increases a ghost’s level, with energy five times that of an Evil Ghost Pill.

This Killing Ghost Pill was immediately given to Diao Chan to consume.

”DING... Diao Chan has leveled up by 2 levels.”

Ghost General: Diao Chan (Unsurpassed Dancing Beauty)

Level: 2

Strength: 80

Agility: 80

Intelligence: 120

Skills: Qin Charm, Yuan Pearl (Upgradeable Skills: Thousand Flower World, Art of Enchantment)

As expected of a Ghost General! Leveling up once increases basic attributes by 30 points. That’s so much more powerful than an Evil Ghost.

The three Evil Ghost Pills were all given to Sadako to consume.

”DING... Sadako has leveled up by 4 levels.”

Four levels in one go! That was incredible!

Evil Ghost: Yamamura Sadako

Level: 4

Strength: 34

Agility: 33

Intelligence: 29

Skills: Seven-Day Death Curse, Subsonic Wave, Psychokinesis

Psychokinesis, a new skill! This is also terrifying; it can control all sorts of objects with thought.

With the increased power of my ghosts, my own ability to exterminate other ghosts is assured.
