Ghost Catching System

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Demon, behold the Red Dragon! [Please Favorite!]_1

This is all real!!

Heavens, you really favor me.

With a thought from Chu Hao, it was as if he were equipping items in a game, taking them out from within.

A glistening yellow Taoist robe.

The yellow Taoist robe was quite flashy, adorned with incomprehensible talismans that looked as if they were sketched, reminiscent of the coat Naruto wore when he transformed into Sage Mode.

[Primary Maoshan Taoist Robe]: Made with golden silk from the Ancient Loulan Country. The robe is inscribed with talismanic patterns using blood from the cockscombs of ten robust roosters and bears the Three Pure Ones’ inscriptions, capable of deterring ghosts.

[Novice Peachwood Sword]: Made from a centennial peach tree, extracted from the core of the tree, it can cause damage to ghosts.

[Cow Eye Tears]: Applied to the eyelids, it allows the opening of the Heavenly Eye to see ghosts.

[Red Dragon Set of Five]: A powerful tool for warding off evil, capable of harming ghosts.

Chu Hao hastily donned the Taoist robe and gripped the three-foot-long Peachwood Sword in his hand.

Clothes make the man. With this outfit, Chu Hao looked imposing and spirited, finally shedding a bit of his loser vibe.

System prompt: ”Pretentiousness Points are important. You can purchase items from the store with them. The Host is advised to be more pretentious—be strong against the weak and even stronger against the strong.”

This meant that the main theme of this Pretentiousness System was to act pretentious!

Haha... It’s like it was tailor-made for me.

Chu Hao yelled and kicked at the front door. ”The Taoist priest has arrived!”

BANG!!

OUCH!

As a result, he howled in agony, holding his leg. He couldn’t kick the door open—it was shut too tightly.

Chu Hao was quite frustrated, having failed at showing off on his first try, and cursed, ”What kind of crappy door is this? It won’t even budge.”

System prompt: ”Considering you’re a novice, it’s suggested to use the Red Dragon. Stick it on the door to disperse the Yin energy, then you can break through.”

Chu Hao was delighted. Thankfully, the System gave a hint. He hurriedly took out the Red Dragon, assuming it had to be a flashy, cool, and awesome ghost-hunting tool.

But then! He looked at the sanitary pad in his hand, streaked with bloodstains and clearly visible. A strong, pungent smell hit his nose.

Chu Hao was gobsmacked, utterly shocked by the ”Red Dragon.”

The Red Dragon is actually a sanitary pad! This... this is too creative.

Chu Hao, lines forming on his forehead, covered his nose, stuck the Red Dragon on the front door, then kicked it open and charged in.

Chu Hao roared, ”The Taoist priest is here, you demons better surrender quickly!”

DING... The Host has successfully shown off, gaining 1 Pretentiousness Point.

Chu Hao was overjoyed. This was a Pretentiousness Point! The System said this stuff was crucial.

Looking at the people inside the room, whose faces now showed sheer shock, this wave of showing off felt incredibly satisfying.

He had always failed at showing off and was constantly outdone by others. As a poor loser, he lacked the capital to do so convincingly.

Now, with the System in hand, in this life, I shall be the King of Show-offs!!

COUGH, COUGH... I’m thinking too much. I better hurry up and save people.

Wearing the robe—outerwear of Ancient Kingdom silk inscribed with flashy talismans—he looked fantastically cool. The exquisitely held Peachwood Sword was explosive in style.

Inside the mourning hall, everyone’s mouths gaped open; they had previously been scared stiff. The door had suddenly shut. This was followed by a violent wind that blew everything askew, the cold breeze biting to the bone.

Now, seeing a flashy man burst in, like something out of a movie, how could they not be shocked?

In the mourning hall, a frail man, pale as death, was lifting Mu Yuxun by the neck. The entire mourning hall turned cold as ice.

”Cow Eye Tears.”

Chu Hao smeared Cow Eye Tears on his eyelids and looked closely. What he saw made him shiver in fear.

The one gripping Mu Yuxun’s neck wasn’t the man at all!

Or rather, it wasn’t a person.

In front of him was an elderly woman in red, her face covered in crumpled wrinkles. Her legs were stained with blood as if bitten by something, and her face was as white as a sheet of paper.

She had no eyes, only two trails of blood for tears. Bubbles of blood emerged from her mouth, and rotten flesh was visible between her teeth.

This was the Ghost of Granny Li Meiqing.

Chu Hao nearly collapsed.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen a ghost.

Even with this awesome System, I’m still terrified!

COUGH, COUGH...

Mu Yuxun, her neck gripped, still struggled. Seeing Chu Hao, she subconsciously pleaded for help.

”Save... save me.”

Chu Hao felt a jolt. Where did that courage come from? Brandishing his Peachwood Sword, he yelled, ”HIYAH!” and struck.

SMACK! Though the Peachwood Sword couldn’t harm people, it could definitely harm ghosts.

The man choking Mu Yuxun let out a piercing scream and released her.

COUGH, COUGH.

Mu Yuxun fell to the ground, coughing non-stop. She had almost been strangled to death.

The man turned around, his pale face shifting expressions, and glared fiercely at Chu Hao.

Others couldn’t see Granny Li Meiqing, but Chu Hao saw her clearly. Her face is too horrifying, especially that bloodied mouth and no eyeballs! It’s utterly disgusting. Anyone who had seen a zombie movie could imagine it.

Granny Li Meiqing charged at Chu Hao.

Chu Hao was startled and suppressed the urge to vomit. His reaction was still half a beat too slow. The entity pounced on him, but what happened next was astonishing.

The entity let out an inhuman scream and was sent flying.

In that instant, Chu Hao’s Primary Maoshan Taoist Robe shone brightly. The talismans on it illuminated half the room in a golden blaze—a feature of the robe perfect for showing off.

Chu Hao now looked incredibly cool. His glowing robe was even the same model Naruto wore!

I look explosively cool! Am I awesome or what?!free we\bnove(l).com

So many people are watching. I can’t drop the ball. If I don’t show off now, then when?

So, he glared angrily and exclaimed, ”Evil spirit! With your meager cultivation, you dare pounce on me? Cultivate for a few thousand more years before trying!”

DING... Host has successfully shown off, gaining 1 Pretentiousness Point.

Yes! Saying that definitely got me another Pretentiousness Point!

The others looked on in shock. Although they couldn’t see the ghost, they saw the seemingly super-strong young man being sent flying. At that moment, Chu Hao seemed as badass as Superman wearing his underwear on the outside.

Now that I have this protective Taoist robe, I’m not so scared anymore.

”Evil spirit, take this!”

Another sword strike connected. The man screamed in agony, falling to the ground and writhing, shivering non-stop.

Seeing him like this, ghosts don’t seem so scary after all. They can only scare people. Didn’t I just knock him down with one strike of my sword?

He ruthlessly continued to thrash the man with the Peachwood Sword.

”Take that for scaring me! Take that for pouncing on me!”

SMACK. SMACK. SMACK.

A harrowing scream, sounding like a mix of a man’s and a woman’s voice, emitted from the man’s mouth. Everyone heard it clearly, and it was bone-chilling.

However, no matter how much Chu Hao thrashed him with the Peachwood Sword, Granny Li Meiqing’s Ghost just wouldn’t come out. The man even started foaming at the mouth, looking half-dead.

Chu Hao broke into a sweat.

Damn, this Ghost is too stubborn! If I keep hitting him, the possessed guy might actually die! Wouldn’t I become a murderer then?

”Stop... stop hitting him! He’s my brother!” shouted a woman who looked as beautiful as a fairy.

I don’t want to keep hitting him... but wait! A lightbulb went off in Chu Hao’s head.

Use the Red Dragon!

Chu Hao struck a pose, took a step back, and entered show-off mode.

”Bold evil spirit! Don’t think that just because you won’t come out, I have no way to deal with you! Behold, the Red Dragon!”

To everyone’s amazement, a sanitary pad appeared in Chu Hao’s hand.

This instantly stunned everyone present.

DING... Host has successfully shown off, gaining 1 Pretentiousness Point.

Their expressions are so weird... I’m a bit embarrassed. Once I get more powerful, I’ll definitely get better gear.

Showing off depends on the gear, too!

The sanitary pad reeked; the entire house was filled with its intense odor. It could be smelled even a hundred meters away, as if it could knock out the dogs in the yard. This was completely incongruent with his mighty and impressive image.

Chu Hao slapped the sanitary pad onto the man’s face.

SMACK!

The man screamed in pain as the blood-smeared sanitary pad hit his face. Granny Li Meiqing’s Ghost was forcefully ejected.

The young man who had been possessed fainted on the spot.
