Ghost Catching System

Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Seeing a Ghost, Really Damn Exciting_1

Mu Yufei felt sentimental for Chu Hao, thinking it must have been tough for him to be so young and without family.

The two of them chatted sporadically, and Mu Yufei suddenly asked with a laugh, ”You don’t seem that young anymore; have you ever been in a relationship?”

Chu Hao replied, somewhat embarrassed, ”I have, with a girl from school. But we never even held hands, and eventually, we broke up.”

Mu Yufei smiled sweetly and said, ”Ah-Hao, you’re so outstanding! It’s a wonder that girl didn’t cherish you. I guess she’ll regret it in the future.”

The compliment pleased him; this young lady sure knew how to flatter.

He recalled his ex-girlfriend, who had scorned him for being poor. Chu Hao was indeed very poor at the time, but he hadn’t paid it much mind—everyone has their own ambitions. However, that woman had actually brought a Little White Face to insult him to his face, which led Chu Hao to get thoroughly drunk.

When I get back, you two adulterers will pay for this, Chu Hao thought.

Chu Hao couldn’t help but fix his gaze on Mu Yufei’s face. It was cold and distant, as if rejecting others from miles away. She wasn’t a shade too plump, nor a touch too thin—perfectly proportioned. Her oval face was fair, like an exquisite piece of jade.

How can such a stunning beauty exist in this world? he marveled.

Chu Hao said shyly, ”It’s good that we broke up; I didn’t like her type anyway. I prefer someone like Sister Yu Fei, the type suitable to be a wife.”

That was his most honest thought, with absolutely no falsehood.

A rare blush appeared on Mu Yufei’s cheeks for a moment before she quickly regained her composure. She was exceedingly rational as she said, ”You’ve flattered this elder sister of yours to the heavens now.”

”Ahem... I’m telling the truth. Have you ever been in a relationship, Sister?” Chu Hao asked.

To Chu Hao’s surprise, Mu Yufei replied, ”No, I’m a bit of a germaphobe. I don’t like men getting too close.”

So that’s why she’s so cold and distant, he realized.

”But if it were Ah-Hao, I think it might be okay,” Mu Yufei said with a smile.

Sister, are you trying to seduce me? he wondered, then asked excitedly, ”Really?”

Mu Yufei replied, ”Of course. Don’t believe me? Just try.”

Happiness came too suddenly. Chu Hao asked, ”How should I try?”

Mu Yufei took a step forward, wrapped her arms around Chu Hao’s waist, and slowly leaned her head on his shoulder. A delicate fragrance wafted from her, enveloping him.

Just like that? Isn’t this a bit too direct? he mused.

Chu Hao felt elated. As Mu Yufei embraced him, he could feel the warmth of her embrace. Caught off guard, Chu Hao’s hands hung awkwardly. He glanced down—the sight was breathtakingly beautiful.

This figure! These proportions! And being so close to her... he thought. I truly wish it could be like this every day.

Mu Yufei noticed Chu Hao staring straight at her and was startled; his gaze made her skin crawl as if ants were scurrying all over her. A shiver ran down her spine.

A little flustered, Mu Yufei took a step back and said reproachfully, ”Don’t look at me like that; I feel uncomfortable.”

An embarrassed look spread across Chu Hao’s face.

Was I possessed just now? he wondered. What if Mu Yufei accuses me of harassment? Wait a minute... I was just looking. How could that possibly be harassment?

Feeling reassured, his eyes wandered back to her.

Mu Yufei, feeling helpless, said, ”Let’s get down to business.”

”Okay.”

Just then, Mu Yufei reminded him, ”Ah-Hao, your zipper is undone.”

Chu Hao looked down; indeed, his zipper was undone.

So embarrassing! he groaned internally.

「As night fell.」

There were quite a few people in the Mu Family’s small courtyard. Chu Hao gestured for everyone to hide behind a large piece of cloth, while many others hid upstairs.

Then, Chu Hao took out a bowl of soup and handed it to Mu Chenglang, saying, ”Drink it.”

Mu Chenglang, looking a bit nervous, asked, ”Master Chu Tian, what is this?”

Chu Hao said, ”Arsenic.”

Mu Chenglang was speechless. His hand trembled, nearly dropping the bowl, and he looked at Chu Hao with a woeful expression.

Chu Hao glared at him and said, ”Rest assured, after careful preparation by this Taoist Master, drinking this Arsenic Soup won’t harm you; at most, it will just weaken your Yang Qi.”

This method was from the Mao Mountain Tao Hunting Manual. Arsenic, while lethal, could be considered a medicinal herb in small amounts and generally caused no harm.

Mu Chenglang finally steadied his still-shaking hand, gulped down the soup with a grimace, and then lay on the bed, pretending to be dead.

Chu Hao placed a Yellow Talisman under the bed. This Yellow Talisman, which he had drawn himself, was designed to reduce a person’s Yang Qi.

Next, Chu Hao purchased a Yellow Talisman from the System store.

”Ding... Host has bought a Soulrend Talisman, spending 1 Pretentiousness Point. Remaining balance: 2 Pretentiousness Points.”

Chu Hao chuckled. With this, everyone here will be able to see the ghost, making it much easier for me to show off.

Glancing at the time, it was already past midnight.

Chu Hao said to Lin Yulan, ”Go and wail beside your husband. The louder, the better.”

”Ah! Why should I wail?” Lin Yulan asked.

Chu Hao gave her a stern look and said irritably, ”Just do as you’re told.”

”Oh, okay.” Lin Yulan was now completely obedient. She threw herself onto Mu Chenglang’s body and burst into loud sobs.

Beside them, Mu Yufei couldn’t help asking, ”Ah-Hao, why this?”

Normally, he wouldn’t bother answering such a question, but since it was Mu Yufei, Chu Hao smiled and said, ”Wailing can attract ghosts; they get curious and come to look. Your Third Uncle’s Yang Fire is low right now, so he looks like a man at death’s door, with only a breath remaining. That One-armed Ghost has been wanting to harm Lin Yulan’s family; he’ll definitely come.”

”Ding... Host has demonstrated profound pretentiousness, earning 2 Pretentiousness Points.”

See, that’s what you call a slick display of pretense. Those with real skill make showing off look effortless.

By one o’clock, the surroundings were eerily quiet. Everyone grew increasingly tense, not a hint of sleepiness among them.

Finally, a faint, ghostly wind blew in from outside the door, immediately extinguishing the candle flames. The room plunged into quiet darkness, the scene barely discernible by the faint moonlight, creating an eerie and terrifying atmosphere.

Lin Yulan’s legs had turned to jelly from fear; even in her naivety, she knew something unclean had arrived.

At last, a One-armed Ghost floated in from outside the door. His head was split open in several places, a bloody and hideous mess oozing fresh blood and white brain matter. His face was grotesquely twisted, clearly the state he was in after jumping to his death from a building.

The people hidden behind the cloth nearly vomited at the sight of the One-armed Ghost.

Chu Hao also felt his skin crawl; the One-armed Ghost was truly repulsive. At the same time, he couldn’t help but think, Damn, seeing ghosts is freaking thrilling!

”Ding... Successful ’Ghost Encounter Show-Off’, earned 2 Pretentiousness Points.”

Mu Yuxun and Mu Yufei were so tense they instinctively clung tightly to Chu Hao’s arms, finding a sense of security only by being close to him.

The sisters pressed against him, their touch startlingly soft, sending a tingling sensation through him. Chu Hao felt as if he were floating on clouds, soaring to the ninth heaven. He looked down and saw Mu Yuxun wearing a black sweater, slightly low-cut, revealing a hint of her fair cleavage and emitting a faint fragrance that made his blood rush. Looking at Mu Yufei, her figure was clearly even more magnificent than her sister’s. Despite wearing sportswear, her proud assets were apparent, seeming to quiver with her every movement, like supple jade rabbits.

Closer and closer, tighter and tighter they pressed.

Chu Hao had no doubt that Sister Yu Fei’s bosom could suffocate a man.

Does it have to be this intense? he thought. He swallowed hard, his heart pounding, especially since their father was right nearby. Is it really okay to be taking liberties with their daughters like this?

Suddenly, someone’s phone ringtone shattered the silence, playing the cheesy hit ”My Skateboarding Shoes,” the lyrics blaring:

”My skateboarding shoes, the most fashionable of them all!”

”I can’t help myself on the way home!”

”Rubbing, rubbing!”

”Rubbing!”

The unexpected sound startled even the One-armed Ghost.

The already tense crowd was shocked by the sudden ringtone. The faint-hearted screamed, their faces turned pale, and they scrambled to run upstairs.

”Ding... Host performed a Scary Show Off, earning 2 Pretentiousness Points.”
