Ghost Catching System

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 A Good Opportunity to Show Off_1

This bottle, when smashed, hurt far more than Yue Shanshan’s earlier blow, because it was filled with alcohol, not just an empty bottle.

”Ah!” Ma Wen clutched his head as fresh blood streamed down.

”Get ’em!” The others rushed forward without a second thought as the girls screamed and retreated in fear.

Chu Hao pulled out his Peachwood Sword and thrust it at the closest long-haired man.

Although it was a Peachwood Sword, a straight stab was very painful. The Long Hair Man cried out, clutching his chest as he stumbled back, gasping sharply.

Following that, Chu Hao executed a sideways sweep, his Peachwood Sword slapping across each man’s face—SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! The first man’s teeth were knocked clean out.

In a few swift moves, the young men were all struck, writhing and cursing their parents vehemently.

Chu Hao sneered, ”It’s not that I’m targeting anyone specifically, but against trash like you, I, the Taoist Master, could take on a hundred.”

”Ding... Host has successfully shown off, obtaining 3 Pretentiousness Points.”

Everyone was shocked. This guy was incredibly formidable, fighting just like a swordsman from a martial arts novel.

Could he *be* any more awesome?

The girls were ecstatic, their faces filled with admiration, their eyes sparkling.

”Ah! So handsome!”

”Ding... Host has successfully shown off, obtaining 3 Pretentiousness Points.”

Having successfully shown off twice in a row, Chu Hao was in a good mood. Shouldering his Peachwood Sword, he said, ”Still want to fight? I, the Taoist Master, am always ready, but I won’t be merciful. You pieces of trash, watch carefully! Just like this bottle.”

”Break!”

After speaking, he channeled his Mana Points. A force emerged from the Peachwood Sword, consuming a full 50 Mana Points. With a powerful thrust, the bottle shattered with a BANG!

Everyone’s expression changed drastically. If that thrust had been aimed at someone’s head, wouldn’t it have meant instant death?

”Holy shit! Who is this kid?”

”Damn, we’ve run into a tough one today! Is he a swordsman?”

At this moment, Chu Hao stood imposingly. ”Now scram! When I, the Taoist Master, make a move, even I get scared of myself. Against trash like you, I could take on a hundred, and I’m absolutely not joking.”

The group of thugs, thoroughly intimidated, retreated from the private room, dragging Ma Wen out with them.

”Ding... Host has successfully shown off, obtaining 3 Pretentiousness Points.”

Chu Hao, with a look of disdain, thought to himself that this was all rather pointless; fighting ghosts was more fulfilling.

”Young Master, you are so incredible!” the girls exclaimed.

Then, a group of women surrounded Chu Hao, their faces alight with excitement and admiration.

Surrounded by beauties, if not now, when was a better time to show off?

”It’s nothing,” he assured them. ”I could easily handle a hundred more. With me here, I, the Taoist Master, won’t let you get hurt.”

”Wow! Taoist Master, you’re so handsome!”

With the mood ruined, the singing couldn’t continue, so everyone decided to leave the private room.

However, just as they reached the parking lot, those same young men reappeared, each now wielding an iron rod or wooden stick.

And their numbers! Damn, a perfectly organized group of one hundred.

Chu Hao’s face darkened.

Ma Wen, clutching his head, roared angrily, ”Damn you! Today, I’m gonna see for myself if your little acrobatics are so tough, or if our hundred men are tougher!”

Another man, looking just as fierce, added, ”This kid wants to fight a hundred? Fine, let’s fulfill his wish.”

With that, the hundred men marched forward in unison.

Manager Yue’s face turned pale, his voice trembling. ”Call the police.”

Chu Hao was also terrified, his face a picture of pure distress.

Have they no shame? I was just kidding! Did you really have to bring a hundred guys?

Chu Hao hurriedly asked in his mind, ”System, what should I do? I don’t want to be turned into minced meat.”

System: ”Host doesn’t have enough Pretentiousness Points. Otherwise, you could exchange them for the Intermediate Shushan Sword Manual. Analyzing the current situation, Host should use intimidation.”

Why didn’t I think of that?

Chu Hao clenched his fists. ”System, then quickly summon a ghost for me.”

System: ”What level of ghost do you require, Host?”

Chu Hao quickly asked, ”What are the levels?”

System: ”The levels are: Xiao Gui, Evil Ghost, Dark Killing Ghost, Ghost Soldier, Semi-Ghost General, Ghost General, Semi-Ghost King, Ghost King, Semi-Ghost God, and Ghost Gods.”

Chu Hao’s eyes widened. ”Damn, there are so many levels!”

System: ”To just scare them, a Xiao Gui is sufficient.”

Chu Hao said, ”A Xiao Gui isn’t impressive enough. I want to scare them to death.”

System: ”For the ’scare-to-death’ level, I recommend Ju-on Kayako, Sadako, and Chu Renmei from Old Corpse in the Mountain Village.”

Chu Hao felt embarrassed. System, you’re too straightforward! If those three female ghosts actually appear, forget them, even I would be scared enough to pee my pants!

Every one of these female ghosts is from a classic horror film.

But... I am the King of Show-offs! Why should I hold back just to spare others’ feelings?

”Just go with Sadako.”

”Ding... Host has purchased the Evil Ghost Sadako, consuming 30 Pretentiousness Points.”

Ma Wen and the others swaggered over, their clothes disheveled, cutting figures much like Chen Haonan from an 80s movie. This group of a hundred men included some who sneered, some who jeered, and some who looked dismissive, all of them exuding menace.

However, they all had one thing in common: they wanted to swallow Chu Hao alive.

One of the Ma Zai, thinking Chu Hao was showing off way too much and having never seen someone court death so blatantly, wondered how he would handle the aftermath.

Suddenly, something flashed in a nearby car’s side mirror. He turned to look.

What he saw was a scene he would never forget for the rest of his life.

A hideous figure, covered in blood, its eyes staring straight at him. The surrounding air instantly chilled as if it had dropped forty degrees. He screamed, ”AHHH!” startling everyone.

Ma Wen cursed, ”What the hell? You scared the shit out of me!”

The terrified Ma Zai pointed to the mirror, trembling uncontrollably. ”A ghost... there’s a ghost!”

”Ghost my ass!”

Ma Wen was annoyed; this guy was making a fuss and ruining his badass vibe.

However, another man also screamed, dropping his iron rod. His face was pale as he pointed towards the car. ”Young Master Wen, there... There’s really a ghost!”

If one person claims to see a ghost, no one believes it. But when two people say it, the atmosphere becomes eerie.

The Long Hair Man said angrily, ”Stop scaring yourselves! There are no ghosts in this world.”

Suddenly, the parking lot lights went out. The sudden blackout startled everyone.

Then, the lights flickered on and off. A hideous, blood-covered figure slowly crawled out from the car mirror.

It wasn’t so much crawling as twisting its body, its flesh visible and undulating like a snake.

Its terrifying face dripped blood onto the ground. Its head twisted a full 180 degrees, and its eyes, set at an almost perversely unnatural angle, stared fixedly at Ma Wen and the others.

”AAAH! A GHOST!”

This horrifying scene scared everyone out of their wits. They turned and fled.

Ma Wen and several others were so scared their legs gave out. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to run; their bodies were simply too terrified to move.

”Ah! Ah! A ghost, a ghost!”

”Mama, I’m scared! WAAAH!” A grown man burst into tears from fright.

Sadako drew nearer and nearer, her body inverted, head twisted around, as she crawled towards Ma Wen and the others.

Ma Wen peed himself, the crotch of his pants becoming uncomfortably warm.

Chu Hao grew anxious. Why aren’t I getting any Pretentiousness Points? Does scaring them with a ghost not count as my doing?

Suddenly, he gave a loud shout, making a flashy entrance. Holding the Peachwood Sword and dressed in an impressively cool Taoist robe, he declared, ”Vile demon, harm them no more!”

Sadako: ”...”

System: ”...”

Damn!

Have you no shame? At this moment, Sadako was internally speechless.

How could I miss such a great chance to show off? Chu Hao thought.

So, he gave Sadako a knowing look.
